I requested to read and review this book for free from St. Martin Publishing Company. This author has wrote another fantastic book. I just loved the character in Chestnut Ridge. I am hoping there is a second book to follow on this town and character Sheila, Randy, and Natalie. This book is for a mature reader and can be read anywhere. Loss is a hard thing to deal with and come to terms with. Trust is also something that can be lost quickly and be hard to earn back. But second chances for some do exist if we can open ourselves to it. Can love happen to a person more then once ? Or do we only have one soul mate? Sometimes before we can look at love we need to be true to ourselves first and learn to trust ourselves.

Lovely charming book.

Enjoyable read while cozied up during the winter. It wasn't intensely dramatic and I love the small town charm aspect of the novel. Sweet all around with a focus on finding and leaning on your support structure while learning to take the reins on life and restart. It was refreshing and comforting. Highly recommend.

Gripping thriller meets romance novel! As a reader who loves both, I sometimes miss the other when sticking to a certain genre. This had the perfect amount of both and kept me glued to my seat wanting more! Highly recommend!

Chestnut Ridge, Virginia - Present Day

Widow Natalie Maynard is returning from a magical vacation in Cancun that she spent with the new man in her life, Marc. He left a few days early to attend to business back in Virginia, so Natalie is traveling alone. But when she arrives home, her credit card is denied by the taxi service, and when she opens the door to the house she and Marc bought together, everything is gone - furniture, clothing, jewelry, and her car.

The detective assigned to Natalie's case, Randy Fellowes is determined to track down the con artist and also to keep him from moving on to the next woman. He is also attracted to Natalie, but isn't sure that now is the time for a relationship with her. Assuring her that he will stay on the case, as well as keeping her informed of any updates, Randy tries to temper his need to see Natalie whenever he can.

One of the few things that Natalie's husband, Jeremy, left that wasn't stolen by Marc was his classic Mustang, giving her transportation. Moving in with her best friend, Sheila, Natalie knows she will have to find a way to move on. As a geriatric nurse, she could go back to that profession. Instead, she decides to continue with her artwork, making cards to sell, something she had been doing for fun before Marc came into her life. Knowing that she can't live with Sheila forever, Natalie moves to Chestnut Ridge and the cabin that Jeremy used for hunting and fishing. It's an isolated place, but upon arrival in the town, Natalie is immediately taken under the wing of a local woman who knew Jeremy. And soon, other townspeople are offering her assistance.

Randy gets a few leads, and uses these as an excuse to keep in contact with Natalie. The more he is around her, the more difficult it is not to tell her how he feels about her. And Natalie is starting to get used to the handsome detective, enjoying his company more and more. But will Randy be able to track down the con man, and find a way to keep him from destroying another woman's life?

AND THEN THERE WAS YOU is an enjoyable tale with a realistic premise and likable characters. Chestnut Ridge inhabitants welcome Natalie with open arms, but they have a secret that they are keeping from her. How will she deal with another surprise in her life?

A mystery, a romance, and the background of the Virginia mountains, AND THEN THERE WAS YOU is a quick, emotional read.

This is my first novel of Nancy Naigle’s and I am very impressed! I really enjoyed her writing style and how it flows the whole way through. The characters were top notch and I really felt as if I knew the characters!

It's a heartwarming, emotional
& intriguing romance.
Natalie lost her husband two
years ago. She felt it was time
to move on. That is until she returned from vacation, when
her whole life was turned
upside down. Randy, a Detective,
met with Natalie. He didn't
believe her story at first.
He worked hard on solving the case. And his growing feelings
for her were undeniable.
Great characters you will fall
in love with. Small town charm.
I was captivated by the book
from the start. It's a beautiful story of family, love & loss.
And a chance at love the
second time around.
I loved reading every page!!

Everything I've read by Nancy Naigle, I've loved. Imagine my surprise when I get an email from her publicist inviting me to read and review her newest novel. And it was a welcomed invitation!

Taking place primarily in Chestnut Ridge, Virginia, near the North Carolina border, this is a book about overcoming adversity in the best way possible. It's about picking yourself up, dusting yourself off, and starting all over again after everything has been taken from you. This is a book about finding help in unexpected places, of feeling alone but finding you never were alone, and especially about restoring what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25, if you are curious about the reference).

