The time loop aspect of the plot rally interested me in reading this romance novel. At some points the characters felt a little flat, and for a book with a time loop plot some things still felt a little unrealistic. Despite that it was still a good read. Overall, I enjoyed it as a cute, quick and easy romance novel to read.

I enjoyed this new take on a Groundhog Day story, with the main character being on the outside of the loop to begin with, rather than having her have to convince the romantic lead. As it's a romance one expects going into this story that the premise is delivering on the idea that these two people are meant to be together- which means you know that something else has to be the conflict at the heart of the story. And in this case, both of the romantic leads have things about their lives and the choices they make that they have to reckon with in order to be the best, most content versions of themselves. This is the kind of content in a romance book that I enjoy, because it reflects that reality of being a solid person before you can be in a solid relationship. It's also plenty charming and the chemistry between the leads is great. Best of all, there's a villain who gets his comeuppance and a romantic gesture to end all romantic gestures.

I love a time loop story! This was super cute. Cute fun easy Rom Com with a few surprise twists. I have to admit I’m not a big insta love fan but this author did a great job making it believable. Jack is an insta book fave.

Who doesn’t love a time loop?! This sweet love story hit all the right notes; lost and found family, unsavory exes, and a best friend that believes in you no matter what.

4.25⭐️

Gemma and Jack have realized they are in a time loop in which they meet every day. Jack remembers the encounters, but Gemma does not. He realizes that he has to get Gemma to fall in love with him in 24 hours or the day restarts itself.

In a weird way, this story was definitely a second chance romance, sorta. Jack goes all out to try to get Gemma to fall in love with him. He jumps through hoops to try to get Gemma's attention, and when he finally succeeds, it made me literally clap with joy.

Jack was a super sweet character - everything you would want in a significant other. Gemma was more reserved but super loyal, driven, and outspoken. She also had a lot of things to work out with her dad. Those parts were really hardhitting and made me want to hug both Gemma and her dad. The other side characters, Lila and Patrick, were super supportive as well. Even if the situation that Gemma and Jack were in wasn't exactly a normal relationship.

Overall, this story is so much more than a romance. This story makes the characters take a deep dive into themselves and work out issues that they have with their own lives. Gemma and Jack help each other through those things as well, which was heartwarming and sweet.

This story is low angst and only features kissing scenes, so if you're looking for a romance like that, I think you'd really like this book! It's the perfect summer romance!

This was a delightful twist on Groundhog Day where two people are stuck in a loop of time, doomed to repeat the day over and over. One twist though is that only one of them realizes this is happening, while the other lives the day brand new each time. The characters are lovely and I quite enjoyed the story as they tried to change the day to break whatever was holding them in the loop. I do feel there was a bit too much unneeded story toward the end, when a conclusion could have been much sooner than occurred, but otherwise, it was a nice escapist read.

I really enjoyed this novel by Holly James about an adorable couple stuck in a time loop. Sometimes these novels can get a bit repetitive but Holly James does a wonderful job of keeping it fresh and putting a great new spin on a GroundHogs Day narrative. I loved the main characters., Gemma and Jack, and found myself rooting from them from the start of the book. Also wonderful supporting characters! Am I the only one that sees a fun movie coming out of this book?

I was definitely more interested in the time loop aspect of this book than the actual romance. I admit, I'm probably in the minority here, but I wanted to know more about what caused this to happen and how it was happening. The story is told by someone not in the time loop and just has to believe the guy who says he is in a time loop. I know it's a romance, but she is waaay too trusting in my opinion. If some random guy told me he was stuck in a time loop and I was key to stopping it, I'd say cool story bro and call the cops. I'd need the facts, the results of the scientific studies you've been doing for the past 100+ days, etc. At that point, you'd have my attention, but I'm not falling asleep in your arms because seriously, I just met you a few hours ago.

This romance turns the typical time loop narrative on its side, in that it is presented primarily from the POV of someone who is unaware the loop is happening. Imagine if Groundhog Day had followed Andie McDowell's character rather than Bill Murray's--that's what this is like.

Only, as it turns out, it's not just the guy (Jack) who has lived through 146 versions of the same day that needs to make some life changes. It's the woman (Gemma) he's fallen in love with over those five months that also needs to zig where she's been zagging. The book opens with Gemma and Jack meeting in a bar during Gemma's best friend Lila's birthday celebration. After a great conversation, Jack and Gemma kiss, and Jack implores her to remember him. Cut to the next morning, when Gemma wakes up on Lila's birthday, with no memory that she lived that experience already. She starts to experience deja vu, and when she runs into a handsome man in a coffee shop and he tells her that, yes, they have met before and that he knows her well, she has to set aside her skepticism and take a leap of faith so that she and Jack can set break the time loop.

We followed Gemma over the course of the day as she and Jack continue to come together and get thrown apart by circumstances and mistrust--all the while, with Gemma's feelings for him growing. Gemma meanwhile begins to make changes in her life that deviate from all the copycat days before that just maybe will set her on a better path in life.

