I did not finish this book and only read until around the 20% mark. The story and writing just did not work for me. While it wasn't for me, I think this story will work for people who enjoy a slower paced gentle mystery and romance combo.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Natalie is shocked to find everything gone when she returns hone from vacation. Her ex boyfriend stole everything. She files a police report. She decides go to travel to a cottage she has. While their she meets she gets to know the detective working her case and grows to like him more and more. I liked this book.
Another wonderful, heartfelt story by one of my favorite authors, Nancy Naigle. Although this is a stand-alone novel, I'm really hoping we see more of these amazing residents of Chestnut Ridge in future books. Please, Nancy, please!! I want more!
While coping with the death of her beloved husband Jeremy, Natalie Maynard, in her vulnerable state, is befriended by a smooth talking, attentive con-artist who steals practically everything she owns. Dealing with the loss of her home and other possessions and the embarrassment of falling for this con-man, Natalie must pick up the pieces to her life and start all over again. She moves into the one possession she still owns... a rustic cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thankfully, with the help of her best friend Sheila, and a good-guy detective who shows Natalie how to trust again, and a small town filled with heartwarming residents who are ready to help, Natalie is able to put her life back together.
In typical Nancy Naigle style, this book brings us warmth, faith, compassion and a sense of "family", whether connected by blood or not.
Thoroughly beautiful heartwarming story, just as I always expect from the fabulous author Nancy Naigle. She is so very talented!
This story has some heartbreaking issues, but just as strong woman do, with or without the help of friends’ support, they rise as the phoenix and continue to construct a new happy future.
I adore (most) the characters Ms. Naigle created. I cared immediately about the main female character, Natalie, and wanted only the best for her. I know reading a romance book that all be fine in the end, which is one of the reasons I enjoy this genre so much.
A huge thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for giving me the immense pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
This is such a heartwarming book. I loved the characters. The writing is very good. It’s a fast read. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Imagine being on a romantic trip to the beach with your new love and thinking everything is good in life, only to come home and realize the man you've fallen for and trusted is a con and has stolen everything from you. All you have is the luggage you returned with and memories and a load of distrust for people.
Widow Natalie lived this and decided to start over somewhere else. Somewhere closer to her late husband so she can have her memories, regain her faith in herself and learn to love and form family.
She finds the little cabin in Chestnut Ridge that her late husband adored and forms friendships, relationship and love with people around her.
This is a cute little contemporary read. Ive never read anything from Naigle prior to this and was not disappointed. Her writing style was easy to follow. Character development was good. It was a book that had me hooked from the first chapter.
I have already started telling people they need to catch this one.
Thanks to Netgalley and St Martins Press for the eARC. I look forward to seeing it out in a few months.
This was a fun story to read! It was a unique storyline to me, and I loved showing the mental trauma that comes from being conned (members of my family have dealt with this and it is really terrible to live through). I liked Randy and Natalie's story, they are a cute couple. They are both decent people who just want to do good in the world. Personally, I have dreams of moving to a cabin in the mountains with all my books, never having any major responsibilities or social life again (its the introvert in me lol), so I was drawn to Natalie's adventure up in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I loved the little town near her cabin, and all the wonderful small-town vibes that Natalie could re-establish her sense of security in. And I love a little mystery and intrigue as well with Randy tracking down the con and all of Natalie's possessions. It was a cute, sweet story that had a nice ending.
It moved a little slower than I would have liked, and it was a bit predictable to me (not necessarily a bad thing), but I was anxious to finish the book because it felt a little bland at times to me, Certain parts of the characters personalities felt a little unrealistic to me, and that was hard to keep me engaged in the story.
Natalie is a recent widow who started dating Marc Swindell and comes home from a vacation that he left her on to find that he had literally taken everything from her. Detective Randy Fellows is there to help solve the case of her con-artist boyfriend but he becomes a good friend to Natalie as well. Natalie moves to Chestnut Ridge where her late husband, Jeremy, is from to the hunting cabin that is the only thing she has left. The small town takes her in and makes her feel like one of their own. She finds out so much about Jeremy and his family and finds herself again after feeling like she has nothing left.
I am a huge Nancy Naigle fan so when I saw this, I had to read it and it definitely did not disappoint! I love how Detective Randy Fellows is patient with Natalie and waits till she is comfortable to pursue anything. I also really loved the relationship with Paul and how that connection is formed. I also enjoyed the mystery aspect of trying to find the con-artist. I wish we had gotten a little more of Randy and Natalie's relationship.
