I looked at this book as a possible inspiration for my daughter's boyfriend. As meat eaters ourselves, when he visited I wanted to have some proper home cooked food to place on the table that he could also eat.
A lot of the recipes, whilst nice, did seem decadent and therefore would be a book for occasional use rather than one that my daughter would dip into daily. Despite that it is a well presented book with good photographs. It may benefit from having nutritional information too.
Nourishing Vegan is one of the most enjoyable vegan cookbooks I have read in a while. It is full of inventive recipes making full use of pantry, veg, and spice cabinet to create meals from breakfast and brunch through lunch, snacks, dinner and desserts all the way to celebrqtory meals. Many recipes come together with the help of dips or salads from another recipe, and if so these are always clearly stated in the ingredients list so that one knows in advance. There are notes at the end of many recipes with ideas for variations or combinations with additional ingredients. Oh - and each recipe is accompanied with a gorgeous photo that makes my mouth water. I am ready to dive in: Smashed Peas on Toast with Garlicky Mushrooms for breakfast (though the brunch recipe for Sweet Potato Carrot Fritters with Avocado Salsa are a close second), Falafel Feast and Two_Ingredient Flatbreads for lunch, and for dinner Filo Pastry Parcels with Mashroom Gravy followed by Lemon-Raspberry and Pistachio Loaf Cake.
I give thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy to review.
A good resource, especially for those new to vegan cooking. The selection of recipes didn't seem particularly new or original to me, but they still add up to a wide range of easy plant-based dishes to choose from. The images are a big help as well as beautiful, but I do wish the recipes included nutritional information.
A beautiful book with so much information on simple, healthy recipes for those interested in improving their health through more plant-based meals. Flavorful and tasty, there are so many dishes to choose from.
Super amazing recipes, especially the cheesy broccoli waffles! This book makes vegan meals not only easy but accessible. Providing recipes with easy-to-get and cheap ingredients it stands apart from other vegan cookbooks.
Although I am not vegan, I liked making vegan dishes to mix it up and these book had some great recipes.

Living overseas, signed up for another Veganuary, looking for recipes that are easy to make with readily available ingredients…well…thought this book might have some ideas to use this month and in the future. I will say that the photos are gorgeous and plentiful, the recipes organized so ingredients are easy to find and instructions easy to follow, and my mouth did water. And yet, every recipe I read required an ingredient not easy to find in my small village and finding a substitute might not be easy. NO Vegan yogurt, can’t find tofu, protein powder in my dreams, and the list goes on – and here I should probably mention I live in a small village in Lebanon and we don’t drive to Beirut often. Additionally, there is no nutritional information with calorie counts and as I am trying to not regain weight lost…I prefer recipes with nutritional information provided.
The introduction includes equipment needed, ingredients suggested, answers to common questions, states the purpose of the book, and there is a comprehensive index. I had heard of meals in bowls before and this book has a few pages with options to create your own and how to go about it.
This is not a cookbook for me due to the reasons mentioned above. It is a beautiful book and would make a nice wedding gift to a vegan couple along with ingredients for a recipe or two and a nice dish, baking pan, serving bowl or item to go with the recipe.
I did enjoy looking through this book and thinking about making some of the recipes and would like to thank NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds for the ARC – This is my honest review.
3-4 Stars
I am not vegan, but I often cook vegetarian meals, and my son and his partner are vegan. This cookbook has a number of recipes that are nicely photographed and seem to be well put together. Unfortunately, there were not many innovative recipes, and I only flagged a few for future reference. The snacks and sweets sections look great, but we are not big dessert eaters, so perhaps if you are, this would be a fun book.
This is a beautifully presented cookbook that has a lot of very tasty recipes. Since the emphasis is on flavor and enjoyment, those looking to lose weight or eating plant based for health reasons will not find many recipes here. But for those who want rich and decadent food that looks great, there is a lot here to savor and enjoy.
The book breaks down as follows: short introduction about the author and the philosophy of the book and then there recipe chapters: Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks, Sweets, Celebrations. Recipes include: pumpkin spice layer cake, chocolate chip cookie layer cake, chocolate fruit and nut fudge cups, smoky sweet potato-mixed bean chili, almond satay tofu summer rolls, black bean and smashed avocado breakfast burritos, banana caramel French toast, and many more.
None of the recipes have nutrition information (perhaps it is best not to know the fat/carb quantities, though). But every recipe has a professional full page photograph. Each recipe has a main title, serving size, time to make, and then a short introductory paragraph. Ingredients are divided by type (e.g., the recipe for peanut butter and raspberry jam toaster pastry has ingredients broken down into 3 paragraphs of filling, pastry, and frosting). Steps are short numbered paragraphs paragraphs. At the bottom are serving suggestions and variations (such as gluten free or nut free).
Note that these are decadent vegan recipes so they include fairly heavy amounts of sugars (usually maple syrup), fats (nuts/seeds/oil), and salt. Also, regular breads and pastas are used rather than whole grain or lentil-pasta options. But they are also very colorful and very tasty. I made the minestrone soup (I didn't add oil and substituted the regular pasta for chickpea pasta) and it was as tasty as promised.
In all, a beautifully presented and tasty set of recipes for those who are not eating Vegan for health reasons and instead want decadent plant-based recipes. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
I found the recipes to be ok, nothing to special. Some looked great and I cannot wait to try them others were blah and I just wouldn't be interested in them.
Love it!
Great pictures, great recipes. All the ones that i have tried were pretty darn tasty. Looking forward to making more!
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC !
This is a beautiful cookbook with so many great every day options. The recipes feel like the perfect balance of both delicious and (mostly) healthy. I especially love the single serving cookie recipes—brilliant! There are so many things I can’t wait to try!
I haven't had time to make any of the recipes yet, but after looking through the cookbook there are only a few that I'm even interested in trying to make. I liked how there were so many pictures of the recipes in the book - it is always nice to see what the food looks like when finished.

