Charlotte Wayne has been in a love/hate relationship with Chance Beaumont since they were kids. It's hard for her because she sees him almost every time she hangs out with her group of friends. And he secretly stole her heart years ago. Chance has a lot of baggage from his father to deal with and realizes that it's affected his relationships. Can he heal from the damage that his father did to him and open his heart up to love?
This was a sweet contemporary romance filled with heat, good characters, and a plot that makes you believe that love can succeed through any circumstance. Ms. Fox weaves a tale that will keep you up at night to get to the sweet ending. I want to thank NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for this advanced reader's copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.

This was a difficult book for me. The two main characters have known each other since they were kids and yet dislike each other. At least that is the way it appears. Then they act like they are together and work together but instead of staying that way, they end up going back and forth which causes my confusion throughout the book. I do know most of Chance's problems stem from his father and the verbal abuse he has suffered from him, and Chande is worried and scared that he will do the same to Charoltee who he actually loves. A book just felt off at times for me.

This book was not for me. I was not a huge fan of this story and I struggled to finish it. I liked Charlotte she was a fighter but she spoke what was on her mind and did not give a hoot about what anyone thinks. When I think of a cowboy I think ruff and rugged and some who takes the world by the horns, however that was not the case with Chase. I found him a weak person who was annoying and whiney. I did not like him at all. I also felt the say reason they struggled with there relationship was just like beating a dead horse after reading the same excuse over and over it just got old. Overall this book was just not for me. This book does have adult content and may not be suitable for all readers.

What a wonderful story of love, redemption, commitment, and support. The author miraculously describes the effect of verbal abuse, which can be as detrimental to a person as physical abuse. The constant criticism, put downs, and belittling that Chance experienced from his father has factored into every decision. Charlotte shows him enduring support and with her help he tackles the feelings of inadequacy.

Her family supports him too when a secret is revealed that will change the course of his life. The stigma of living under his. dad's reputation may threaten the future he has envisioned. Can Charlotte break through the wall he's erected and prove that true love is enough? You're going to want to read this one to find out. Although part of a series it can be read as a standalone book.

Although I received a free ARC eBook from Net Galley and the publisher, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Always Her Cowboy is the 3rd book in Addison Fox's Rustler's Creek series. I had previously read the 2nd book in the series but was more interested in two of the side characters in that book (Charlotte and Chance) than the main characters. I was happy to see them get their own story that explores a more multi-faceted view of love than the surface-type you often get in romance novels.

As a whole, I'm very glad I got to read Charlotte and Chance's story, it did seem drawn out and repetitive at times and they kept circling around the same issues time and time again. Then, after seemingly drawing out the story, the ending was very abrupt and somewhat unsatisfying. I'm happy with the place they got to by the end of the book, but the happenings in the last 50 pages seemed rushed.

Modern-day star-crossed lovers in a heartwarming story of overcoming childhood trauma set on picturesque ranchlands in Montana...

Thoughts: Outdated stereotypes, chauvinism, and hard-to-escape small-town gossip plague Charlotte and Chance as they finally shoot their shot at making something real out of their lifelong attraction to each other. The writing was heavy on inner monologues -- and repetitive ones, at times -- but I appreciated that the story put love (not just romance) in all its forms at its center, and these two characters have clearly loved each other since they first met in grade school. The author mentions their childhood history at least two or three times too many, but it's incredibly sweet that Charlotte and Chance knew back when they were kids that something special was brewing between them, even if they had no idea how to handle it because, hello, they were kids. The feelings between them are written in such a way that readers can't help but want all the good things for them, and knowing the reasoning behind Chance's "hangup" over getting together with Charlotte makes you just want to hug him until he feels better about himself. I also really liked how the author incorporates 21st century ranching into the story with forward-thinking ideas like using drones to survey land. It made this book more than just another western-themed ranch-based romance -- it brought some contemporary realism into play. I also appreciated that one of Chance's biggest issues, money, seems like it gets solved early on but still causes issues throughout the story, proving that money doesn't always solve everything and can actually bring on its own host of problems.

