Super short holiday story by Meghan Quinn! Low spice and just fun vibes.
Our two MCs, Nola and Caleb, are high school exes who went separate ways, but find their way back to one another.
But of course their HEA is not possible without a meddling mailman, hilarious run-ins and flirty, festive letters.
This story will put you in a good mood - especially if you’ve read Untying the Knot and the Port Snow Series. All of the Port Snow Series easter eggs made me super giddy.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc. All opinions are my own.

I love Christmas stories and any story where there is a grump, even better! This short story focuses on old loves who unknowingly become scroogelike pen pals when one of them moves back to town.
Caleb and Nola make quite the pair! Their history comes through as does their mutual disdain for all things Christmas. Quinn’s humor shines through in all interactions and the short story will leave you begging for more.

I thought this short story / novella was so cute! I think that the letters were so much fun that I wish there were more of them. I also think that the "I love you" at the end would have been much more believable if the individual characters had talked more about how much they were in love when they were together / how those feelings have never really gone away. It was difficult to believe the ILY at the end without the build up of longing. But super well written and tons of fun, great quick cozy Christmas read.

Resting Scrooge Face is a cute second chance Rom-Com that can easily be devoured in a day.
And while I did like the story line and the whole anonymous pen-pal trope. I just didn't care for the dialogue between the MC's. The writing felt mostly like an after thought and very thrown together. I did really enjoy the coupling scene and wish the rest of the story had the same flow.
Characters were all likable enough, despite the annoying dialogue.
Overall rating: 2/5 stars
1/5 steamy chiles

A fun holiday romance and quick read to get in the seasonal mood. I liked the idea of Nola and Caleb rediscovering their love for each other through the letters.

Thank you to the author, Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was very short, and quite sweet although extremely foreseeable. I'm a sucker for an epistolary exchange of letters, and the self-deprecating snark was fun to read. Nothing deep, but a fun read.

Another fun romantic comedy by Quinn. She is definitely an auto buy for me. Wonderful character development throughput this humorous holiday romance. One not to be missed!

Resting Scrooge Face is a second chance romance novella that was more Hallmark than Quinn’s normal steam and humor. In fact, there was no steam.
Caleb and Nola are former high school sweethearts who broke up after graduation so Nola could head to NYC. Now so many years later (the readers aren’t told how many), Nola is back in town nursing a broken heart and Caleb is running the family hardware store.
Both hating on Christmas, Caleb drafts a letter as Resting Scrooge Face, but trashes it. Unknowingly, the letter makes it’s way to Nola and begins a series of back and forth.
Throw in a couple small town run ins and the letters and the couple goes between friend and foe.
By the end Resting Scrooge Face and Ho Ho No are revealed and the couple is back in love.
I would have liked to see some sort of a chronology. How long apart? At least college and some after? Do they really fall in love over letters? They have one conversation that isn’t laced with disdain. For a Meghan Quinn story, this was missing her usual sass and spark.

This book was cute but way too short!!! I feel like there were so many parts missing and the conclusion came way too fast for my liking. The characters were fun to read about but they were pretty basic and I'd like to have read more about both of them. Maybe novellas aren't for me but Meghan did well with this short story.

Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The perfect second chance romcom short story
🎄 Nola is back in her picturesque small Maine town after a bad break up. Now all she needs to do is avoid her high school sweetheart, Caleb. Little does she know the Scrooge she’s been sharing a hatred of Christmas with in letters is someone she might actually know.
🎄 I loved this short story for so many reasons! First, it was the perfect length for a nice quick holiday read. It really got me into the holiday spirit.
🎄 I adored Nola and Caleb. They were meant to be and it was fun watching them come together.
🎄connections, connections. Having just read Untying the Knot, I loved reading about Ryot and Banner’s sister Nola!!!
This is a must read for Meghan and Christmas romcom fans!!

I can always count on Meghan Quinn to deliver a fun-filled story full of interesting and quirky characters. Resting Scrooge Face is the perfect Christmas story about two loves finding their way back to each other, with a little help from their friends. I love that characters from Port Snow were featured in the book. It was like revisiting with old friends.

