In this friends-to-lovers tale with a paranormal twist, the author takes readers on a fun ride through friendship, love, and the supernatural. While I had a good time reading it, there were moments when I felt like the story dragged a bit.
But what really got me hooked was the ghostly element! It brought such a cool and different vibe to the whole plot, making the story way more interesting. Seeing how the ghosts influenced the characters and shook things up added an extra layer of excitement to the mix.
Even though the pacing wasn't always perfect, I found myself totally wrapped up in the world the author created. The ghostly encounters kept things exciting and made the story stand out from your typical romance. Overall, it was a fun and entertaining read that I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking for something a little different!
I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
I read almost 40% of this book: there were a few interesting bits about the mansion Ren was supposed to be helping Leo renovate and an object found under the floorboards promises a mystery, but the vast majority of every page was all about why they couldn't have a relationship beyond friendship, even though they'd had 2 scorching kisses by this point. There wasn't enough story for me, just boring repetition. I didn't read beyond this point.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. This is not my first book by this author and I always love how her characters interact with each other. Ren and Leo are so adorable and witty. They are opposites and I love that. That opening chapter at the Haunted attraction was so funny. The two of them have been friends for a couple of years now and he wants her to help with a project and the biggest catch is that they have to live together. I enjoyed it so much. I want to go on and on but it has to be read to be enjoyed.
Leo love Ren but hasn’t found a way to move out of the friend zone with her. Now and Always took what felt like a long time to get to the desired end of every romance, boy and girl together.
Truthfully, I fell out of patience with how long it took for Karen to stop existing in past paradigms.
The elements are all there for a great book. Paranormal elements, a creepy historic home, a construction competition that allows the hero to get close to the heroine.
It’s a good read, it just could have been about 75 pages shorter and still got to the desired end.
Leo is the stuff dreams are made of, so if you’re looking for a new book boyfriend he may fit the bill.
First reading the synopsis about Grumpy character, oohh boy i was fast clicking request button. Dedication for winchesters boys i am your tribe!!
Karen aka Ren has friend zone Leo, Leo who already fall for her accept it and willing become "Just friend". When Ren need Leo help experience in construction job, he agree to help with one condition stay with him. Of course their situation improve drasticly.
I loveee how Leo instinct to protect Ren first even when he scare of scary thing, he not forget Ren or leaving her behind. I understand why Ren dosnt want to ruin their friendship, beside that Leo have plans friends first, lovers later, soul mates forever. The mansion mystery was good, i curious about the cat lol. One scene made me tear up when Edwin meet Elizabeth again...
This is my first book with this author, i love her writing style, the plot was easy and smooth i enjoy it.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

I finished this book not quite sure how I felt about it, and that hasn't really changed a couple of days later. I like the premise of the story as described in the blurb - a haunted mansion and a best friend wanting more (and I liked the twist that it was the male in a male/female duo), But I just never fully connected with the main characters. I found Ren a bit annoying and overly stubborn, and the idea that she would bypass Leo after the friendship they have developed didn't seem real to me. I liked Leo but didn't love the amount of manipulation that he did to get Ren to change her tune. The ghost story also fell a little flat for me. I never felt any real sense of suspense or danger. I believe I read that this is this author's debut book, which likely explains some of my thoughts. I would definitely be open to reading more from this author to see how they develop.
3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.
