If you are in need of a fun, cute, quick holiday romance to put you in the holiday spirit look no further.
I really enjoyed Nola and Caleb and found them super endearing. The story included some great side characters including meddling mailman, Arden. I loved the letters Caleb and Nola, unknowingly changed with each other. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the story!
I can’t believe this was the first thing I’ve read by Meghan Quinn! I can’t wait to dive into her backlist!
Thank you @netgalley, @meghanquinnbooks, and @amazonpublishing for the eARC to read and review.
I LOVED this novella. I love stories that include epistolary elements. I liked the characters and felt they were relatable. Sometimes we just can’t get out of our own way. I really loved the secondary characters as well. The title is catchy as well.
What's not to love about this book!! Meghan Quinn is just an amazing writer! I absolutely loved this short but fulfilling read. Caleb and Nola will have you laughing and falling in love with them. This is a must read for Christmas!! Thank you for allowing me to read this in advanced. I downloaded Untying the Knot for my kindle unlimited tonight and can't wait to read it this week!! Thanks again!
This was a sweet Christmas short story. I really enjoyed the epistolary element and found myself rooting hard for this grumpy couple to get their second chance. Meghan Quinn's signature wit was ever present and there was a perfect small town vibe - meddling family members included of course. I'm so glad I read this little holiday treat!
Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Originals for the ARC.
Super quick, sweet short story for the season. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this one!
This is the cutest second chance, small town novella. I loved getting mentions of Port Snow. I loved the angst between Caleb and Nola. The letters. Then finding out who was behind the start of the letters. The paint incidence. I laughed a lot.
A perfect short story for the Christmas season. You have a second chance romance between high School sweethearts. Anonymously writing each other letters with the help of their nosy mailman. A definite read for the Christmas season.
Meghan Quinn does it again with this cute holiday novella. Deck the Halls and your hearts as you follow this second chance romance, it is sure to make your holidays bright and your belly hurt from all the laughter.
Nola has moved back to her hometown just in time for the holidays, but her spirit doesn’t quite meet the festive mood, she just wants to get through Christmas and avoid her ex, Caleb.
Caleb is also not in the Christmas spirit this year, so he puts his sour mood onto paper on why he could do without the holiday this year but had no intention of sharing this letter with the world.
Thank God for meddling grandmothers and nosy mailman’s, Arden and Grandma Louise are the sweetest.
Resting Scrooge Face check all my boxes for a laugh out loud, magically holiday read. It has that small town charm and is cute and cheery.
Special thanks to NetGalley, Amazon Original Stories and Meghan Quinn for this amazing ARC.
If you’re looking for a sweet and funny short Christmas story set in a small town with a second chance romance, I recommend you to pick this one up!!
I absolutely love the writing style, loveable characters and fast pacing makes this book so hard to put down.
I really like the humor on the letters they exchange to each other - how they slowly warm up to each other and let in the spirit of Christmas back into their life.
This is not really a complaint but I wish the length of the story is longer… I really enjoy the small town atmosphere and would love to know more about them aside from the exchanging letters.
Overall, it’s a heart-warming story to be read during Christmas season. I can't stop smiling when I read their letters to each other. I would definitely check other books from this author!

I received this review copy for free through Netgalley, I am leaving this review voluntarily. Huge thank you to Amazon Original Stories and the author.
I really loved this sweet short Christmas rom-com story by Meaghan Quinn. Nola moves back to her small home town and is dreading seeing her ex Caleb and wants nothing to do with the festive season, She is given a letter from the mailman from a fellow Scrooge who also doesn’t like Christmas. They become pen pals and bond over there dislike of Christmas.
Scrooge meets humbug in this second chance romance novella that`s funny, sweet and so full of Christmas bah humbug you just wanna hug them! Or root for them!
Resting Scrooge Face was an adorable small town holiday novella (with a little revisit to Port Snow!). Caleb and Nola were high school sweethearts but Caleb broke up with Nola right before she moved to New York for school. However now Nola is back in town and they are trying to navigate small town life post break up (not successfully).
