I absolutely love Megan Goldin's writing style. Rachel Krall's character finds herself in the middle of another investigation where the case offers a series of twists and turns. I loved seeing Rachel being given a love interest and further character development! Thank you for the arc!

While Dark Corners is the second book starring true crime podcaster Rachel Krall, it can easily be read as a standalone. I did read the first book (The Night Swim), and preferred Dark Corners!
When a social media influencer goes missing after visiting a man in prison for breaking and entering, the FBI’s only clue is Rachel Krall. The prisoner had told the influencer to find Rachel, and the FBI follow this lead and fly Rachel to Florida. She sets up an influencer account to infiltrate BuzzCon, a convention for influencers. As the clues begin to add up, a killer starts to close in on Rachel.
This book was compelling, fast paced, and full of fun characters. At times I couldn’t decide if Rachel was being brave or stubborn, as it became clear she was in the crosshairs of the killer but still refused to leave town. The influencers are entertaining characters desperate to take the perfect photo and gain the most followers by any means necessary. The crimes in the book are hideous, and the background well thought out and described. This book made me hope that a third starring Rachel will be on the way some day! Her character is driven by empathy for the victims, and her logical mind is great for solving a mystery.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I am a book addict, and Megan Goldin books are my drug of choice. Side effects include rapid heartbeat, sweaty palms, clammy skin, and an inability to sleep. Once you open a Megan Goldin book and start to inhale her thrilling words, they begin to intoxicate your senses, and the high lasts long after you finish the last page. These stories should come with a warning label and a reminder to stay hydrated. Gracious, she’s good, criminally good!
In her latest offering, Goldin delivers such a twisty tale that it defies a simple synopsis. We have Rachel, a true crime podcast host, Maddison, an internet influencer, and Terence Bailey, a Florida prisoner. After visiting Terence in prison, Maddison goes missing, and FBI agents summon Rachel to Florida. Why? Because it would appear that she was the subject of the conversation between the inmate and the influencer. Of course, nothing is as it seems, and the foundational twists get even twistier. Pretzels and sailor’s knots look at this plot with envy; it’s twistier than they could ever aspire to be.
Books like this one are how stories should always be told. This is a gold star/shiny trophy/blue medal-level of writing that shows other thriller writers how it’s done. If you’re looking for something to keep you up way past your bedtime, something that entertains from the first word until the last, and something that is unpredictable and exhilarating, this is your book. Grab it as quickly as humanly possible.

The second in the Rachel Krall series give us another great psychological thriller! Weaving in current cases with a few cold cases gives us a twisty story. Podcasters always find out the truth! They are the real influencers.
Thank you St. Martin’s Press, NetGalley and the author Megan Goldin.

This is the second book in the Rachel Krall series, the first one being The Night Swim which I really liked. Rachel is now a true crime podcaster who investigates and reports on current crimes and also crimes of the past on her show. I love her character because she is so smart and inquisitive about every little detail. Rachel gets a call from the FBI that they need her to come down to Florida to help with an ongoing investigation of missing Influencer.
She flies down and gets much more involved in the case than she or the FBI has planned. Rachel ends u p going undercover at the BuzzCon Convention where all the currently popular Social Inflencers are. She starts to delve into the Influencer world and learns of the crazy competitiveness and rivalry among these people. The story has lost of twists and turns and interesting characters. This is yet another fabulous book by Megan Golden and I enjoyed it just as much as the first book in the series another one I could not put down until I finished it! Highly recommended! Don't miss this one!!.

Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read Dark Corners in exchange for my honest review.
Dark Corners is a story about a true crime podcaster (Rachel Krall) who becomes involved in the mystery surrounding a missing #vanlife influencer.
This was my first read by Megan Goldin and it will certainly not be my last.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! This is book two of the Rachel krall series, and I will for sure be reading book one immediately.
I loved the short chapters in the book as well as the peek inside the influencer life.
The "buzzcon influencer conference" was such a fun addition.
My only con with this book was one scene that involved a van of snakes. As someone with a snake phobia I could have lived without that.

When I saw that Rachel Krall's story was being continued I new I was going to have to read this book and read it soon. I was not disappointed.
Megan Goldin is an incredible writer. I loved the journey and seeing how these murders get brought together and solved. There's a lot of storylines that have to come together in this particular novel, but Golden does such an amazing job of balancing each plot with the suspense and care they deserve. Nothing felt half-finished or unnecessary.
Rachel's character also doesn't step on the detectives toes or fall into that trope of "I can do it better than the police and I'm going to hide information from them." I loved how Rachel and Joe worked together throughout the entire novel.
Overall this was a really good story. It was hard to put down and the ending was incurably satisfying.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Dark Corners.
I couldn't relate with the characters and I found this book to a little dull.

I thoroughly love mysteries and have loved the idea of true crime podcasters helping to figure out what really happened to people.
We meet Rachel Krall again who has been asked by the FBI to meet with Terence Bailey, whom the FBI and police believe to be a serial killer. Another girl has gone missing and Rachel’s name came up when the girl had met Terence in jail. Because of the crime, Rachel decides to do some sleuthing on her own and with the FBI agent Martinez to figure out what really happened to Maddison and if Terence is the killer the police believe him to be.
I found it to be a bit slow sometimes, but about halfway it started to pick up. I wanted to know what happened. I should probably read the first book now.

