This book is exactly what it says it is: easy, low-sodium recipes. The dishes are simple and sound tasty without added sodium, which most of us could cut back on. I recommend this for anyone looking to reduce their sodium intake yet still eat tasty foods.
High blood pressure runs in the family so I try to cook as much low sodium as possible. This cookbook has lots of great recipes that cut the sodium but not the flavor.
A life saving help for me and my family as we learn to eat healthier and differently for my father who is battling heart failure. Easy to follow.
An informative cookbook with tons of unique low sodium recipes. Definitely recommend if you're looking to embark on a lower sodium diet.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* better than most low sodium cookbooks i have read, really loved the spices and sauces!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange of an honest review.
This book was truly magical. Being in a healthcare you know that sodium in excessive amount can be very harmful. It has some really interesting and mouth watering recipes.
Definitely gonna try these recipes!
A great title for those struggling to reduce sodium. I have many patrons who have enjoyed this title.
The feedback I have received is that is indeed easy and not lacking in flavor and they are grateful to continue enjoying foods they love.
I was allowed to read this book via NetGalley. I found the book interesting and filled with good information. I found it to be a very basic cookbook that would be good for those who do not cook often. There are a lot of quick steps that can help with meal prep, such as using low-sodium ketchup or low-sodium cream of mushroom soup. I only gave this 4 stars because I was hoping to have other options for those who are used to cooking. Such as how to make stock instead of purchasing premade stock, or how to create your own spice blend. It is a good cookbook for those just beginning on the low sodium journey.
This cookbook is certainly simple. Although I feel like they could have hired a graphic designer to make it more appealing to the eyes, I did appreciate the content. The recipes were simple and easy to follow. It needed way more pictures but it was a decent book.
Another great recipe book, full of great ideas, without feeling like you're missing out or making life more complicated.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Low Sodium Cooking Made Easy by Dick Logue
I remember when this author first started sharing low-sodium recipes online and subscribing to his newsletters. They were fascinating, easy to follow, well crafted recipes that I was easily able to follow and over time…the number of recipes has increased, and the presentation is professional, easy to understand and the recipes many and varied. There is something for everyone in here…not a lot of vegan-vegetarian recipes for me and yet I was intrigued by the seasoning blends, condiments, sauces, information on basic ingredients, sauces, and recipes I thought might work for my more vegetarian-vegan lifestyle.
The introduction was informative and interesting and was followed by these chapter titles:
* Spice blends and seasonings
* Condiments and sauces
* Appetizers, snacks, and party foods
* Breakfast
* Chicken and turkey
* Beef
* Pork
* Fish and seafood
* Soups, stews, and chilis
* Salads and salad dressings
* Potatoes and rice
This is a cookbook that I would recommend to anyone wanting to decrease their sodium intake for any reason. Flavor has been retained even though salt may have been eradicated and I am eager to try a few recipes from this book in the near future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
This book is short and doesn’t have that many recipes I personally didn’t find this one helpful at all
Although sodium is important mineral many important body functions such as fluid regulation, electrolyte balance and maintenance blood pressure but it must limited under some health condition such as heart failure, high blood pressure and kidney disease. Mostly sodium will found naturally in foods like eggs, meat, dairy product, vegetables also salt table. Sodium also found generously on processed and packaged, frozen and fast food where salt is added during the process to preservation and enhance flavors.
Low sodium Cooking Made Easy is a creative cookbook recipe to help a low sodium diet life become more delicious. This book not only offer diverse range recipes for any occasions but also introduce into low sodium diet lifestyle, how to shop ingredient, nutrition analysis for each recipe, cook it and enjoy it without sacrificing taste.
Thank you Netgalley and Fair Winds, New Shoe Press from Quarto Publishing Group for provided me this copy. My thoughts always my own.
I am so glad that I decided to request this cookbook. I've reduced sodium in my diet over the last 10 years, not because a doctor told me to, but because I know it's a healthier way to live./eat. Most of the recipes are ones that I currently make, however, the best part of the book is that it included various spice blends to use instead of salt, a salt substitute if you will. This is the magic to cooking without out salt and I am looking forward to incorporating these blends into my cooking ASAP!
This is a cookbook we all need to have at home! Besides it not having photos of each dish, it’s so simple, clear and easy to read and follow that I didn’t even mind the lack of photos. Most of the recipes are the ones that we already know how it looks like, like for exemple rices, chicken nuggets, bbq beef brisket, pulled pork, fried catfish, Cincinnati chili, and more. The book starts with spice blends and seasonings recipes, then there are condiments and sauces, basic ingredients (stocks and broths), then there recipes for appetizers, breakfast, chicken, beef, pork, fish, soups, salads, potatoes and rice. Very well organized. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
LOW-SODIUM COOKING MADE EASY by Dick Logue is all about how to "Eat Well and Maintain Health Naturally with Less Salt." This is adapted from other low sodium cookbooks which Logue has produced and the thoroughness of this recent cookbook prompted me to investigate other offerings from him which feature slow cooker, high fiber, and low cholesterol recipes. LOW-SODIUM COOKING MADE EASY begins with chapters devoted to spice blends & seasoning and to condiments & sauces (like sweet and sour or a teriyaki substitute). The Baked French Toast in the breakfast section seems like an easy dish to prepare the night before. In addition, there are plenty of main dishes – with chapters on chicken & turkey, beef, or pork from which to choose. I am looking forward to trying Hungarian Beef Stew and also Pork and Sweet Potatoes, both in the slow cooker. And for seafood, we will be sampling Salmon Packets and Potato Crusted Fish. If you are still looking for ideas, there are additional chapters with suggestions for soups, stews & chilis, for salads & salad dressings, and for potatoes & rice. Unfortunately, there are not many pictures which I personally feel are pretty essential to an enjoyable, useful cookbook. The recipes, however, are relatively easy - as promised - and point to the importance of changing shopping habits (e.g., look for low-sodium bread) while pursuing dietary changes and a healthier lifestyle.
3.5 stars due to small number of pictures
As I need to look after my health now and into my older years I am always looking at ways to cook better and healthier meals. And one way is to reduce the salt content.
This book certainly helps to do that and it a helpful and handy cookbook to have around. It gives great recipes and great ideas on how to spice up your cooking while at the same time reducing the salt/sodium.
Not a lot of photos but I don't think you need them when you have easy, straightforward recipes and this is a cookbook I think everyone should have on their shelves and in their kitchens.