Natalie was taken to the cleaners by a con artist. The detective assigned to her case finds something in Natalie that compels him to want to know more. He tries so hard to get a date with her to find her quite gun-shy. At a loss for what to do about living arrangements, Natalie remembers that her husband has a hunting cabin in Chestnut Ridge. So she packs up her few belongings and heads for the hills. On the way she meets several characters who add color and light to her life, and eventually finds that she isn't as alone as she believed she was. The detective, Randy Fellowes, still keeps in contact with her even though the case is seemingly at a dead end. The breakthrough comes when Randy meets a detective from North Carolina who is investigating a similar case in his own jurisdiction.

From the beginning it is not easily discernable if Natalie will have a love interest, or whom it will be. There are two contenders for the role. There are a few characters in the book who are throw-away characters that don't seem to have much of a role in fleshing out the plot, they are just there as place-holders--mentioned a couple of times and then disappearing from the warp and weft of the plot. The book is not easy to put down once you get caught up in the story. I am so glad I was invited to read this offering by Nancy and hope to read her future novels.

Four Strong Stars.

Contemporary light romance. It’s a sweet novel but a bit slow. A good read but not one that will stay with me. Well written and the descriptive writing had me feeling like I was in the Blue Ridge mountains. There’s no wow factor but it is an enjoyable read.

And Then There Was You by Nancy Naigle. What would you do if the person you loved stole everything you owned? How would you deal with it. The story was like a fairy tale. Sweet and enchanting.

Classic Nancy Naigle writing style—inspirational and heartwarming contemporary light romance. Natalie Maynard is heartbreakingly scammed by a professional conman who takes everything she has and leaves her broke and alone. Her husband, Jeremy, is deceased. Detective Randy Fellowes gently handles her wrecked emotions and, over time and distance develops romantic feelings for her.

Natalie has to start over and decides to move to a rustic cabin her husband owned in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Arriving in Chestnut Ridge, she meets the sweetest elderly lady, Orene, who remembers Jeremy. It seems the town has been waiting for Natalie to come to the cabin which is simple, yet perfect for her needs. The Detective stays in touch, although leads on the culprit are few. Reminders of Natalie’s husband are everywhere, and Natalie loves living there in the middle of nature. It gives her inspiration for her note card designs. Orene introduces her to a man, Jesse, who hires Natalie to drive an elderly gentleman on errands and appointments. Mr. Paul Grandstaff and Natalie slowly get to know each other although he won’t allow her inside the gate to his home. Randy comes to visit her and they enjoy a platonic relationship, so far.

Natalie soon learns why Paul doesn’t want anyone to see his home. He’s an unusual man with a beautiful home that shows his sweet soul, yet others might not understand. Randy gets a hot lead on the conman’s whereabouts and he’s arrested. Natalie is very thankful. With Randy’s encouragement, Mr. Grandstaff reveals a secret he’s been hiding for years. The story has a special and happy ending.

I honestly reviewed an unedited digital arc provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. All opinions are my own.

A good cozy romance set in rural Virginia. When Natalie, a young widow, returns home from vacation she finds that she has been conned by her boyfriend. Meeting the detective assigned to help, Randy, is a definite positive. Enjoyed this one, although at times a bit too neatly wrapped up, I still found the characters and the story a fun read. Like this author's work, and would highly recommend.

Then There Was You is a stand-alone novel that follows Natalie who is seeking a fresh start. Natalie has a terrible tragedy after terrible tragedy happen to her which leads to her life perspective shift.

While this book is written in third person, the author slips in first person narrative for the characters “side thoughts” which I thoroughly enjoyed. The author’s writing style was fast-paced and easily understood. I haven’t read any other books by this author, but I might seek them out now!

The twists and turns in this romance/mystery were entertaining and kept me going. The middle was the book did drag out a little for me, but by the end I understood that the character building was needed to wrap up loose ends.

Overall, I enjoyed this read and gave it 3/5 stars due to the slight drag in the middle. I recommend to give this book a shot!

