One interesting book to share with children, on identifying animals! Butt or Face is an innocent but tricky question. But it leads me to so many new animals I never knew existed. The author even gave us a map at the end of the book, to locate where these animals can be found.

Who doesn’t love a good game of butt or face? This one is no exception, and it’s completely absurd and a real delight. It is up to the reader to determine whether it’s a butt or a face and then the books job to inform you whether you’re right and you might learn a few extra facts along the way. My coworkers and I got a real kick out of this one, and I know my kids will too.

Funny thing to know that there are Butt faced creatures in this world, and it is not just remained a slang to tease friends anymore, for facts. LOL. There is lot more info which is rarely documented at one place. However, pictures were quite yuck kind but still factual.

The premise of this is absolutely hilarious - my kids had a fun time guessing “butt or face” for each image. Despite the silliness, there was some very cool factoids shared about each animal that allowed for some learning about animal bodies, adaptations, and interactions.

I was a *little* worried this would be toilet humor, but it's a fantastic book for little kids to learn about how some animals have butts that look like faces, and vice versa. There's lots of great trivia and even a map of where they are all located.

What a fun book to read with young children. I can even think of some adults who will get a kick out of this. As I read this, I was frequently working on the wrong end of the answer. This book will grab and hold the attention of all who read it. We can all learn the most unusual facts about the natural world. Is there a child out there who won't be dumbfounded by getting to use the word "butt" and not get in trouble for it?

Now, go read the book and keep score! You will be amazed at how many times you are wrong.

Cute and quirky - felt like a mix of a national geographic book (informative, real photos, etc.) and a playful, kid-friendly book. A bit hard to read on an e-reader, but sweet overall.

Do you like to laugh? Do your kids think the word "butt" is hilarious? Then you need to check out this book! Not only is it full of images that fooled even me (a grown adult), but every page is full of animal fun facts (that are called "Beyond the Backside" - I mean, come on! How cute is that?!)!

Oh my goodness, if you know a 4-6 year old and they have a birthday coming up, do yourself a favor and buy this for them! Any holiday! Just for fun! This one is an absolute must. My four year old will not stop asking to read it together. I expected that the novelty would wear off and as he started to remember what was what (butt or face) but he still loooooves reading it and learning more about the animals. It is just the right balance of fun and silly with engaging and informative. I will be purchasing this for all upcoming birthdays, holidays, and for his pre-k classroom. It's a must read and must buy!

I shouldn't have been as happy as I was to get so much right here (I'll admit to two and a half mistakes, and you'll have to get to the end here to find out why), but I was. This simple concept – with a most interesting source inspiration – asks us to name the body part we're seeing in close-up. Factoids pepper the page of the answer, and we learn about animal disguises, odd ways animals utilise different parts of their anatomy and more. OK, it's a book that is perhaps quite easy to put behind you (pun intended), but let's face it (ditto) it's fun while it lasts.

My kids thought this was funny! It is a great one to read over and over as they are more ready to take in fun facts and information.

Is it a butt or a face (insert uncontrollable giggles)? Through a series of 13 close-up photos, readers are asked to determine if each picture displays a butt or a face. And they will be surprised by some of the answers. In addition to correctly identifying which body part is shown, readers are given each creature’s name and some facts about it. Though the creatures may be unfamiliar (Cuyaba dwarf frog), each likely is related to a more common animal. The end of the book includes an author’s note, about the author, and map with accompanying table describing where each critter rests their butts and what goes in their faces. Useful for a science lesson, an introduction to animal research, or a hilarious read aloud, young learners will have fun guessing butt or face while the reader has a hard time keeping a straight face. Put this one in a featured display, but be prepared to replace it often.

THOUGHTS: If the title doesn’t catch the attention of young readers, the cover is sure to do the trick. Highly recommended for elementary collections.

I loved this so much. It was so cute, my kids would have loved this. It definitely would have been a repeated bedtime book. This had unique animals and a very silly game.
