I have been provided with a review copy of Earth Called from NetGalley for an impartial review. This book was just so easy to get lost in. I completely got lost in the story and I just loved getting to see these new characters come together. I just absolutely love this story and I just didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.
What a stunning conclusion to this series! It’s so word b/c this was one of the first series I read when I really started to read and it’s so weird coming back to it now, but I adored earth called 100%!
Earth Called is a book about love. Love for those who fail us and wrong us. Love for those who are undeserving. Love for those most deserving. The story does not let love be trampled. Love is a strong decisive magic. This book brings together groups based on their actions and beliefs. Mari loves ferociously. Mother Mare or what ever name chosen by those who follow her loves the people. This book has adventure and drama but it is pulled together for an ending by the power of love.
For students, it points out easily learned lessons on jealousy, greed and lack of respect for others. It suggests standing firm with your beliefs from a position of love is strength. It has strong value lessons. All of the series has a message about strength of character, but this one says, "Love wins".
It is an excellent choice for youth to read.
P.C. Cast always delivers a good story. Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced copy. I would definitely recommend.
I really love this book and how it ended! This was such a good book in the Tales of a New World Series and I am so glad to have gotten an ARC and a chance to review it. This book really wrapped up the series well. It was quite a satisfying conclusion and a good ending to an amazing series!
Earth Called was the amazing cherry on top of a month long journey for me. After reading the rest of the series and absolutely loving them, I was so excited to jump into its conclusion. I love everything about this series there was never a point in any of the books were it seemed do die off or lose steam. The world building is beautifully done. Every setting is so well thought out and fun. The characters were fantastic, I loved the multiple povs. I felt the character development was done really well. The story line is so interesting. I loved the unique concepts that were visited and thoroughly enjoyed the animal companions. I felt this book was as a beautiful conclusion to what is now one of my favorite series.
Give me a balance of life and death-fantasy, world building, some side character love and the nostalgia of an author I’ve read for decades plus multiple books -what more do I need to say. I feel in love, and the ending was everything I wanted wrapped in a perfect bow. I’m always going to be a fan of PC Cast!
We've been waiting with hardly repressed patience for the final installment since the last novel published. Earth Called picks up where Wind Rider left off. No worries if you haven't read it yet, there are no spoilers. I adore what Cast did with this book. She took all of the elements, tribes, animals and powers accumulating through the first three and brought it together in a glorious conclusion.
There are some parts that felt rushed, especially when the buildup was a well layered climb. The bond pairings and couplings felt a little more rapid fire in this book compared to the others too. However, this was such a feel good series that centers around life and love triumphing over death, prejudices and hate that I couldn't put the final book down.
I have always enjoyed the matriarchal or feminine led societys in these fiction fantasy worlds and Tales of a New World is just as evolved in that idea. Some of Cast's series can be a bit abrupt in this arena but I felt this world was more focused on female resilience, strength, power and bonding and flowed smoother. The terrains that are covered in this world are an ode to the excellent world building through the entire series and the magic system holds strong and effortlessly evolves. Some of my favorite parts.
I alternated between the audiobook and the physical. I absolutely love that Macmillan Audio had Caitlin Davies finish out the audio series. She's carried us through each book and is a voice of character consistency. I also love her spiritual tone. I know, that sounds weird but if you know the elemental context of these books, you'd totally nod in approval too.
Thank you Wednesday Books for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Special shoutout to PC Cast for finishing out a wonderful book baby amidst other series in progress!
I started reading the first book and really wasn't feeling it. The writting was all over the place and the world building nonexistant. I looked up some reviews and found that many people found the series to be racist and unreadable. So I decided to DNF and not continue with the series and on to this final book.
This book was fantastic.. I love the characters; the story building. I felt like I was drawn into this beautiful world and ready to defeat the evil. I am going to be reading the other books in the series now and I will also be providing a full review on my blog at a later date. But I would definitely run out and grab this ASAP
EARTH CALLED is the finale to the TALES OF A NEW WORLD series. The Pack and the Wind Riders must work together against the God of Death and his plans for the world. Fortunately, the Goddess of Life (who just happens to be Death's wife) sees the impending destruction and sets out to stop him by sending Ralina, Death's Storyteller, to warn the Pack and Wind Riders of what is to come.
