I gave this book a good try because the premise excited me, but ultimately it isn't for me. It didn't get off to a strong start, between that nasty email and then Dom-the-gross-friend and went downhill from there. I think the author was trying for funny, but the humour fell flat for me. The characters are in their thirties but felt so immature and I didn't like the way they talk to or about each other (and other people). A lot of the writing also left me questioning whether this author hates women or if that's just the way she's writing. What I did manage to read left a bad taste in my mouth, and I decided that it was better to stop reading than force it.

I'm not sure what's happening will all these books set in the world of publishing, but I am here for it! I especially appreciated the strong supporting cast and interesting (far-flung) Brooklyn setting in this entertaining romance.

This book was so much fun to read, I have laughed my way through books but this one was different!!!! Gracie is a struggling writer, and since things are not working out too well for her, she decided to sit back and dwell on her high school crush/ enemy. She sends him a drunk email and the rest is history. Colin has his own issues, but when they come together it was so effortless, I love a romance novel that’s smooth when it comes to them being together. Anyway, he wants to help her with her new book, since she scored an amazing deal, but here we get to know Colin, and his DRAMA. There is still a level of immaturity in this book which I found so annoying, but the humor added in this book made up for the spots that lacked. Thank you netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

Unfortunately this one is a dnf for me. I tried my best to stick to it, but it's just not working for me. I find the voice of the FMC to be juvenile.
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Gracie is all over the place in this story. She drank way too much and then did questionable things while inebriated.
She didn’t drunk dial, but drunk emailed her crush from high school and that begins a whirlwind communication frenzy which does break her writing impasse.
It’s a decent story, but two things to learn: don’t over imbibe and write what you know.

Holy moly what a debut novel!! This was such a fun, cute, and sexy book that left me wanting so much more! I loved how fast paced the storyline was and just kept me engaged throughout the entire time and I felt like it just helped so much with the storyline. There were so many parts in this book where I was giggling out loud and I ended up finishing it within 24 hours because I just didn’t want to put it down.
I will say that where were some parts in the beginning of the book that felt a little cringey (ex. The FMC ended up “sharting herself” pretty early on). While I can appreciate that this might have been an attempt at getting the readers to relate to the characters, it just kind of left me confused as to why this needed to be part of the storyline. However, that being said, I also really loved both MC and I loved how the Micciche did the chapters from both their POV because I felt like it just helped the storyline and helped the reader get to really understand the characters. I felt like after the first little bit, you did get to know the characters a lot more and became more invested. Overall, would definitely recommend if you are looking for something light and engaging! I cannot wait to see what else Micciche has up her sleeves!

I really enjoyed reading The Book Proposal. Yes, it’s quirky, corny and just a bit over the top….but, it was a perfect read for me. I need this type of story in my life every now and then. I literally read on and on and on because I just couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. The plot is hysterical and so so funny!
Don’t pay attention to the low reviews on this book. I loved it! I have already recommended it to my family and friends.
Thank you K.J. Micciche for totally engaging and fun read! I want to read more of your books!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘢𝘭 follows down on her luck Gracie Landing, who's been betrayed by her fiance and when she drunkenly sends an email to her high school crush Collin Yarmouth everything falls apart in the best and worst ways possible.

This was a touch too much.
I liked the emails between Gracie and Collins and the moments whenever they were happy together but that is it.
The dramatism of the ex drama just wasn't executed well in my opinion. Like I get how it could play a better and maybe more sophisticated role in the plot but again too dramatic here.
Also, Collin doing what he did for Gracie, even if it came from a good place was just dimmed by his subconscious need for revenge.
But I did enjoy the interactions between the couple so two stars for them and an extra for Dorian Gray, the cat.

Ok, so I really tried to like book. Unfortunately it just didn't hit the mark for me. I wish we'd had less internal dialogue and more things actually happening. I kept losing interest and putting this down because it really failed to grab my attention.

I just reviewed another romance novel where I said it wasn't a negative experience reading it, just a neutral one, but this one I'm on the fence. I honestly really hated most of the characters, and the second someone mentioned a literary agent, I went back to check Lindsay's last name. Colin was constantly talking about how funny Grace was, but I actually found her really unfunny and not super pleasant to read about. This was far from the worst book I've ever read or anything, but I didn't enjoy reading it and multiple people told me to stop when I complained (as if I'd DNF).

I enjoyed reading a book about a romance author, such a fun idea for the plot. Overall, the book felt a little immature in some spots and it didn’t really connect with me. It was still a fast, easy read and I’m sure most will find it enjoyable.

I really wanted to enjoy The Book Proposal. The theme seemed perfectly light and fluffy with a good balance of drama and humor. I also liked that the characters were in their 30s just like me. I can just imagine and at times relate to the scenarios that play out in this book. However that just wasn't enough for me. The writing fell a bit flat and the main female character seemed terribly immature. I am rather disappointed. I've seen a lot of books lately come through that sadly the 30 something female is written in a way that her life is an utter disaster and spiraling out of control. And in that way I cannot relate. It seems that though the characters are not in the "young adult" years the book feels very YA to me. Aside from the characters current disaster of a life she reflects a lot on her highschool years which doesn't help the YA feeling the book projects. I myself am not a YA fan so this book was a no go for me. Hopefully others will enjoy it.

