Natalie is a young widow. She is returning to her home from a wonderful vacation in Mexico. She was taken on the vacation by a man who has swept her off her feet.

When she arrives home she finds that the man has stolen everything she had except the clothes and personal items she had taken on vacation. Even pictures on the wall of their shared home are gone.

Natalie has been conned by one of the best in the business.

Natalie collapses and ends up in the hospital. That is where a detective, Randy Fellowes, finds her. When he explains what he believes to be true about what happened, Natalie does not accept it, not at first.

It is a very difficult thing to come to the conclusion that someone you believed to care for you, has stolen your entire life.

Eventually, Natalie recalls that her late husband, Jeremy, had a cabin in the Blue Ridge mountains. That can be safe place for her. It can be a place that no one can take from her.

When she goes to the town, Chestnut Ridge, near the cabin, she falls into a wonderful situation. She finds that everyone in this small town knew her late husband and loved him. He was a favorite son.

The people in this town are kind hearted toward her and she is made to feel as though she has become a part of the town. She is told over and over that “they take care of their own.” And Natalie has become one of their own.

This is a warm hearted and charming story. Ms Naigle is a writer who always brings me to a place that is filled with warmth.

Natalie becomes immersed in the small town, and slowly she is rebuilding her confidence. She begins to believe in herself again. She finds work which helps her self esteem. In short, she is in a very good place.

Randy is working very hard to try to find the con artist who ruined Natalie’s life. But, as he has explained, it is not always possible to find the person who has done such a terrible thing to Natalie. But, the difficulty does not prevent him from continuing to work overtime to help find the villain who robbed Natalie.

At the same time, he is also falling in love with Natalie. He is such a good man and no matter his emotions, he works hard to find justice for Natalie.

As a matter of fact, everyone in this story is a good person who tries to do what is best for the world. Chestnut Ridge is not only a truly beautiful part of the country, but it is a welcoming place for people who enter there.
Everyone would like to find such a welcoming place to live.

I received this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I am voluntarily writing this review and all opinions are completely my own.

“And Then There Was You” A Chestnut Ridge Novel by Nancy Naigle
Heartbreak, Romance, And Then..
Oh, my what a wild ride this story was for me. This is a sweet clean contemporary romance with heartbreak and healing, and the beginning of a new series in a wonderful tiny town in the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains. I look forward to re-visiting this town in future stories in this series. Yes, the tears flowed a time or two, and then the sun came out and the smiles shown bright. I loved this story. Happy Reading ! !
Note: This review expresses my honest review.

Natalie returns home from a romantic vacation with her boyfriend, only to find her house completely cleared out. Even the nail holes where pictures had hung were patched. She realizes that her now ex boyfriend is a con artist, and all she has left is what she brought with her on vacation. With the help of her best friend Sheila and the handsome detective Randy, Natalie picks herself up and begins a new life at her late husband’s cabin in the charming and scenic Chestnut Ridge.

This was a very heartwarming and wholesome love story. The small town characters were all so lovely, and it made me wish I could drop into a similar town immediately. It was just so cute. With recurring themes of found family, it was the perfect Hallmark-esque story.

Thank you to Nancy Naigle, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review. This book is due to be published on June 27, 2023.

And Then There Was You is the story of Natalie, a young widow, and the fall-out when she discovers she's been duped by the man she'd been dating. Her emotions run the gamut from feeling foolish to wondering how she'll ever be able to trust anyone again. She's at the point of having to start over with a new home in a new town. That new start could be just what she needs. What she finds is a lovely small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains and some endearing local characters who, if Natalie allows herself to trust again, will help her find a new life. It was a nice story about starting over. I loved Nancy Naigle's description of setting and people. And I loved the expected happy resolution. Recommended to fans of the author, a small town setting and women's fiction.

