Short, sweet and a holiday treat!
If you're looking for a very short (maybe too short?) and light hearted holiday novella, then definitely pick this up! It's a small-town, second chance romance centered around anonymous pen pal notes and it's filled with lots of snark and meddling grandparents. Oh, Oh AND it takes place in Port Snow, ME (IYKYK)! I honestly wish this was just a bit longer because I really enjoyed all the pieces of the story and wanted more!
This was the the CUTEST second chance romance novella! I loved the letters (and the banter!) between Caleb and Nola! The small town setting was so freakin' magical! And Grandma Louise? Most adorable grandma award goes to her! My only compliant? I WANT MORE!
Such a fun and quick read - this one follows Nola, Ryot's sister (from Untying the Knot) and takes us back to Maine. Nola has just returned home after a break-up and receives a letter from someone who hates the holidays. She decides to respond, not knowing that the author is her high school sweetheart.
Local residents and elders intervene to make sure that the two reconnect. It was short, but a good bridge to wrap up from the prior release.
Grab a cup of hot cocoa, sit in a dark room by the glow of a fireplace or Christmas tree and enjoy this delightful holiday novella from Meghan Quinn! What would you if you move back home during the holiday season and find out that your secret also-hates-Christmas penpal is the guy who broke your heart?
Caleb (Resting Scrooge Face) and Nola (Ho-Ho-No) are adorable! They are both suffering from a bit of Scrooginess this holiday season, so mailman Arden decides to play matchmaker and deliver secret pen pal letters back and forth between them. As they write to one another, Caleb and Nola each begin to smile again, hum Jingle Bells, and even get into the holiday spirit! Meanwhile, Caleb and Nola keep bumping into each other around town, and it's clear that there are loads of unresolved feelings between them.
Since this is a novella, they quickly resolve the issues stemming from their breakup, and there's a wonderful scene when they realize who the other is. It's a Christmas miracle!
This book is set in both Meghan Quinn's Port Snow universe -- Bright Harbor is the next town over, and just a hair not-as-Christmassy as Port Snow! -- and is also connected to the baseball series since Nola is the sister of Ryot from Untying The Knot.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and voluntarily left a review.
I didn’t get anything from this, unfortunately. I’m aware of the confines of a short story and how hard it can be to build reader rapport with the characters and story, but even couching my expectations didn’t help. Expanding this into a short novella might have helped me find more depth to the story.
I really enjoyed this novella, it was short and sweet. I liked the aspect of having the letters they wrote so we can learn more about Nola and Caleb. This novella would be a perfect read to pair with your favourite holiday drink!
Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn was the sweetest and most adorable Holiday Novella ever!!
If you LOVE
🎄small town / Christmas vibes

than this book is most definitely the book for you!!
I gave this 5 Christmas Fave Stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I”m a sucker for handwritten letters … Caleb & Nola gave us that and so much more!! Definitely the Christmas Cheer I didn’t know I needed!! ♥️🎄♥️
Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review! I HIGHLY recommend!!!
A delightful holiday novella.
Nola & Caleb are both less than thrilled with all the festive cheer in their little town. In a moment of frustration Caleb writes a “hate” letter to Christmas which magically lands in the hands of his former girlfriend Nola. Thus begins a pen-pal relationship where the comfort of anonymity allows them both to be more open with their feelings than they normally would face-to-face.
Between the flirty banter they share in their letters to their snarky encounters when they see each other around town (their first run-in was so awkward I cringe laughed through it), their relationship starts to grow again.
With a quirky Christmas obsessed town as the backdrop and meddlesome secondary characters, this delightful little novella delivered a perfect heartwarming story that I so enjoy this time of year!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Resting Scrooge Face is a cute and funny holiday short story about two exes that bond over their lack of Christmas spirit through anonymous letters. We also get to revisit the amazing town of Port Snow!
A wonderful, quick read to start the season.
Resting Scrooge Face is a sweet holiday novella with two lovable grumps given a second chance at romance. A quick, easy read to brighten your holidays-I loved it!
Resting Scrooge Face was a sweet, fun second chance holiday romance. I could definitely see, and would love to see, this as a made-for-television Christmas movie! It was a delightful, lighthearted, quick read that will make even the scroogiest of scrooges a believer.
After seeing Aaron Shedlock will be narrating the male mc, I know this will be repeat listen during the holiday season!
This was a very cute novella that takes place in the snowy small town Bright Harbor. Two exes start a pen pal romance without knowing who they are writing to.
💌
Nola hates christmas and don't want anything to do with it and absolutely don't want anything to do with her ex Caleb.
💌
Resting Scrooge Face (Caleb) and Ho Ho No (Nola) starts to write letters to one and other through a mailman, expressing why they hate christmas so much...
💌
A lighthearted christmas tale with sweet and funny dialogues. The only problem for me was that it was very very short and the story felt too rushed. I wanted more
Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn is an Amazon Original Story and a holiday short story. This is the story of Nova and Caleb.
Nova and Caleb were a couple in the past and it didn’t work out. Caleb especially made some dumb decisions that he now regrets. Nova wants nothing to do with Caleb and tries to avoid him as much as possible.
Caleb now hates Christmas and he is rather grumpy but writes his feelings down in a letter signed by Resting Scrooge Face. I could totally feel some unresolved tension between them and one of the side characters also felt that and he gives this letter from Caleb to Nova and the two start writing to each other without knowing that. Nova is also not the biggest fan of Christmas anymore and I loved how that season brought them back together. Furthermore, it was so exciting to see more of Nova who is the sister of Ryot from Untying The Knot and I already loved her in that book.
I absolutely adored the concept of this book and it totally evoked Christmas vibes. This second chance romance is perfect to read during this season and I only wish it was longer.
Overall, I highly recommend this holiday novella. 4 stars.