While I enjoyed some of the funny moments and appreciated the banter between the two main characters, like the emails in the beginning and even throughout the book, at times I found them immature, especially for both being in their thirties.
There was also lack of communication which I wasn’t a fan of because it seemed unnecessary leading to the third act breakup and when we knew Colin was trying to make things right.
I did enjoy the ending however because I liked the idea of the book Grace was writing was about her life in a way, and I kind of wished it was a bit longer or an epilogue to see how the book turned out and they’re future as well.
Thank you NetGalley for the e-ARC.

This one reads really quickly and was a fun read that made me laugh a couple of times throughout!
I loved the insert of the emails between Connor and Gracie as it really made the book read so quickly and loved their back and forth.
If you want to see how their love unfolds via email while Gracie is trying to get her book written I highly recommend checking this one out!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐
SPICE: 🔥
I am about as immature as they come, and I have a tendency to surround myself with equally juvenile people. But a high volume of fart and STD jokes in a romance read is not just my jam.
And I wanted to love the book for its premise.
After a night filled with alcohol, Gracie Landing decides to email her high school crush Colin Yarmouth a love letter. At least, she could write that after the romance writer struggles with horrible writer's block and even messier love life. When Colin responds, their exchanges become the foundation of Gracie's new work. The big problem here is that Colin is not quite aware that he and his equally tumultuous love life are the inspiration for Grace's potential new release.
The emails between Gracie and Colin were charming. I really enjoyed the flirting, and the vulnerability and charisma oozing from the correspondence made them relatable.
Unfortunately, that's where it kinda ended. While I can appreciate a good off-color joke, the portrayed immaturity just took a lot from the story. The saving grace -- pun intended -- here was that this had a fast pace with little angst to help me get through it quickly.
I am bummed that I am 0/2 on romance reads about romance stories. I really wanted to love this standalone read, but unfortunately, it is only alright.
** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to K.J. Micciche, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Netgalley for providing an ARC. **

I am stunned at how bad this book was. I really loved the premise of the blurb but I feel I was catfished. I kept thinking the book will get better and better but after multiple fart jokes, a sharting instance and a graphic depiction of the MFC cutting herself while shaving her privates I was like nope I have had enough. The humour is childish and not what I expected of an adult romance novel. The romance (if you can call it that) is so fast paced and they fall in love in a couple of days over email? Like its not believable like I loved you got mail but at least that felt like a period of time they fell in love in, this book is like they are old high school lovers picking up from where they left off expect they never were together in high school and the MMC barely knew the MFC existed. Also how the book the MFC is writing in the book worse than this book I don't know but it's so bad. I just had to give up at 40% because I could not take another joke involving the rear end or bowel movements.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for providing the ARC.
This book was a hard read for me, for a couple of reasons.
I had a hard time liking the characters. Gracie seemed incredibly neurotic and high strung. Colin seemed vey much like a doormat with a bit of a vindictive streak. Gracie was very much relying on a vision she had of teenage Colin, for whom she carried a torch for years, to the point of writing him very descriptive and graphic love notes in high school. Not gonna lie, but I would feel incredibly weird if I was getting pages of handwritten text from someone anonymously describing all the ways in which we would have sex. It wouldn’t be flattering - it would be unsettling.
I thought the plot was a bit contrived. I felt like Gracie, while initially could be justified in being angry, held onto that anger for way too long. They had barely been going out for two weeks when she went absolutely apeshit on Colin and then basically ghosted him for a month. And I'm supposed feel bad for her that she's single again? I really don't.
Most importantly, the author's writing style was very disjointed and messy. There were long drawn out descriptions of things that didn't need to be described. Lengthy flashbacks that weren't cohesive with the rest of the story, to the point where I could skip over them and not have it detract anything from the story. There were a lot of references to bodily functions and it seemed like nothing was off limits.
I'm sure someone will find this book charming, but it's not me.

This is an average read. I thought it was really weird that the main character randomly talked about farting and sharting in their pants, it would make sense if there was a medical reason that was resolved (or at least treated) during the book but it was random. I liked the idea that she was the author and needed help from her old high school crush, but I thought they were going to write the book together not him giving her ideas. And the main problem with the relationship is a huge miscommunication/lack of communication which just made things not as fun. This was disappointing because I liked the cover.

This was fun with some real drama added in. The flow of the writing is a little off and a tad cringe-y a couple times (the shaving the lady bits part and all the details about Colin's ex). But, I really liked Gracie and Colin. These two have serious baggage but bad things happen to good people all the time. The idea for this book is a good one--Who hasn't thought about a chance with your actual high school crush? Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC
