A short read that introduces you to the AGGGTM characters. The story was fun, but in my opinion, not necessary. If you're a big AGGGTM fan I can definitely see why you would enjoy this story

I have The Good Girl's Guide to Murder on my tbr list so I thought why not start with this prequel novella to see is if I'd be interested in the series. And the answer is a definite yes! A very cute novella featuring a fun murder mystery party that has piqued my interest enough to start reading the rest of the series!

This series is always great for a quick read. It's an adorable young adult series for anyone whole loves murder, mystery, and puzzles. I would equate it to the Truly Devious or Inheritance Games series. I enjoyed the first two books in the series and was so excited to get an e-galley of this prequel. It did not disappoint! I loved visiting the characters before the drama of the books began. It was a fabulous prequel including sassy characters, terrible jokes, and a little mystery. Who doesn't love a murder mystery party?? I also thought it was so funny how Pip got so into the party after being so annoyed at having to go. It just shows how her brain loves a puzzle!
4/5 stars ONLY because I thought the drama of being super scared and thinking a real murder was happening was about a bit overdone.

This one was only an okay read for it. While I really enjoyed the series I struggled with going back to a time before the events of book three. Pip becomes such a different person towards the end of the series but this one takes us back to before all of that trauma happened. I think this was more of a personal thing though. The novella was a well written fun read and I think most people will enjoy this quick read.

This was such a fun and quick read. I always love diving back into the world of Pip, or was a fun glimpse into what lead to the AGGGTM universe.

I seriously love her books! This prequel was AMAZING!!!! I cannot rave enough about this whole series, I love love love it!! Pip is one of my favorite characters from any book.

I enjoyed reading this book and appreciate learning the backstory as to how Pip decided to focus her school project on the murder of Andie Bell.

This novella is a perfectly fine companion to the Good Girl's Guidee series, but it wasn't anything special and I wouldn't recommend it all that highly to other readers.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was a delightful little novella that occurred before A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I really liked it!

A very cute prequel novella to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
A murder mystery party takes Pip and her friends back to the 1920s. While solving clues, this mystery plants the seeds to another case on Pip’s mind and what led to her senior project that kicks off the first novel of the series. It was a refreshing and quick read for fans of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and great for teens and adults, alike.
Thank you to Random House Children’s for the ARC! This is out now.

This novella is a prequel to the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series. In this story, Pip is at a murder mystery party with her friends. This quick novella shows where Pip first gets her interest in putting clues together and solving the mystery that becomes the focus of the first book in the series. While it was fun, it was not quite what I expected and did not feel necessary to the series. It was missing the suspense I loved from the other books.
Thanks to Delacorte Press for the advance copy.

This was for sure a money grab which is completely fine more power to the author but this didn’t really add anything to the original story.

An enjoyable novella from Holly Jackson. I love how she continues to write mystery stories that will grab the interest of my students. Thank you negalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
I read and loved Pip in the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series. I was excited to see this novella come out. It was a quick 200-page read. The plot was good for how short the book was. I felt like I got to know and meet the characters in a lighter setting. While it wasn't the best mystery book I've ever read, it did hold my attention enough. I would not recommend reading this book before the other main 3 in the series. I think, if anything, this should be read after completing the main three novels.

Such a fun quick read where we get a little bit more of our favorite girl, Pip and her detective skills. I love the foreshawdowing that Holly wrote into this story, leading up to A Good Girls Guide to Murder. It even had a bit more suspense than I was expecting and made me want to host a murder mystery party!

I read about half of this and I'm not inclined to finish. I LOVED Jackson's AGGGTM series and was excited to pick this up but without Ravi it's not the same. Because this is not available for Kindle download I had to read on my phone which is not an enjoyable reading experience.

A group of friends get together to play a murder mystery game, will it lead to solving a real murder? Holly Jackson has written a fun backstory to our favorite characters from the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series. If you have read the series there are little Easter eggs scattered throughout. If you have not, this is a good way to begin the series.

I absolutely loved the Good Girls Guide to Murder series so I was excited to see that a prequel novella was releasing. I might have felt differently if I actually read this as a prequel, but since reading it last I actually found the story to be quite meh. It was a unique idea that the story centered around a murder mystery and it gave readers an introduction to Pip's investigative skills. It also introduces readers to Andi Bell's case which book one centers around. I just felt like the story fell short compared to the other books in the series. Even though this is a personal preference, I felt like there was entirely too much language in the book especially for a book marketed as a YA series.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I've never been to a murder mystery party, but reading this book definitely made me interested in attending one! It was fun to be back in Pip's world and follow along as she investigates whodunit. It was the perfect little novella to cozy up with on a rainy night. Readers that enjoyed the Good Girls Guide to Murder series will enjoy this novella.

I wish my friends held murder mystery dinners when I was in high school, but alas, we did not. Clearly, we were a boring bunch,
This book takes place over the course of a evening. Pip and her friends play Kill Joy, a murder mystery game, and of course Pip goes all in to figure out who the murderer is. It gave me young adult clue vibes
It was such a joy to be back with Pip and her clan. This novella acts a prequel to A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. If you have not read the series, I recommend reading this one before book one, and if not there, at least before book two. I think I would have enjoyed book two more had I read this first.
I really enjoyed this, and was pleasantly surprised by the ending. It made me want to re-read the series.
