There was a certain topic in this book that hit home for me. I would not get much into it. But yeah, that made me extra emotionally involved with this book. I rarely pick up anything with a time loop or time travel. However, the synopsis seemed interesting enough for me to get this book. I liked the writing style and world-building. The plot was engaging. Characters needed a bit of work. Nothing major. I really enjoyed this book.
"It felt like a line, and despite herself, she fell for it."
I fell hard for this sweet little RomCom and all its outrageousness. The time loop trope might not be for everyone, but I'm reading fiction as escape from real life, so I don't mind a little magic/science/get the girl to fall in love with the boy in 24 hours...
Gemma and Jack are the most lovable characters. Gemma is so relatable with her family hurt, workplace ambition, struggle with confidence, and deep care for her best friend, brother and dog Rex. Then comes Jack with his unwavering support and love for Gemma and I was instantly rooting for them.
"It's you, Gemma. You are the center of everything." I highly recommend this story from Holly James. It had me swooning and slightly wishing for a time loop in my own life that shifts my universe to revolve around my own happy ending...

This book was so promising at the beginning! It was super fast-paced, the characters were interesting, the time loop thing was working.....
Until it wasn't.
This book lost me at the entire chapter dedicated to the science of time loops. It was extremely boring. I did not understand it. You should know your audience with a romance novel is not a bunch of physics fanatics.
I did enjoy MC Gemma though. I thought she was interesting and well-written. Lila was also a favorite character of mine. However, I have no interest in knowing the rest of their story because the whole time loop thing got way too confusing.
How does Gemma not realize she's in a time loop but Jack does? Honestly, it was probably explained in the time loop explanation sciencey chapter that I skimmed because it was so boring. If that part was written differently and it wasn't just an old guy explaining time loops, maybe it would have held my interest.
I really wanted to like this book, and I'm disappointed that I didn't.
Gemma needs to fall in love in one day. Jack has been reliving the same day over and over and Gemma doesn't remember him. Gemma doesn't believe that Jack is telling her the truth so they go through a lot to figure out how to get time back on track. Gemma faces her fears and gains so much from doing so. This book was very well written and I enjoyed reading it. I finished it in a single sitting and highly recommend! It was a very cute story and I am glad to have gotten the chance to receive an early copy of it!
I thought that this book had a lot of potential. Gemma the main character had some great development. It felt like there needed to be more to the time loop between Gemma and Jack. There was so much missing from Jacks side that I wanted more from it. I really enjoyed Gemma smoothing her relationship with her dad though
Mmm okay. This was a miss for me. There's wasn't enough build up of love because we're only seeing one (kinda two) "days" with them both. We see it not from the perspective of Jack, who has relived the day over 100 times, but from Gemma who is just starting to understand, and has only lived it once (kinda twice).
I'm normally a sucker for these groundhog day stories, but this left me wanting.
Who doesn’t love a good time loop love story? Jack is stuck in his own “Groundhog Day” unless he can somehow make Gemma fall in love with him before she forgets him at midnight. But what must Jack do when Gemma is heartbroken and not looking for love even when it’s slapping her in the face?
While this is a time loop book, James chooses to write from only two days out of 147 days in the loop. On the one hand, this is great because there isn’t a sense of constantly starting over with each new day as a reader. On the other hand, it leaves Jack’s character with the heavy lifting of having to describe what has happened for the past 5 months on this never ending day between him and Gemma. It felt to me like some character development and relationship development was lost with this approach. Overall, I really enjoyed reading the Deja Glitch and can’t wait to read more rom coms from Holly James!
If you enjoyed the movie “Palm Springs,” you’ll have a fun time reading the Deja Glitch!