It's a perfect sweet novel that would have benefited more from Jack's perspective, which we don't really experience until the end. It's not always clear why Gemma thinks she's falling in love with him, given that to her, it's been mere hours since she first met him. And we miss all the past moments in which he developed feelings for her, so we get more telling than showing that this is more than just insta-love. (Although there are a lot of love-at-first-sight, "the earth tilted" type of descriptors used to depict their first encounter.)

All in all, this works best if you think of this as a young woman getting her shit together (which involves a bit of romance) rather than a romance novel.

I think I liked Time Loop tropes? This was surprisingly really great. Time loop tropes can sometime be a hit or miss for me. And this book definitely reminded me of the hits they can be. I am glad this book doesn't take the course over multiple days like other books. I felt this had the exact formula without being as repetitive as other time loop tropes. Definitely saving this one as a fave.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy.

The Deja Glitch is a very fresh take on a time loop story. There isn’t even a hint of Groundhog Day in this book, which made it refreshing and fun. I liked the characters of Gemma and Jack and the ways in which their lives wove together over the course of the day. At times the book was a little too cute and coincidental. It would have been a solid 4 stars for me if it had been about 25% shorter. The ending, once it was obvious where the story was headed, dragged on too long.

I love a good time loop story and the Deja Glitch is no exception!

Time loops are one of my absolute favorite romance genres and rooting for Gemma and Jack to get it together was so much fun!

There is so much resolution in this book too, family drama and life lessons and of course an amazing best friend and psychic! Super fun read!

Here’s the thing, I love a good time loop. It’s hard to tell a good time loop story without being repetitive (pun intended). I loved the perspective Holly James used though. It was different and more character-driven.

This novel is like if “Palm Springs” and “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” had a baby. I loved it!!

This is a story about two people navigating a day inside a time loop with good music playing in background. Of course they fall in love. It’s a romcom! But this is about the journey, not the destination. And the journey was fantastic!

The pacing dragged a bit around the 40% mark though. I think the whole scientific explanation could be modified a bit to make it simpler and more concise.

Also, the third person limited point of view made some dialogue a bit clunky. It wasn’t enough to make it a bad book but it was enough to annoy me.

Overall it had a lot of things I really liked:
Sci-fi
Romance
Cool side characters
Music
Traffic actually existing and affecting the plot in a realistic way.
Realistic grand gestures made by unrealistic characters

This is not a smutty book so understand that going in.

Super charming, cozy, and overall fantastic! The vibes were definitely there. Very much recommend!

Thanks to NetGallery and the publisher for providing this ARC!

After reading the summary for Holly James' "The Deja Glitch" I assumed the story would be chapter after chapter of the same day happening over and over again. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! James' has managed to take a premise that seemed formulaic and infuse it with heart and excitement. She was able to beautifully demonstrate character growth, love, and hope into one day. The relationship between Gemma and Jack reads more authentically than many "traditional" love stories that I have read. The side story lines of Gemma's familial relationships and her career added additional feeling and depth to the story. "The Deja Glitch" is absolutely delightful, we cannot wait to bring into our store for the end of summer.

Such a unique time loop story! Jack is living the same day over and over and can't escape no matter what he tries. What's unique is that the story is told from the point of view of Gemma. Jack thinks he may have figured out how to stop the time loop and for the first time Gemma is having feelings of deja vu. Jack tells Gemma about the time loop when they literally run into each other at the coffee shop. I like how she immediately doesn't believe him. As the day goes on, she flips between thinking he's crazy to maybe believing him.

I really enjoy the time loop trope, so this was a fun read. It reminded me of the movie Meet Cute. The author did a good job of making the story their own, though. Very charming!

Ooo I live for a good time loop.
This was adorable.
A fun, quick read with cute characters.
Gemma is having a normal not great day, avoiding conflict with her family, nervous about a potential interview with her childhood hero/crush when she quite literally runs into Jack at a coffee shop- she feels weirdly connected to him. They chat and he is stuck in a time loop and thinks she’s the key. Is she? Maybe let’s just see how the day unfolds. 😂
Cute. Fun. Made me want to rewatch Palm Springs.

Thanks to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for an eARC.

Jack has lived the same day, over and over, for the last 146 days. But for Gemma, it’s just a normal Thursday. When a handsome stranger spills coffee on her, Gemma can’t shake the sense that she’s met him before. Their meeting, which was not by chance, sets in motion a series of events that spark Gemma and Jack to examine their own happiness and what they want from life. But how do they break the time loop? Jack has come up with a theory to bring his own personal Groundhog Day to an end—before the day is over, he has to get Gemma to fall in love with him.

Thank you so much @netgalley, @duttonbokks, and @hellohollyjames for the advance copy! This was such a unique story and I really enjoyed it! It was kind of like 50 First Dates meets Groundhog Day. Gemma and Jack were really cute characters and I really liked how they were able to bring out the best in each other. I also really enjoyed Gemma’s relationship with her family and how she was able to overcome some of her insecurities and go for what she really wanted. The story is a little predictable, as you would expect with a time loop plot line, but that didn’t detract at all from how much I enjoyed it and it didn’t feel repetitive at all. Cute story, cute main characters, cute supporting characters, cute everything! The Déjà Glitch comes out August 1!
