I loved this story about Natalie/Jeremy and getting mixed up with a con man and then Randy. Natalie was widowed when married to Jeremy . She had her best friend Sheila. After she lost everything, she remembered that Jeremy's family cabin and that is where she decided to move. to Chestnut Ridge in the Blue ridge mountains of Virginia and thus her journey begins. This is a VERY GOOD READ,
What’s great story, After being conned by a man Natalie finds it hard to trust anyone. Moving to the lovely blue ridge mountains she slowly gets her trust back and finds love again.
This story did not disappoint! I gave read others by Nancy Naigle, so when I saw this one, I didn’t hesitate to request it. What a good wholesome story about Natalie trying to get back into life after her husband passes away and she is victim to a con man. The story unfolds and she gets back on her feet and discovers family she never knew about. I will be looking forward to reading more in this series.
I really enjoyed this book! Thanks to Nancy Naigle, Netgalley and St Martins Griffen for this ARC of And Then There Was You: A Chestnut Ridge Novel. The story tied together so well and flowed nicely! I liked everything about this!
Once again Nancy Naigle has knocked it out of the park! She always finds a way to pull me in at the very beginning. Poor Natalie lost her husband and then gets involved with a swindler. The case is assigned to Randy and he moved mountains to find the swindler and make him pay for what he did to Natalie. In the meantime, she moves from the city to a cabin of her late husband which is out in the middle of nowhere in a small town. Will Natalie learn to live in a small town as opposed to the city? Will Randy find the swindler? And will Natalie learn to trust again? It’s a wonderful story! So don’t miss it! I highly recommend. Thank you for the chance to read and review this very touching clean story.
I liked this book alright but it didn't hit all the right notes with me.
Natalie is lovely and flawed and oh, so real. She has a real gem in her best friend, Sheila! We ALL need a friend like Sheila!! The whole Marc storyline, while necessary to the story, was so icky and something hard for me to read. You always read about that happening to "someone else" and it's awful. The fact that she was literally so "taken" by him while she was still grieving Jeremy's death was hard to read. Heartbreaking.
The fact that Randy, the officer/investigator first on scene and who takes on her case, became so much more than just another officer was very cute but slightly hard to believe all at the same time. He's clearly a good guy that Natalie desperately needed in her life.
Orene and Paul were both a hoot. I thoroughly enjoyed their characters and all they brought to the story and to Natalie's life.
I didn't like how the story wrapped up. It seemed to rushed and not enough time was given to the truth she learned and the outcome with Randy. I wish the author would've dedicated more time to give it a fuller ending.
i will read anything she writes. I see it , therefore i want it. must read all of them. just get them.
My first book review of the year and I'm excited. It was really good. The characters were so sweet that I felt like I could relate to them. I always wanted to know what living in a small town would be like. After reading this I could see myself living in one. I am grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
You are all in for a treat!
No matter if you are on a beach, or sitting by the fireplace with hot cocoa, this is a quick, light, heartwarming, romantic story of a young woman who loses almost every single thing, yet finds the strength to remarkably move forward in her life.
"When life gives you lemons-make lemonade" is the perfect way to describe main character, Natalie.
This is an enjoyable, sweet, well written novel that had me feeling as though I was truly in the Blue Ridge Mountains walking the town and staying with my favorite character Orene,
Such a special lady that I want to know and so will you.
Thank you to @Netgalley and @St. Matin's Press for this ARC and allowing me to read and provide my own review.
And Then There Was You by N. Naigle, published by St. Martin's Press Griffin, is a A Chestnut Ridge Novel.
A sweet smalltown romance tells it the story of Natalie, a widow, and Randy a Detective.
A heart-warming story, well written, just beautiful, 4,5 stars.
Nancy Naigle does not disappoint, and 'And Then There Was You' is no exception. I was gripped from the very first scenes in the book and followed along with the heartbreak and joy that Natalie experience as a young widow and then a victim of a vicious, emotional and financial crime. The romance element with Randy was slow and believable, although there were no surprises for me with familial revelations in the ending. The setting was wonderful and made me believe if I would go the the Blue Ridge Mountains I could find a town like Chestnut Grove. I hope this is a series and I can look forward to more.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Take a disheartening crime and mix in some, shall we say, fairy dust and you have the latest novel by Nancy Naigle. Set in the Blue Mountains Nancy Naigle includes the fabulous scenic wonder of the mountains, forests, bridges as intrinsic characters of her story. The tale comes alive with elements of trust, belonging, faith, love, and friendship. AND THEN THERE WAS YOU is Natalie’s tale.
Married to her beloved Jeremy, Natalie’s joy was rather short lived with his passing so young. Both Jeremy and Natalie had found each other’s life partner. Shared so much in common. Neither had any extended family, it was just the two of them and some dear friends.
Natalie was truly distraught when she lost Jeremy. Her heartbreak made her the perfect target, victim of a man set on gaining control of her assets. These were the things she had left of her life with Jeremy and this terrible man took them all.
She, of course, was not the first woman to fall prey to a con man. But her pride was shattered along with her trusting nature. Everything was gone. Treasured items from her parents, her marriage. Now she found herself shattered again having huge issues with going on.
The one thing that this conman did not steal was a fishing cabin that Jeremy used for a relaxing getaway now and again. Pretty rustic but Natalie had some pleasant memories of spending a few moments with Jeremy there. So that’s where she headed. No real expectations, just a need to regroup and find a new normal. She never anticipated the small-town welcome. Most knew Jeremy. Knew he had married and referred to her as Jeremy’s widow. They were all very fond of Jeremy and now seem to take her under their wing as a new member of their community.
Randy was the investigator on the case. But in truth he was far more interested in this lovely woman. Solving her case was his mission. Gaining a spot in her life and trust was his unsaid goal. He was honest when he warned of the odds of locating any of her stolen belongings. These con artists are good at covering their tracks. But Randy was truly motivated to learn as much as he could and follow any leads. Only time would tell.
Time in Chestnut Ridge was the stuff dreams are made of. It appears anything you wanted was possible. Natalie made new friends, folk that became dear to her, and a renewed interest in her artistic talents. Certainly a completely different lifestyle than before. But now she was finally walking gingerly to her new future. One without Jeremy. But now encompassing many new sources of love and caring.
AND THEN THERE WAS YOU by Nancy Naigle takes us on a journey from despair to hope. There is a certain amount of literary license and suspending disbelief. All well done by this writer who makes her characters come alive through their conversations and dialog. A truly joy filled tale of belonging. Memorable characters abound in AND THEN THERE WAS YOU. Nancy Naigle creative genius made this wondrous story come alive.