Natalie's husband has passed away. Starting over is hard, but she has been in Cancun on vacation. When Natalie returns home she finds her house empty. Everything she had is gone! All thanks to the swindler/con artist she was involved with.
Detective Randy Fellowes has been assigned to her case. He is attracted to Natalie but married to his job.
Natalie decides to escape to Chestnut Ridge to Jeremy's family cabin.
Can Natalie start over again? Can she find peace with in herself?
A story of starting over, second chance at love, new friends and finding family. Heartwarming and intriguing. I love the small town, the Blue Ridge Mountain setting.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you NetGalley, Nancy Naigle and St. Martin's Press, for the ARC of And Then There Was You. This is my personal review.
I have to say that this book was one that kept me so involved in reading I lost track of time when I read.
Natalie was healing after the death of her husband. She was on a fabulous vacation only to return home and find that her entire world had crumbled.
Natalie knew she had to pull her life together, so she went to a cabin her husband had for many years.
She was so unsure of what was the truth and what she needed to trust.
Having a professional conman take everything she owned brought her to Detective Randy Fellowes and to the small town where the cabin is located.
This is a book you will be so glad if you pick up to read.
I liked all the characters in the story, Ok except the conman.
I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Charming small town romance with a bit of mystery thrown in. No steamy sexy.. it takes the whole book for Randy to win her heart. It does seem just to all fall together in the end. I did figure out the secret before they said there was one. Definitely a fun quick read.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC

I loved this story about Natalie. My heart broke for her in the beginning of the book and I found myself thinking about her and telling others about the plot of the latest book I was reading - I NEVER do anything like that!

This is such a wholesome story that is set in my favorite part of the world with some amazing characters! Randy seems like a wholesome gentleman that isn’t afraid to say what he’s thinking or feeling, and he knows better than to push himself on Natalie but puts his feelings out there so that when she is ready, he would be interested in a relationship with her. I finally found a book where I wasn’t shouting at the characters to “use your words” and let each other know what you are thinking.

Thank you Nancy Naigle for a wonderful story. Free of profanity and sexual content. And a HUGE thank you for including prayers, church and God in you book!

A dynamic story with all of the feels. I absolutely loved the twists and turns within the pages. It is a surprising and refreshing look at small town life. It honestly brought back memories of the love and enjoyment I had serving as a nurse aide in my youth. The characters are likeable, well all but one and I would love to live in Chestnut Ridge. Naigle has the ability to take from reality and turn it into the perfect fictional town.

I hope we will hear more from Chestnut Ridge in the future.

If only there really were such things as fairy stones...

And Then There Was You by Nancy Naigle is the first book in the Chestnut Ridge series. How Natalie Maynard ends up in Chestnut Ridge is a major factor in this story. That event also brought Detective Randy Fellowes into Natalie's life. How Natalie adjusts to her new life, find friends and family and a cute puppy named Buzz is a very entertaining story. Ms. Naigle made the town of Chestnut Ridge into a place I'd be happy to live in. The people are all so caring and helpful. I enjoyed this storyline - something different bringing people together. This is a super beginning to the series.

And Then There Was You: A Chestnut Ridge Novel by Nancy Naigle

This book was so good. I felt so sorry for Natalie when she was duped by a con man that pretended to love her. It takes away your confidence when things like that happen and makes you not trust in other people. When she loses pretty much everything she escapes to her late husband’s fishing cabin where she finds refuge and a small town of wonderful people who take her in and make her family. There were so many touching moments in this book. It made me want to crawl into the pages so I could visit Chestnut Ridge. Kudos to Nancy Naigle who once again created a wonderful place that everyone will want to visit!

"Families can be difficult." So says one insightful character. On the other hand, as Natalie Maynard learns, family can cocoon you in a warm sense of being loved and safe. By the time I finished this book, I know I felt like I wanted to give a warm hug to everyone, family, friends, and loved ones, not to mention my dog. What a delightful, embracing nod to belonging, family, and finding your own safe space. And, let's not forget that adorable Beagle puppy whose name I'll leave readers to learn as they read.

