Well, this is a delightful novella that will put you right in the Christmas spirit. Nola returns to her hometown but is anxious about seeing her ex and being in a Christmas town when she lacks Christmas spirit. Caleb isn’t feeling the holiday spirit either and tries to get it out of his system by putting pen to paper, but unbeknownst to him his letter gets delivered anonymously to Nola.
.
Their anonymous letters back and forth are so fun. They had me laughing out loud, in true Quinn fashion that I have come to love. By the time they end up together I was rooting for them.

Caleb broke Nola's heart. Now that she's back in Bright Harbor there could be a second chance... for them both.

Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn is a fantastic Christmas short story!
It was too good to read it any slower!
I loved Nola and Caleb right from the beginning. Both don't like Christmas that much... but that changes... 😉
Awwww! I really loved this holiday romance!
What else can I say?!
Read it to get yourself in the holiday mood! 💕🎄

First of all, this is the cutest cover and title! Love them both! ♥️

I don’t read short stories often, because it feels like there’s not enough time to build an emotional connection with the characters. This one was very cute despite staying surface level. Exes Nola and Caleb are back in the same small town, avoiding each other and feeling grumpy despite the Christmas spirit surrounding them. Unintentionally becoming pen pals leads them to rekindle their romance and find that Christmas cheer they’ve been missing.

There’s some cute banter, the letters are fun, and the small town Maine setting was amazing. All in all a short, fun holiday story.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc!

My biggest challenge with "Resting Scrooge Face" is the same as everyone else's: it's too short. I knew this going in, but can't emphasis enough how much the briefness of this "grumpy-grumpy reunited love trope" impacts its delivery. I liked the characters and the secret letter exchange idea is cute - as are the older side characters - but the story just wasn't fleshed out enough for me to care that much. I honestly was tempted to give this an even lower rating but I knew before deciding to read "Resting Scrooge Face" that it was short so it's hard to fault it more so.

Thank you to Meghan Quinn, Amazon Stories, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.

'Tis the season for holiday romances and this one certainly hits the spot. Resting Scrooge Face is a very charming Christmas short story! The perfect book to read in one sitting while sipping hot cocoa next to your seasonal decor.

Our protagonist, Nola returns to her hometown following a breakup with her boyfriend. Just one problem, her ex, Caleb, still lives in town, and no matter how hard she tries to avoid him, the inevitable happens, and they come face to face.

They are both suffering from a bit of Scrooginess this holiday season, so the town mailman decides to play matchmaker and deliver secret letters back and forth between them.

Meanwhile, Caleb and Nola keep bumping into each other around town, and it's clear that there are unresolved feelings between them.

Since this is a novella, they quickly resolve the issues stemming from their breakup, and there's a wonderful scene when they realize who the other is. This epistolary tale was also supported by some interesting characters such as the meddling mailman and Nola’s sassy grandma.

The letters back and forth were engaging and witty and if you are a fan of second chance romances, dual POV stories, small town vibes, and a little spark of the holiday spirit be sure to add this to your TBR list this season!

We thank NetGalley for the ARC that was sent to us, which we have voluntarily reviewed.

A sweet second chance romance with a mystery pen pal letter trope and double grump characters. If you are looking for a quick holiday read that feels like a mini hallmark movie then Resting Scrooge Face is definitely something to pick up.

Such a cute holiday story! The letter writing trope is my favourite and I love second-chance romances. This one did it so well and made it the perfect way to get me ready for the holiday season. I wish it was longer because I was really enjoying the characters. All-in-all I would definitely recommend!

Resting scrooge face by Meghan Quinn was a super cute short story. I loved this little snippet of Caleb and Nola's lives and the way they reunite with grouchy secret letters.
Also the side characters of grandma and Arden(cupid) were super entertaining. In typical meghan quinn fashion. The humor stood out for this story. My only issue is I wanted more!

Coming off of a bad break up, Nola returns to her hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine and is far from being in a festive mood. Caleb, the resident handyman and ex boyfriend of Nola, is a bit of a grinch when it comes to the holidays and decides to unload these thoughts into the universe by writing a letter to Christmas itself penned as Resting Scrooge Face. Told in alternating POVs through a mostly epistolary format, Nola and Caleb unknowingly become pen pals discussing their mutual dislike for all things festive. Will revealing their true identity falter the connection they've managed to rekindle through these letters?