Thanks to NetGalley St. Martins Press, MacMillan Audio, and Nancy Naigle for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review. My review will be live on my instagram @annas.book.reviews on 2/22/23.
This book grabbed my attention quick with the story line of a young widow being conned. Workaholic detective was motivated to help Natalie and be there for her as well. I enjoyed getting to follow Natalie through healing and starting over. Would have liked for parts to have been more detailed and other things less detailed. I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Girl meets the man of her dreams, puts her needs before his… until he cleans her out, and she finds out she is full and pray to a ConMan.
As she works with the detective, on this case, they both find themselves drawn to each other
Such a wonderful, uplifting, romantic story… I read this book in one sitting, and I realize I don’t read enough by this author, and I will change that immediately!
I loved this book! .. Natalie is funny yet vulnerable while discovering her boyfriend is an expert romance scam artist! Detective Randy Fellowes is supportive and dependable and stays on the case to stay close to Natalie. I liked the slow build up of the relationship between Natalie and Randy.
This is a great read to curl up with! I have found a new favorite author, thank you Net Galley! Thank you Ms. Naigle for a great book!
And Then There Was You by Nancy Naigle. A delightful, almost fairy tale of a story. Love, compassion, laughter and tears along with a small town populated with an array of memorable characters. Randy and Natalie are perfect for each other and as they get to know one another, their love grows stronger. A very entertaining and pleasant read.
Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Another enjoyable romance from Nancy Naigle. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this one. I especially liked the description of the small mountain town the Natalie retreats to after falling victim to a con artist. The characters are warm and quirky. The story a sweet romance. No real stress here, just a nice easy read.
Natalie thinks she is finally seeing the light at the end of a long dark tunnel. Recently widowed, she started dating the man of her dreams. They have moved in together and combined their finances for an investment property. He has taken her on a dream vacation only to be called back to the office early. But he cares and takes such good care of her that he wants her to finish out the vacation with days at the spa and rest. After the deluxe spa treatment, she returns home to find that he has trimmed the hedges, done some work around the front of the house and cleaned out the inside of the house. Not even a hanger left.
As Natalie realizes that she has fallen prey to a con artist, she begins working with Detective Fellowes. Her trust level and her bank account are now at zero until she remembers an old fishing cabin that belonged to her husband. Determined to start anew, she relocates to Chestnut Ridge where with the help of the community and Detective Fellowes, she begins to start over.
Nancy Naigle does a wonderful job of painting the scenery. One can almost picture the mountains, trees and water in the creek. The characters throughout the book have a life of their own with a few surprises. “And Then There Was You” is the perfect winter book to curl up on the couch and entered into the life of Natalie as she rediscovers herself. Thank you NetGalley, St Martin’s Press and Nancy Naigle for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Widow Natalie Maynard has had almost everything taken from her by a con artist. Detective Randy Fellowes is assigned her case. Randy is married to his job, but there is something about Natalie that attracts him. When Natalie decides to move to her late husbands home town Randy is determined to stay in her life. This is a lovely story about starting over, making new friends, finding family and having a second chance at love.
This may be one of my new favorite books! It felt like a warm hug and makes me want to run away to the Blue Ridge Mountains. This was my first novel by Nancy Naigle but will not be my last! It was heartwarming and inspirational and I adored it!
This is an entertaining, quick and satisfying read. It is the story of Natalie moving on after losing the love of her life and then being swindled out of all her possessions. It’s the tale of building a new life, of having a strong support system, the meaning of family, and of new love. It was heartwarming and I enjoyed reading this book.
Absolutely loved this story. I thought I knew where the story was going at the beginning. Boy was I wrong. I love the small town. I would definitely like more books set in this town. The characters are wonderful. Smart, funny, strong , caring, loving. Nancy hit this one out of the park.
good romance in a small town and getting over being tricked and finding friends and love. loved the cop and her friend.
Once again, Nancy Naigle has knocked its out of the park! You always find a way to pull me in at the very beginning. Poor Natalie lost her husband and then gets involved with a swindler. The case gets assigned to Randy and he moves mountains to find the swindler and make him pay for what he did to Natalie. In the meantime, Natalie moves away to a cabin of her late husband which is out in the middle of no where in a small town In the mountains. Will Natalie learn to live in a small town as opposed to the city? Will Randy find the swindler? And will Natalie learn to trust again? Be sure and not miss this great story. I highly recommend. Thank you for the chance to read and review this great clean story.