Nola is back in her hometown after a rough break up. Caleb, who never left their hometown is running his father’s hardware store, dreading the holiday season. While actively trying to avoid one another they become mystery pen pals, bonding over their mutual dread of the holiday season.
What a fun holiday novella! Meghan Quinn’s humor shines through it in quick read. I loved the Easter eggs from the Meghan Quinn universe hidden throughout the story. This story was a great kick off to the Christmas season. Super fun and and swoony.
Witty and adorable, Resting Scrooge Face is the perfect holiday rom com! It’s a quick read, but a wholly enjoyable one, and it was so much fun catching up with old characters, who feel much more like old friends! If you’re looking to get in the Christmas spirit, this is the book for you!
It’s beginning to look a lot like a second chance for two kindred spirits who find themselves lost in a seasonal funk.
Light and sweet, Nola and Caleb’s journey through letters and the emotions left in their wake was adorable with a pinch of cheek and hallmark charm that lit it from within. I found myself indulging in laughter and boasting a silly grin for this bite-sized slice of Christmas and the heart wrapped inside, and I just loved the characters and perspectives presented, Scrooge and all.
The pen pal exchanges between “Ho Ho No” and “Resting Scrooge Face” carried a familiarity to the lonelier emotions present amidst the silly of the season, and the swift friendship was lovely to see. I was besotted by their wit and the charm captured on the page, and enjoyed watching them bond in anonymity over waning spirits and an initial lack of Christmas cheer, only for it to rekindle through their open communications and camaraderie. The ghosts of past and unresolved feelings that surfaced, while brief, were laid out clearly and addressed maturely as both sides found a sense of healing and renewed joy for the season. I definitely would have enjoyed reading more of these two!
I am a sucker for a good second chance, and with some sneaky meddling and good intentions, this was certainly it! For a quick and sweet immersion into the silly season that is sure to lift your spirits, look no further than Quinn’s latest treat.

When Nola returns to her small hometown in Maine after a bad breakup, she's in no mood for the Christmas season... or her ex-boyfriend Caleb. They were sweethearts in high school but when she asked him to come with her to New York, he refused and broke up with her.
Caleb had lived in this small town his whole life, taking over his father's hardware store like he always planned. He's not built for the big city, but he's always regretted letting Nola go. Feeling lonely, he writes a letter jokingly detailing his hatred of Christmas. He never meant to send it but when the mailman delivers a mysterious reply from someone who shares those feelings, they begin exchanging more.
This was a sweet Hallmark-like Christmas romance with great snarky banter and some laugh aloud scenes. While this story didn't have the spice of most of her full length novels, the humor is definitely there. Great quick and easy novella to get you in the holiday mood.

This is the perfect, super fast, short Christmas read to get you in the holiday spirit! I loved reading about Nola after having just finished Untying the Knot (her brother Ryot's story) and to see her get her second chance at love this way was so cute. Her interactions with Caleb were funny and the notes were so cute. Arden and Grandma Louise were hilarious and adorable too! Highly recommend this one for a fun, sweet holiday read. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for this ARC of Resting Scrooge Face in exchange for an honest review! This book was a second chance, Scrooge meets Scrooge holiday romance, which was a hilarious and refreshing take on a sweet holiday story. It was super short and definitely for the grumps of the world who want to get into the Christmas spirit anyway. Caleb and Nola served their purpose in this just by being cute in a cute romance book. It's what it seems!
5 🌟

The banter between Nola and Caleb was fun and you can't help but fall in love with them.
