Chrismas-themed romance short story with the second chance trope.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this. It really gave off Christmas and winter vibes. I loved the side characters. Did the plot feel a bit rushed? Sure, but it is a short story in the end so I'll give it a pass.
Thank you, NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC.
The story is a delightful mix of humor and heart, featuring a lovable protagonist whose grumpy exterior hides a warm and caring interior. Quinn’s witty writing and playful characters make this book a fun escape, perfect for getting into the festive spirit. It’s a cute and cozy read that’s sure to bring a smile to your face. With the typical Quinn humor!
I snjoyed This book. It was well written. I was able to engage with characters and plot. I would Read another book by this author and I recommend This book.
Love a good festive romance! This was so much fun to read. I loved the characters and the wit between the pair.
This book was amazing, I love the plot and the characters.
This book kept me engrossed throughout.
It was a great quick read.
This was such a cute Christmas novella. I did the audiobook and the narrators did such a great job! The pen pal trope and second chance romances are always a winner for me so I adored Caleb & Nola’s story.
This is a perfect short-story, holiday rom-com for any romance reader.
It has Meghan's wit & humor with the perfect dash of second-chance romance that readers love.
I read this within an hour & it was the most joyous hour of my day.
Grab it & get to reading!
Somehow the author managed to pack in a very short novella a very rich storyline of getting back together. It was fast, and it was cute and engaging, which was great but at the same time all of that was something that bugged me at the end. It was too fast and too short, I am sure that I would like it even more if it was a full-size novel.
The pen names that they had were amazing, especially hers. The banter between the characters was great and it was a strong base for the plot. That kind of energy was certainly between two people who are on the same level. As I was reading I enjoyed it and got invested in the story but the ending just fell flat. It was already seen, nothing new, and no sparks were flying around.
If you are looking for a fast, safe, and instant shot of holiday joy, then this is the right story for you.
I received an eARC via NetGalley and this is my honest review.
Really cute and short holiday second chance romance story.
Nola is back in her home town and facing her ex Caleb. They have been avoiding each other and feeling sour toward Christmas holiday. Caleb writes his feelings on a letter and that was sent to Nola.
No spice but keeps your heart warm.
This was basically a Hallmark movie in a book. Light hearted small town second chance romance. It gave me all the feels and put me in the holiday spirit. The only think is I wish there was more, I wanted to know more before it ended.
Overall cute story with great characters.
I've enjoyed plenty of Meghan Quinn books in the past so I was excited to see a holiday short story from her. I'm glad I waited for 2023's holiday season to read this one because I was not feeling the holiday spirit at all this year. Two grinchy pen pals as the main characters made me love this story so much. I'm definitely in my small town romance era and novellas make it even more perfect. The letters were cute and had me laughing so much. I loved the town set in Maine and the town's supporting characters. I highly recommend if you're looking for a cute quick second chance romance story.
This was a cute one, I wish there was a bit *more* to it but overall I enjoyed it. The characters were great, especially the grandma, and it was a quick and easy read.
This book is only 80 pages (or 1 hour 42 mins on audio) so it’s a nice little one-sitting read.
Two holiday-hating exes find themselves back in their hometown together. It’s as if Christmas threw up on the town, and all this good cheer is just making their moods even worse. In a bid to vent about their distaste for the holidays they end up writing to each other, under pen names so they don’t know who the recipient actually is. After a while of letter writing they become friends, and start to feel like their anonymous pen pal really gets them...only to have extremely mixed emotions when the secret of their identities comes out. Can they put their past behind them to give love a second chance?
It was cute, predictable, and a fast read, so I say pick this one up.

When Caleb throws out an angry letter about his hatred of Christmas and his friend finds it and sends it to Nola, a secret pen-pal relationship ensues. This was fun! It was like eating a merengue - sweet, festive, and without unnecessary substance. Perfect for this time of year (especially if you need a quick read to meet your 2023 goal!)
Thanks so much to Meghan Quinn and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC through NetGalley. Resting Scrooge Face is available now on Kindle Unlimited or to buy on Amazon for $1.99 in the US.
A classic Meghan Quinn novel. This is a super quick and fun holiday read! Perfect to sneak in between wrapping presents! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.
Exactly what you expect from a MQ novella - lots of laughs and slow burn. Nola and Caleb are reunited at Christmas time through written word thanks to the nosey mailman facilitating a pen pal exchange. The curmudgeon Caleb and down on her luck Nola bond on their dislike of the cheery holiday through the letters but despise each other in person.
Duet narration on the audio - a quick read/listen to get you in the holiday spirit!
I love everything by Meghan Quinn and this was no different. This book was like reading a hallmark movie. It’s a light second chance romance perfect to get you in the holiday spirit.
Such a cute little novella.
I wanted more. I wanted more story and more of the characters. But the story telling though the letters really did a good job or showing the connection between two Theo authors growing. It felt real and not rushed that way.
Give me more!
This was a super short cute little romantic comedy about high school sweethearts Caleb and Nola. I really enjoyed this one and it was the perfect little story to get into the holiday season.
Such a cute short story, I really liked it but I wish it was much longer!!! The dynamic of the letters was so fun and both Nola and Caleb are SO cute, I was looking forward to them being back together at the end. Grandma Louise and Arden dating each other too and planning it all... masterminds!