This story held my attention from the very beginning. When Natalie returns from a trip, she has quite a shock when she opens her door. Refusing to believe the love of her life could have betrayed her, she is reluctant to believe the detectives that she's maybe been a victim of a con artist. Her life is about to change as she learns to eventually trust her instincts again and fine solace in a small cozy town and learn to trust and love again.
I never miss a chance to read a story by Nancy Naigle. She never disappoints.

Mountain view in the fall, a hot detective who wants to help and does his job and a setting straight out of a holiday hallmark movie! I could not put this book down it legit was so beautiful and the romance was overly done. It was a perfect picking yourself back up, dusting off and moving foward finding yourself story. Nancy definitely put detail into her story line and into her characters. I so hope that there is more to come I'm invested in Natalie and Randy's relationship and there life together.
I will be purchasing this book to physically own when released in June 2023

This was good read! I haven't read anything else in the "Chestnut Ridge" books so hadn't heard of any of the characters or the setting before. However, this book can easily stand alone and one doesn't need to have experience with any of the other books in order to appreciate and understand everything that takes place in this particular book.
The book opens with a great scene which propels us immediately into the heart of the problem and introduces us to the main characters swiftly. Interestingly, this book did not have the very common romance trope of eyes meeting, falling in love, there's something about her/him (the ZING, if you will). Instead, this is very much a slow burn. In fact, The Storygraph has this book listed as medium-paced and I think that would be grossly over-stating the pacing here.
Unlike many romance novels (even Christian ones), the main characters spend very little time together on the page until close to the mid-point. The book alludes to weekly visits over many months with the FMC needing the help of the MMC (he's a detective) which is the time that they get to know each other enough for the FMC to be start being comfortable with the MMC enough to open up a little bit (as she's got trust issues and some trauma to work through). However, little to nothing happens between them until the last third of the book.
Interestingly, the book has almost a double storyline which includes not only the romance (which develops very slowly), but there's also a story of family woven throughout. There's a distinct theme of family not only being those we're related to by blood, but of family being those who support us and those who we choose and who choose us. It's on the back of this idea that the FMC comes to mean so much to and comes to really love and appreciate the people of Chestnut Ridge, even finding family she didn't know she had.
Overall, this was a lovely story if a little understated. The pacing, I suspect, had quite a bit to do with giving the FMC time to adjust and overcome her past hurts more than anything else. But, as she comes to be more comfortable and finds herself again, she comes out of her shell and is open to possibilities once again.

A cute, quick, light read! The story engages you right from the beginning as Natalie’s world is swept out from under her. The story builds and deepens with a slow-build romance and small-town feel.

DNF. I tried but I couldn’t make it much more than 25% through the book.

I didn’t like the style of writing. It felt very Elin Hilderbrand to me, and I am not a fan of her writing. I also didn’t like the religion coming up multiple times already… or when Orene prayed to God to say thanks “for our nation, our president…”. I couldn’t do it after that.

What an awesome book by Nancy Naigle. I have read several of hers and after I finish each one, I say that has to be the best one yet. Now that I have finished this one, I still feel the same. This has to be the best one yet.

The book starts out with Natalie and Marc taking a dream vacation to Cancun. He leaves early but has the rest of her trip planned for her. When she comes home her life is turned upside down. The book takes you through her challenges and a lot of ups and downs in her life.

She finds some remarkable friends along the way. I highly recommend that you put this book on your to be read list. Im so glad that I did.

I'm so happy to have read another story by this brilliant author!

And Then There Was You by Nancy Naigle is a very sweet, heart- warming book which deals on human emotions and relationships in a very mature manner. And it was a delight to read from start to finish.
I loved being in Chestnut Ridge with Natalie and Jeremy.
Her characters draw you into the story & don’t release their hold on you until you're done with wonderfully told story.
I felt as if I was right there in the mountains of Virginia from the author’s skillful use of the beautifully described scenery.
Naigle's writing is refreshing and engaging, making this a wonderful book to totally get lost in.
Once again Nancy Naigle sucked into a captivating page-turner that I just coukdnt get enough of.