COMMENTS/NOTES: Liked the quest Jack and Gemma(reluctantly) go on to find out how to break the time curse they're stuck in. Also, loved how much Gemma loved, cared for, and worried about her brother Patrick.
This was adorable! I love a good time loop story, and the romance in this one was so heart-warming! The family dynamics made this story raw and real, and I loved watching Gemma’s character growth as she learned more about herself.
This book was such a fun, cute read! The author did such an amazing job with referencing a lot of awesome places in Los Angeles, it made me smile knowing exactly the spots she was talking about. For people who live in LA or have visited, I think it'll be such a fun little easter egg to hear about the places.
I think the author did such a great job at character development too and I loved how much the main character grew!!
All in all, it was such a good read. I only wish that it was dual POVs, but other than that, I'd recommend this!
I did not have high hopes for this one. The time loop plot can go bad fast, but Holly James jumps right into the story without boring you with the repeated day's scenario. I like that she doesn't bog you down with confusing scientific explanations of why the time loop is happening. To me, this is where time loop stories can derail, and if your science doesn't flow with your story, it can be a dud. The amount of "temporal anomaly" explaining is just right for this fun rom-com. And even though there is a professor who makes an entrance to share his theories on what's going on, to me, he is a sweet uncle type that fits right in.
I loved Jack and Gemma together, but by chapter 9, I was getting a bit tired of Jack. He was too sugary sweet and too good to be true. But then things turned a corner, and I could see why Gemma was right for him just as much as she was good for him. The only thing I found myself getting hung up on was her brother. I felt that maybe she should have let him call it a day and try again after a good night's sleep—also, more Rex. I feel like he needs more page time.
Deja Glitch is so much fun. I can't wait until the release date.
Thank you, NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Dutton for allowing me to read this for an honest review.
I really loved this book! I have always loved movies that included time loops but had never read a book including one and this certainly didn't disappoint. Such a cute romance and a book I definitely see myself picking up again in the future.
Jack and Gemma truly have great chemistry and you can feel that chemistry almost immediately in the book. You could tell how much he cared about her and how much he wanted her to remember him. I thought even though this book was set over the course of a day it was paced very well and the story flowed great.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Penguin Group Dutton for allowing me to review this advanced copy. I cannot wait to purchase a physical copy when it comes out later this year!
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for an advance eARC copy of Deja Glitch.
What an amazing love story! Holly James writes an adorable time loop love story that goes with the flow and although some parts are rambling, it comes out on top. I think the only thing that I would have wanted was extra time loop instead of it happening once.
I loved this book! It's such a cute Groundhog Day story full of falling in love, good friends, career risks, family redemption, and facing one's fears. I definitely recommend this one.
The Deja Glitch is the new must read romcom. I really enjoyed the plot and characters. Even though the story is really simple and it is a typical romcom it is still refreshing to read. I liked Gemma's character and her background and how she ultimately resolves all the issues in her life. If I had to pick one thing I didn't particularly like from the book it would be Gemma's best friend Lila. I feel as though I've seen the same character a million times before. She seems like the typical party girl that is friends with the quite girl who likes to go bed early. I feel like there could have been more substance to her character. Overall it is a solid 4 star read.
Cute quick read. Will definitely read books by this author again!
I'm generally not a fan of groundhog day type books, but this was refreshing.
Ahh the famous time loop trope. This was interestingly executed and did not disappoint. Loved reading the loops and it was always fun and kept me on my toes.
I can’t express everything this book made me feel into one review, but I’ll try my best. I loved it so much! Maybe I’m partially biased because I love time loop movies/shows and the description of this book sold me completely. I enjoyed the story so much and I was so thankful for having two explanations to the time loop a psychic one and a physics one. No matter how impossible it sounds, it’s truly amazing when authors still try to find a way to explain specific events. I applaud Holly for finding a way to still make it extremely believable. I loved Gemma and Lila’s friendship so much!! I feel like we all deserve a Lila in our lives. I do want to say however, that I found the stranger dad storyline a bit cliché. Having lived similar experiences in my life I’m tired of everyone trying to have me reconcile with people I don’t wish to. In this case, Gemma wanted it even if it was just a little, which is fine, but I wanted it to still be okay if she didn’t reconcile with him. Everyone expects us to forgive and forget, but it’s totally okay if you’re never prepared to forgive someone, you don’t have to. This book kind of gave me the impression that you must always try to reconcile with someone which I did not enjoy. Besides from that, I enjoyed it so much! And Jack, oh my goodness Jack. I am completely in love with him, and hey I didn’t have to spend 147 days with him to do so! The relationship felt so genuine and I really can’t wait to have this book in my hands! But now I want a book about Lila and Tyrell!
“You are the center of everything. My whole universe has shifted to revolve around you. I’m literally stuck on you and only you. I need you. For more than one reason.”
What a lovely read! I honestly love time loops, so I don’t generally mind the predictable nature these stories bring. That said, this was a refreshing take on the time loop structure - we only see one loop throughout the whole book.
Unlike other time loop main characters, Gemma doesn’t remember repeating the same day over and over until she bumps into Jack and has a strong sense of deja vu. This is pleasant upheaval of the time loop story - we experience only one version of this day alongside Gemma. She doesn’t go through the existential dread that comes along with repeating the same bad day over and over and making the same mistakes. She accepts her fate and as the day goes on, learns that changing her perspective changes the time loop for the better.
I do wish we spent more time learning about Jack’s experience in the time loop, it felt like something about his story was missing. Plus, if I was told I was the key to getting out of a time loop by a handsome stranger, I would want to know every detail.
This was a thoroughly sweet read. It was very low in angst which I always appreciate in a book, and I was really rooting for Gemma and Jack to make it out of the loop with all their memories in tact.

Thank you to NetGalley & Dutton Books for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!
This Deja Glitch is what rom com dreams are made of 💫 I absolutely loved this book and I’m excited for more people to read it in the upcoming months. This time-loop romance follows Gemma and Jack over a whirlwind of one day! I really appreciated Black’s take on this time loop, it wasn’t repetitive or over-done at all- think Groundhog Dog x 50 First Dates perfection 💜 The banter between the characters was cute, I loved the complexity and relationships between the supporting characters too. It was perfectly cheesy, but still unique and entertaining 🔮💫