I was really disappointed in the dinner section and unfortunately a lot of the recipes aren't new. A lot of great snacks and desserts. The best part is there are several recipes that can do different ways so that was great.
I’m not vegan but I do enjoy brining in plant based meals into my weekly meal plan. I really enjoyed using this cookbook! Visually, this is a very pleasing cookbook. I’m someone that really needs to see pictures of a recipe to determine if I’ll make it or not. The photography is really well done and makes the recipes even more appetizing! The directions were all very clear and easy to follow, as well as the ingredient lists. What I appreciated the most was the time the author took to explain essential ingredients, answer commonly asked questions, and talk about kitchen equipment that will commonly be used throughout the book. Having all of this placed in the book before you even get to the recipes can help relieve any stress a “newbie” to either cooking or veganism would have.
There are recipes that would appease anyone of any diet and lifestyle. I’ll definitely recommend this cookbook to friends and family!
Thank you netgalley and Amy Lanza for allowing me to review this cookbook.
This is such a beautiful book. I am not a vegan personally but I have a lot of friends with various food restrictions so I always take an interest in recipes that will appeal to them. This cookbook left me inspired and excited to try more and more vegan recipes. Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to give an honest review on this beautiful cookbook!
This is a great book full of interesting recipes. I was pleased by the variety and would recommend. Perfect for my vegan partner, and some healthy options too.
Some amazing idea’s in here, I can’t wait to try them – I especially liked the sweet treats!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

A visually enticing cookbook broken down into seven main sections: Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, snacks, sweets, and celebrations. Some sections worked better than others, like for me the breakfast section being mostly oats and smoothies wasn't anything special. I really appreciated the introduction where she went into her food philosophy and how no food like white flour, vegan butter, and sugar are "bad" especially in moderation. The book has a refreshing balance of healthy and decadent recipes that any person could fit into their life. After the intro, there is a pretty standard breakdown of popular ingredients the book uses, and a little Q & A session. The brunch section was a standout for me, from the savory broccoli waffles to sweet potato carrot fritters. I loved the single cookie idea, though it seemed a bit of work to have to do it in the oven after refrigerating the dough. With cooling it takes about 40 minutes for one cookie. If you are a brunch, tofu, soup and salad person I would certainly check out this book!
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
This cookbook seems very esthetically pleasing and healthy but I don’t feel like these aren't meals i would want on a day to day basis. It has great presentation though!
