The combination of a thrilling plot and an unreliable narrator can create a rollercoaster of suspense and intrigue, leaving readers on the edge of their seats. When skillfully executed, this narrative style adds layers of complexity to the storytelling, making it a hallmark of the thriller genre. In such tales, the line between truth and deception becomes blurred, and the reader is taken on a suspenseful journey where the narrator's perspective is both a guide and a potential source of misdirection. The sense of uncertainty and doubt enhances the overall mystery, keeping readers guessing until the very end.
This story packed a lot of emotion and I enjoyed it despite not being my preferred type of read. I admit I did skim through quite a bit, but appreciated the story.
⭐⭐⭐ -- Great cover on this one!
This book was honestly a mixed bag for me. The first half was decent. I enjoyed the quirky characters he meet and the oddball situations he found himself in. Then we are hit in the face with a sexual assault and the book goes completely off the rails. I really felt like the aftermath of the SA was just glossed over. I don't remember a single person suggesting he file a police report. or even mentioning calling police. Not to mention, this was the US. How did he even get treated without any insurance?! Then the entire Araceli interactions were cringe x 10 and gave me whiplash. And the ending was a brief half a page that didn't offer us any closure or wrapped up any loose ends. 🤷🏻♀️
I am giving it a generous 3 stars because I enjoyed the first half, but if you are going to include SA in a book then please at least do it justice and give it the gravity it deserves. I felt like here it was just used as another thing that happened to him to fill the pages.

I was ready to put this book down during the first whiny chapter…what an ass I thought. As the book progressed, he met a lot of challenges, and a lot of self reflection…for me I tended to skim a lot of that. All in all it was ok, some of the narration was riveting, but I still didn’t really like the main character
An American Siddhartha. This was a really good story about one man's search for meaning and trying to run from his life. I really enjoyed this and more people need to read this.
This was a very interesting read. Quite different to the books I normally read. It was very well written. It had you hooked right from the beginning. It was very aptly named as it definitely did take you on quite The Journey. E with lots of twists and turns along the way.
I was hesitant to request a free copy of this book, but that turned out to be unfounded. This is quite good and at time emotional. I stated engaged and found it unpredictable. Recommended.
Thanks to the publisher for the review copy!!
Hooked from the first page - I just loved this exceptional story that grabbed you and took you along for the ride. You journey along with Raiden as he searches for meaning, happiness and love. As different challenges keep confronting him, it leads to a very rewarding finale. Highly recommended five star read.
Mesmerising - impossible to put down - read in one sitting. Mark T. Rasmussen has written a sensational story about a 44-year-old man's journey as he searches for meaning in his life, happiness and love after abandoning his pregnant partner. Highly recommended read and the novel is well worthy of five stars.