'Tis the season for holiday romances and this one certainly hits the spot. Resting Scrooge Face is a very sweet, charming, & utterly delightful Christmassy novella! The perfect book to read in one sitting while sipping hot cocoa next to your seasonal decor. If you are a fan of second chance romances, dual POV stories, small town vibes, and a little spark of the holiday spirit, be sure to pick this one up!

Oh I wish this was longer! Caleb and Nola's second chance holiday romance was delightful, and I adored Grandma Louise and postman Arden too. It was a neat surprise to get to visit author Quinn's Port Snow again (hello Lobster Landing!). Resting Scrooge Face and Ho Ho No have me ready to celebrate the holidays with a smile.

Meghan Quinn is one of my go to's when I need a pick me up from my book slump and this short Christmas story was exactly what I needed! Nola and Caleb got an axing second chance romance story after their previous split when Nola went to college. Years after their breakup they find themselves back in their hometown and pushed together again.

This book had lots of cheer and gave off great Christmas vibes! This story was quick, interesting and everything I was looking for!

📚✨Book Review✨📚

Resting Scrooge Face
Author: Meghan Quinn

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Notes: I received a copy of this book as an advanced reader, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

What I Liked:
🎄Small town, second chance romance than takes place at Christmas. 100% perfect holiday vibes. I love this entire book. It was short and sweet and lovable. Bonus the epistolary element that I didn’t realize were in this, but absolutely adored!

🎄All the trademarks of a Meghan Quinn rom com are here. As expected, at laughed out loud twice even though this book took me less than an hour to read. Also loved the addition of some callbacks to previous books (here’s looking at you Port Snow ❄️)

What I Didn’t Like:
🎄In a very un-Meghan Quinn turn of events this book isn’t spicy at all. It is really really sweet and I loved it anyway!

🎄I always want more Meghan Quinn. So of course this book was way too short for me!

Final Thoughts:
🎄If this is your first Meghan Quinn book…where have you been? She is a literary goddess. Also be warned, her other books 🥵🥵🥵.

This was short and sweet! Nola is this sister of Ryot whose story we got in Untying the Knot. What’s extra fun about this story is that it takes place in the hometown where they grew up, Bright Harbor, which is near Port Snow, the town we love from Quinn’s Getting Lucky series. I loved that this story was somewhat told through the letters back and forth between Nola and Caleb. The small town characters were so much fun. I would love to spend time in this little town near Port Snow. And I was definitely left smiling by the end of the story.

The only complaint I have? That it was so short! This short story from Meghan Quinn who has most of her books these days at least 500 pages long was like sharing an appetizer at a restaurant with a group where you only get one bite or taste of it. I needed more! And now I can only wait as patiently as possible for her to give Ryot and Nola’s brother his own story some day.

Super cute holiday second chance romance! It’s a novella, so it’s a quick read. Great to read when you need a little break from holiday busyness.

Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn
3.5 stars
Pub Date: 11/29

Resting Scrooge Face is a holiday novella about two grinches who fall in love over the holidays through letters they write to each other. It was short and sweet and had all the Christmas vibes I was looking for.

Nola and Caleb get a second chance at love after Nola returns home to her small town in Maine, nursing a broken heart. She’s been avoiding Caleb since she got back but inevitably runs into him at the hardware store he owns. Neither of them is excited about the holidays, and Caleb even goes so far as to write a letter about how much he despises Christmas, addressing it to no one but signing it Resting Scrooge Face. The letter winds up in Nola’s hands, and she decides to write back in agreement about how much she also dislikes the holidays. The two become pen pals, bemoaning everything Christmasy but unaware of who they’re writing to.

This was cute. I didn’t connect with either character, but that could be because of the book’s short length. It was fun to watch these “grinches” reconnect and find some Christmas spirit. I enjoyed the setting, the holiday vibes, and the hilarious letters Nola and Caleb wrote to each other.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for my advanced copy to read and review.

Fun, flirty little story that ties into Untying the Knot by Meghan. I was glad to get the story of Nola and get to visit Bright Harbor and Port Snow again. Those are some of my favorite fictional settings in a book. The banter in the letters was adorable and I would love to see more to this couple.