One day, Caleb wrote a letter to himself complaining about the holiday season which ended up in Nola’s hands. This started an adorable secret pen pal relationship. Caleb and Nola clearly never got over each other and it was fun to watch them reconnect as strangers and old loves.
Thank you @netgalley and @meghanquinnbooks for the ARC!

Resting Scrooge was a very quick holiday read perfect for putting me in the holiday mood. It’s a short story so not a lot of time to get attached to the characters and the jokes could be cringe-y at times but overall, it was a cute and easy read that I enjoyed.
This was an utterly delightful love story to kick off the Christmas season! I was smiling from ear to ear and immediately purchased Untying the Knot to stay in Nola's universe.
A cute Christmas update of You’ve Got Mail - a little too sweet but plenty of Christmas touches make for an enjoyable read
Everyone loves Christmas, Right?
Wrong!
After returning to her hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine, Nola has completely lost the Christmas spirit. The fact that she broke up with her long-time boyfriend before moving home, and is now living in the same town as the great love of her life makes things that much worse.
For Caleb, knowing that Nola is back is giving him major anxiety. To say that he's feeling more like Scrooge every day is an understatement.
In a delightful turn of events, these two begin writing anonymous letters, which are magically delivered to each other. As they begin opening up to each other, a friendship is formed. What happens when Caleb and Nola realize they're writing to each other?
Just call it Kismet, or the perfect Christmas story.
Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn is a fun, sweet, original short short story that kept me entertained. If you're looking to get into the Christmas spirit this whimsical story will do the trick.
Thanks to Amazon Original Stories via NetGalley for the arc.
"Maybe I’m lonely. Maybe it’s the holidays, or maybe it’s the way that letter spoke to me, but Resting Scrooge Face caught my attention, and for some reason, I want to write back."
This was adorable! Sweet and funny, lighthearted but heartfelt, with relatable characters, delightful plot and several instances that made me crack up. I loved it, it was all I hoped I would get.
It's also great how short this story is. Perfect for the busy season when it's hard to get whole afternoons just for yourself. You can easily fit this novella into any schedule.
My biggest complaint was that certain parts didn't feel plausible at all. But I’m only talking about two things, and since everything else was good, it was easy to forgive the weaker parts and fully enjoy the rest of the read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn in exchange for an honest review.
Cute, second chance, small town, Christmas love story! Easy to read in one sitting 🥰
I love when a book includes banter in text form, and this story has LETTERS! Even better than texting.
Meghan Quinn writes an adorable festive rom-com with oodles of charm, set in a snowy and picturesque location in Maine. Nola Bisley has returned to her home, Bright Harbor, with a frozen heart after the break up of her relationship with Chris, she is certainly in no mood to appreciate the festive period bursting with Christmas cheer. Caleb Butler, working at his hardware store, is feeling lonely and frustrated, forseeing little but misery in his future, his hostility to the Christmas season is expressed in writing where he refers to himself as Resting Scrooge Face. As a younger man, Caleb had broken Nola's heart when she had left for New York, but he is a haunted man, filled with regrets over ghosts of the past.
Facilitated by Arden, the mailman, the pair end up inadvertently developing a relationship over their shared attitude to Christmas, mistletoe, after all, is the devil's weed, they feel seen, as they become pen pals, but not knowing who they are writing to, with Nola signing herself off as Ho Ho No. Before they know it, the Chrismas spirit begins to infect the couple, as they become besotted, looking forward with great anticipation to their letters. Will they be able to rekindle a love from the embers of a long ago past? This is a delightfully fun, feel good, witty and comic short story, of regrets, pride, angst, and love, a rom-com set in a idyllic seasonal location that will appeal to so many readers this time of the year. Many thanks to the publisher for an ARC.
This was an adorable festive book. I didn’t realize it was a short story when I picked it up. The plot could have been fleshed out a bit, but it did not feel too rushed. A cute, quick read for the holidays.