I LOVED this so much! Feeling down on his luck and frustrated with all things holly and jolly, scrooge-y Caleb pens a note to Christmas that finds its way into the hands of ... Nola, the one who got away but is back in town for the season. What happens when these two former lovers unknowingly exchange a series of anonymous notes?
It is not a small feat to make magic in the short form of a novella, but Meghan Quinn made sparks fly here. This epistolary tale was pure genius. From the meddling mailman to the spicy grandma and everything in between, I had a smile on my face the whole time I was reading. It's funny, it's sweet, and it's absolutely heart-warming. Whether you're feeling naughty or nice, this little snack of a book deserves a spot on your Christmas list!
Thank you to Amazon Original Stories and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader copy to review. It was pure joy!

This was the perfect holiday novella! It got me in the Christmas spirit and ready to read all the holiday books. I loved this book, I only wish it was a little longer. This book had me laughing, and falling in love with the characters. I also loved the back and forth with the letters. This is a great second chance at love holiday book! Be sure to check it out!!

What a cute little short story from Meghan Quinn, just in time for the holidays. It was sweet and endearing, with two old flames reuniting as adults through their mutual dislike for the Christmas holiday. It has the charm I've come to expect from Quinn, even with how short it is.
Good stuff.

Short & sweet, but all the fun Christmas vibes!
For fans of Meghan Quinn, this is not her typical spicy book! BUT the humor and wit of her characters is definitely present and made for a fun holiday read.

I enjoyed reading Meghan Quinn’s short story, Resting Scrooge Face, and I”m sure others will as well!
Nola wants NOTHING to do with getting holly jolly. All she wants to do is remodel her family’s home in Bright Harbor and move onto life’s next adventure. The postman picks up on this and starts sending her letters from a fellow hater of Christmas.
Caleb, the man who broke her heart, is still living in Bright Harbor. Also a hater of the holidays, he begins penning letters about his feelings. Little does he know who is on the receiving end.
Will these past lovers be able to recognize who is writing on the other end of the page?
This short holiday story left a smile on my face and had me wanting to get into the holiday cheer. I recommend readers find their kindles and sip some hot cocoa while reading Quinn’s latest. I did hope for a little more “open door” romance in this book but was able to settle on closed door aspects.

Nola and Caleb are made for each other, but they just didn’t know it! They are an anti-Christmas, Scrooge-ish couple, who were in love long ago. Luckily for them, Christmas brings people together and what better way to reignite an old love than to secretly exchange letters where they commiserate about how much they hate the holidays! Meghan Quinn always comes up with the most entertaining storylines and as usual, I laughed all the way to the end.
Nola and Caleb’s sour demeanor was hilarious and as their letters became more personal they realized that just maybe, Christmas wasn’t so bad after all. Obviously, they had no idea who they were writing to which was refreshing, because they could speak their mind without hurting the other person's feelings. It was like having a holiday pen pal and the more information they exchanged, the more accepting they were with how they felt about everyone around them being blissfully in love. Nola made Caleb feel happy about his dislike of the holidays, and he made her laugh and feel like she had found a friend. The perfect gift they could give each other this Christmas is another chance to spend their lives together and hopefully, by getting to know each other again through the letters, the magic of the season would shower them with happiness.

Resting Scrooge Face is so darn cute!
Nola and Caleb were high school sweethearts, until Caleb broke their hearts. Now Nola is back in town - is it time for a second chance?
The banter in the anonymous letters had me in stitches. This one is short, sweet, and funny!
Note: I received a digital review copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

This was a cute, quick read! I just felt it could’ve been a bit longer but nonetheless it had humor & a nice second chance plot which I enjoyed. I loved the idea of them writing letters to each other but not knowing it’s the other. It was short, sweet & fun!
Much thanks to Netgalley for the ARC!

This short story was super cute! It reminded me of You’ve Got Mail in that the plot centers around two anonymous pen pals who form a romantic bond around their mutual dislike of Christmas. It’s a short read, less than an hour, so the author cuts right to the chase- no filler here. If you want a short and sweet dose of Christmas romance, look no further!