This is such a lush YA fantasy that mixes mythology, magic, and lots of action. The author does a good job of mixing plot with explanation - you get enough information about the world-building that you aren't confused, but it doesn't feel like a long recitation.
Mari, Nik, and the others have really grown over the series and come into their own in this last book. The animals as characters are also really special and add something to the story.
The author does an excellent job of using a fantasy story to discuss themes such as the balance of life and death, free will, and the twisting of religion to one's personal gain.
Earth Called is the perfect finale to P. C. Cast’s Tales of a New World series! This book does a wonderful job wrapping up each character’s story, while making it clear the world continues on after the final page. True to Cast’s writing this world has a calm and soothing spiritual vibe, with strong nature connections, and even stronger animal connections! I am very at peace with this ending. 🥰
Rating: 5/5
I received an eARC for my honest opinion.
What would you do if you knew that your destiny was to be the one that changed everything?
WOW, like WOW. I really did not want this book to end, I loved everything about it, and it was so hard for me to finish because I wasn’t ready for these amazing people and their journey to end. However, like all great things it had to come to an end and seriously all I can say is WOW.
I loved so many things about this series and this book. First, I loved the plot and how it was played out throughout the four books. I really enjoyed that in each book it would pick up right where it left off in the last book, but you would get small side plots throughout the book that all interweaved together in the final book. I thought the author did an amazing job with the attention to detail to really paint a picture of all the landscapes and all the people that you will meet and of course all the characters that you have come to love and hate. I thought this book was well-developed, great attention to details, amazing plot and side plots, the characters were relatable and easy to connect with, the pace of the book was fast and slow, but it was all done just right that you did not mind the slower parts, and you can feel the completeness of the series.
The characters in this book showed the most development, I loved getting to see new characters and their inner battles to the older characters finally showing their true growth. I know Mari; she really got my tears rolling in this book. To see her character grow and the love that she felt for her goddess and her people was beautiful. With Nik it was finally amazing to see his growth complete the 180 from the beginning. I mean heck everyone had their growth completed in this book and it really felt that everyone finally would have the peace that they fought so hard for.
I was able to get the eARC and audio of this book and the narrator did a wonderful job. She was able to grab you when a dramatic scene happened, awed you when a loving moment, had your heart strings in her grip when an emotional scene happened. She really helped bring this book to life.
What I enjoyed about the book the most was: caring female protagonists, strong female characters as well as male ones, kindness to all, learning how to heal, dystopian setting, great characters. I highly recommend this author and this series to all.
I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press & Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to review this book.
Mari’s new Pack and the Wind Riders do not feel ready to face Thaddeus and the God of Death. They know that if they don’t stop them, then everything will be lost. When Ralina, Death’s Storyteller, is called by the Goddess of Life … the Pack now has a fighting chance. What changes are inevitable? Who can be trusted?
Earth Called is the fourth and final book in the Tales of a New World series. This fantasy adventure starts off kind of slow as the new Pack is formed, but as the chapters flow past, the story does pick up its pace. Cast did a good job weaving together new and old tales into a fresh story, but these four books were probably one book too long. I’m glad I finished the series, but I’m also happy it is over.
Beautiful writing and a great addition to the Tales of the New World series. I will be going back and rereading the first three books because this series is worth it. Will goodness win over the God of Death or will everything be lost? The characters are wonderful and the journey this book will take you on will leave you on the edge at times.
Earth Called is a captivating read that took me on a thrilling journey through various tribes and their struggles. The Goddess of Life plays a pivotal role in helping these tribes overcome their obstacles and reach their ultimate destination. The journey is wild and full of twists and turns, making for an exciting read. The ending is particularly satisfying, bringing a wonderful series to a close. Earth Called was an intriguing read with epic adventures and powerful storytelling.