What a ride! Goldin did a fantastic job weaving a story that kept me guessing how it would end. Each chapter revealed just enough information to make me rethink my theory. I was a little wary about the book since true crime is such a hot topic and the focus tends to fall on the villain instead of the victims but she did address that a few times via Rachel Krall, the crime podcaster and main character. It's clear a lot of research went into writing this book. Although a few parts were cheesy and predictable, it's overall a thrilling page-turner that is easy to binge.

Dark Corners features Rachel Krall, the true crime podcaster from Goldin’s book, The Night Swim. While this book follows the same character from The Night Swim, it can be read as a standalone novel.
The storytelling style was very different from the first book. The first book was more of an emotional delve into the victim experience as the mystery unfolded, whereas Dark Corners was more thriller and suspense with less character building of the victims and more focus on the active case work by both Rachel, the FBI, and their collaborated effort. Nonetheless, I greatly enjoyed the story, and I had trouble putting this book down! As an added bonus, I appreciate that I was not able to guess the ending! This is a quick, suspenseful read which I would definitely recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s press for this digital ARC copy!

I loved Stay Awake and was so excited to get her new Arc! This is the second book following Rachel Krall, although you don’t need to read the first to enjoy this book . I absolutely loved the parts with podcast scripts! There was so many twists and turns it made the book fly by. Overall a great, fast paced thriller!

True podcaster, Rachel Krall, returns in Dark Corners to search for a social media influencer who is missing. Rachel's search leads her to a prisoner who is about to released but could be guilty of murders that he was never convicted for. Dark Corners takes us into the world of social media influencers and the criminal justice system during this fast-paced thriller.
If you liked Night Swim, you will love Dark Corners. If you haven't read either, I highly recommend both! Megan Goldin is an author you should add to thriller must-read list.
Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this suspenseful read.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of Dark Corners by Megan Goldin for an honest review. Anticipated release date: August 8, 2023.
I read Night Swim in 2021 and loved it. Megan Goldin knows how to write a solid thriller. Even though this is book two that includes Rachel Krall, you could definitely read this as a stand alone.
“The scariest monster is the one that hides in plain sight.” What a great statement and so true with this book. This book had me guessing from the first page as to what is really going on. So many interesting things that I had never heard about, from the snake tattoo to a medical condition.
This book was told from multiple points of view, which was confusing at times. Parts were also either Rachel's notes or her future podcast on this crime. It did take me a bit to figure out those parts. There were so many twists and turns in this book that kept me guessing right up until the end. Also a little bit of romance for Rachel which you don't often see in mystery/thriller books.
I'm definitely hoping that Megan Goldin continues with the Rachel Krall series. I'd like to see more of her personal life as well as future crimes/podcasts.

Thank you to NetGalley and The Publisher for allowing me to read an ARC of Dark Corners.
I really enjoyed Night Swim so when I saw book 2 I was excited. I just couldn't connect with the characters and I found some of the lines to be very corny. There was still a lot of mystery and I stilled enjoyed reading this book.

This story follows Rachel Krall (who we remember from Night Swim) in the investigation of the disappearance of Maddison Logan, a social influencer who visits an inmate, Terence Bailey, prior to his release. Is her disappearance connected to Bailey? Did Bailey have someone working on the outside to help him? Or is the world of social media influencing more sinister than it appears.
This was a good mystery. That’s it. It wasn’t anything more or less than a good, standard mystery. The twists were predictable and it felt like the story was a bit too long and drawn out, but it was a quick read that will keep your attention. I was hoping for a little more though, to be honest.
I rated it a 3.5 stars.

Dark Corners by Megan Goldin was a deliciously twisty ride!! I am not often drawn to serialized mysteries, but I was genuinely thrilled to meet up with Rachel Krall again- the true crime podcaster/protagonist of Night Swim, my favorite of Goldin's previous novels. Dark Corners can definitely be read as a standalone (though if you are reading this review and you haven't yet read Night Swim- what are you waiting for?? Seriously, download it to your reader of choice, buy the paperback, or borrow it from your library!!!)
Anyway, back to Dark Corners. This time, Rachel gets involved with the disappearance of a social media influencer at the behest of the FBI. Her investigation is fascinating, particularly the scenes at BuzzCon. If there is a Rachel Krall #3 in the future, I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Highly recommend!!!

I wanted to read dark corners because I enjoyed the author's book The Night Swim. I think I enjoyed this book more. Although I did guess some twists earlier on the story was layered and I liked finding out the why behind all of the characters. Rachel was a compelling character and I like that we got to know so much more behind her podcast from the glimpses we saw in the previous book.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for sharing this brilliant digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts.

The first sentence grabbed me and never let go. Delicious read by Megan Goldin. Non-stop action. Truly a page turner. Don't miss this one.

True crime podcaster, Rachel Krall is back in Dark Corners, a twisty murder tale that will keep you guessing. When a social media influencer goes missing after visiting a suspected murderer in prison, the FBI call Rachel in because the influencer mentioned her by name. Rachel visits the same prisoner and now the FBI wants her to leave but the story is too good to pass up. Going as a lesser influencer to BuzzCon, Rachel digs up a lot of juicy gossip on the influencers that the police cannot. But the body count keeps growing and things are not adding up as Rachel is drawn in so far that danger comes a knocking. Full of suspense and little twists that you never see coming, Dark Corners flies by for a twisted thriller that will put Megan Goldin on every Mystery reader’s must read shelf.
