Dark, atmospheric, with an intriguing central character, Angus McNeil. Supernatural elements enhanced but did not overpower the mystery. I hope this is the beginning of a series!

This book turned into a DNF for me. I found it so boring. I couldn’t stay interested in this book. I thought it was going to be different from what it turned out to be. I was rather disappointed.

This was definitely not for me. I read to about 40% and decided that I wasn't going to continue aside wasn't enjoying the story. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Wow. Read this one! The writing was so engaging and the plot so solid I had hard time ;putting it down. While I couldn't really connect with the characters, that didn't detract from the story, surprisingly. Easily a five star read.

I got about half way done with the book, and I just couldn’t finish. I found it to be extremely uneventful and boring, and I honestly have never not finished a book. I kept waiting for it to capture my attention and keep it, but unfortunately the book fell flat and wasn’t as good as the synopsis sounded like it would be.

I was drawn to this book by its description and dramatic sounding title.
This was a dark, gritty thriller, and a very well-written one. I was drawn into the story right from the start. I didn't feel any particularly strong connection with any of the characters, or even find them particularly likeable, but the writing was so powerful, and I was drawn to the story itself more than the characters.
The book's tone, and some of its themes, reminded me of Peter May's Entry Island, which is one of my favourite books that I've read a few times.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.