However, in addition to the repetitive inner monologues, the ending was very abrupt and also a bit annoying. The quintessential grand romantic gesture just didn't sit right with me given the Charlotte's and Chance's character traits throughout the story, and the book ends almost as if the author had planned an epilogue but forgot to include it in the final draft. I kept turning the ebook pages thinking I missed something. But otherwise, I thought it was a good story with just enough drama to keep the plot moving without the soap opera-ish plot twists that sometimes plague romance novels.

Contemporary Romance

Rustlers Creek, Montana – Present Day

Charlotte Wayne and Chance Beaumont have always had a contentious relationship since they were children in school, and it’s continued into adulthood as they occasionally run into each other in town. While out of town trying to woo a new client for her PR company, Charlotte is not having success and walks away from one of the clients after he suggests that she should “be nice to him” if she wants the contract. Before she leaves the restaurant, she runs into Chance, who happens to be in town on business. He invites her for a drink, and one thing leads to another. But before they can make love, he is called back to his ranch. Charlotte can’t forget what happened. She liked it very much.

Now back in Rustlers Creek, Charlotte is approached about organizing a local fundraiser, but with a caveat: Chance must be her co-organizer. Turns out that someone they briefly talked to while they were having drinks thought that Charlotte and Chance were now a couple. She could say no, but she jumps at the opportunity to get to know Chance better. And he feels the same way. It soon turns out that there is a mutual attraction brewing between them.

Charlotte has had a tough time accepting that her father has groomed her older brother to be the family ranch’s heir. Her father can’t see that she is just as smart as her brother and as much a diligent worker. So, Charlotte has turned to building a PR business that collaborates with ranchers in Montana. She even offers Chance a few pointers. What she likes about him especially is that he sees her as his equal. So many men around the area think that Charlotte should just accept being the “little woman” and give up trying to be a business success. She plans to prove them wrong!

Life growing up wasn’t good for Chance. His father was a mean SOB who verbally abused him, but he stuck it out. Cancer finally took his father and Chance inherited the ranch, but it’s been a challenge with little money to help. All his life he was told by his father that he was a loser, so when Charlotte starts to show an interest in him, one can understand why he can’t accept her help. Yet, she has the kind of touch that soothes the wild beast in him, and Chance soon realizes he wants her, just like he did when they were younger. Can Chance deal with the pain from his past and look forward to a future with Charlotte?

They always rubbed the other wrong, but in ALWAYS HER COWBOY Charlotte and Chance find their way to each other. That one evening they spent together was special as they shared a lot about themselves and what has prevented them from achieving their life goals. In the end, Charlotte and Chance want to help each other. Will it lead to love…and a happily-ever-after? Of course, things are bumpy along the way. Don’t miss the sizzle and fun in ALWAYS HER COWBOY.

This is my first Addison Fox book and it definitely wont be my last. This is an adorable romance that has love, loss, grief and second chances. Charlotte Wayne grew up as ranching royalty in Rustlers Creek,Montana while Chance Beaumont is still trying to dig his way out of the massive debt his father left him with. Since they met in the forth grade, he's always deemed himself not worthy enough for her. But once life puts them in each others orbit, he starts to see things differently. This is HEA and you will just swoon at the last chapter! This is part of a series but i have not read the previous two books and i feel it could be read as a stand alone. Definitely worth picking up when it release on May 23rd! I want to thank Avon and Harper Voyager for sending this for me to review via Netgalley.!

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Chance and Charlotte get a second chance at love in this book. There is a lot of push and tug from the two but the ending will have your heart melting.

Lots of thoughts about stature in the community and fighting through past abuse has Chance running away from Charlotte but she has a way of always putting others first and helps Chance work through it all.

Nice read but struggled a little with too much back and forth between the two.

Great story! Charlotte and Chance finally get their “chance” to pursue more than just their bickering frenemies relationship. I hadn’t read the previous in the series, but I’m going to definitely pick them up now!