To be brief, Natalie is conned out of almost everything she had, including self esteem. Friends like Sheila immediately step forward to help while detective Randy Fellowes vows to solve the mystery of who did it and restore as much of Natalie's life and well-being as is humanly possible. Let's just say, he's attracted to Natalie but feels he can't acknowledge that until all is put right.

In the meantime, Natalie is finding a welcoming home in Chestnut Ridge, inspired by the author's own home amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains. She's finding family, yes, but also herself. Her talents. She's also learning that family doesn't only mean the people you're related to but those who embrace you as family. In fact, she discovers far more in Chestnut Ridge.

Fans of romance, especially with a touch of mystery, will love this book. Heck, I don't even read much romance nowadays and it left me with the warm fuzzies. I'm looking forward to my next visit. Thanks #NetGalley and #StMartinsPress for introducing me to Chestnut Ridge. My early years were spent in the hills of Ohio, so I had the sense of returning home. No castles where I lived, though, dang it.

This was such a sweet and cozy light read and my first by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Natalie is a recently widowed young woman who gets "swindled" by a con man. He's a smooth talker with ulterior motives that she soon learns of when she returns from a once in a lifetime vacation. If it seems too good to be true.....it usually is and this was the case for Natalie.

Upon realizing she's been duped, Natalie meets Detective Randy Fellowes who she soon realizes not only wants to help her find the man that took her for everything she had but also that he may want to be more than friends. However, she isn't staying in town but decides to move to the mountains in a cabin that's in the family. The little mountain town and it's inhabitants become more than just neighbors and good friends, she soon learns that they're more than that. She finds peace, herself and love.

I enjoyed this book and the settings/plot. The characters were so easy to like and the whole time I was rooting for Natalie and Randy.

I love Nancy Naigle books, and this was no exception, love the setting and the characters, very good story..

Natalie Maynard has had a time of it. And that is putting it mildly.

A widow, Natalie thinks she has found love again. They have bought a house and moved in together and now she is returning from a lush vacation with said love. Only he had to come back a couple of days early. Suspicious, no?

Imagine her shock when she shows up at home to find it isn’t really home at all. And the new love is an old con! With nothing left, she heads to a place she does still have. A cabin. In Chestnut Ridge.

As Detective Fellowes works to track down the scoundrel and retrieve something for Natalie, they also begin to have feelings for each other.

A man who is married to the job is suddenly catching his thoughts wandering to Natalie. But with all she has been through will she be interested in him?

As he works to find the culprit, Natalie is meeting her neighbors and the people in the town and finds she likes them and the town a lot. But are they keeping secrets too?

This is the author doing what she does best. Writing about love, loss, trust, and hope.

I received an Advanced Reader copy from Netgalley for my honest review. The writing is spectacular. I felt like I could picture the town, the cabin, and the Blue Ridge mountains. The premise of family and what makes a family can be explored through friendships. The story of Natalie being conned almost becomes the back story, while the town folks of Chestnut Ridge grow in importance. Paul, Orene, Tucker, and Sheila show us the meaning of friendship and family. I am happy that this is the first book of the series. I definitely will read the others! What a great story!

My Thoughts

Natalie Maynard finds herself blindsided by a man who turns out to be a very accomplished liar who took not only her physical belongings but her self confidence in herself as well.

Her case seems to be at a standstill for the longest no matter how much effort and time Detective Randy Fellowes puts into solving it.

As time passes they both feel drawn to each other but Natalie is understandably hesitant to act while Randy remains professional with her but finds her on his mind more and more often.

Finally utilizing some of her few remaining assets, her husbands beloved Mustang as well as his rustic cabin, Natalie moves to Chestnut Ridge and discovers not only people she can connect with and depend on but that she still has the ability to make her own way in a new life.

A life that has more than one unexpected turn but one I particularly found exactly right for Natalie.

Catching a few needed breaks Randy slowly unravels the trail left by the swindler.

Along the way both he and Natalie discover more and more about each other to the point a solid relationship forms between them.

Powerful and moving.
