Caleb is running the local hardware store and has become the unofficial town Scrooge. He finds himself wondering if the return of Nola, AKA the one that got away, is the cause for his extra grumpy demeanor this holiday season.

Following a break-up, Nola returns home to Bright Harbor, Maine right before Christmas. Unfortunately for Nola her Christmas spirit is nowhere to be found. When the mailman gives her a strange letter from fellow Christmas hating penpal, Nola begins finding reasons to smile again.

This was an adorable second-chance, small-town romance with a great Christmas vibe. Perfect to get ready for the season!

Really cute short story that gives you all the Christmas feels! I wish it was just a tad long it come in at under 50 pages and I think it’s a little difficult to have a full story in that time but was overall enjoyable

This was a super cute little story from one of my favorite authors! Meghan’s books always have a great mix of humor and heart and sometimes angst.

Nola returns back to her home town and can’t seem to stop running in to her ex Caleb. There are a lot of fun secondary characters and throwbacks to Meghan’s Port Snow series. This book reminded me of the 4th book in that series, “That Swoony Feeling”. Check this book out for a cute little holiday story!

I've been reading holiday novellas today and this one is easily one of my favorites for many reasons. I have a child in my life whose full name is only two letters off of Nola Bisley's which is so random that I can't help but love the book of that. Second, I love the letters in this book. They made me laugh and also agree with some of the negative Christmas opinions.

I enjoy Meghan Quinn's writing in both small short stories and long books!

This was a really fun story and while I know it was meant to be short I wish it was longer. I loved the premise of the story (I'm a sucker for the trope of secret pen pals turning out to be someone you know in real life) but the pacing felt rushed and I would have loved for it to be flushed out more. Overall it was a fun holiday read but I think it would have been even better as a full-fledged book!

Just the perfect fix for these former lovers, now scrooges. Leave it to a couple of busy bodies to pair them up during the holidays. A simple letter, meant as just ramblings to clear his head started a fun new meet cute. It’s a quick read full of humor and swoony moments. Fans of the Getting Lucky series will recognize the quaint town and holiday charm. I received an early copy and wrote my review voluntarily.

This was SO much fun! I was so excited to receive this ARC because I adore Meghan Quinn and her rom coms. This was the perfect quick, spicy holiday read. My only gripe was that it was short!

Super cute quick holiday read in the fashion of You’ve Got Mail. Always love a good lost love and reconnection story at the holidays and this does not disappoint Nola is fresh off a bad breakup and back home, & Caleb is miserable and put off the holidays after longing for the one that got away. When the two unknowingly begin writing letters to each other, holiday spirit begins to sparkle. Big fan of Meghan Quinn’s rom-coms, and this was great! Would have loved this to be a bit longer with more hilarious banter vs a short novella, but couldn’t put it down! Thanks to the author, publisher, & NetGalley for the opportunity to review this e-ARC!

I took an instant liking to both Caleb and Nora (and Arden). This novella was full of humor and charm. The letters were so cute and I only wish we had more of Caleb and Nora. They seemed like such a cute couple with lots of chemistry. Even for a novella, I felt like this was super short but I'm hoping this isn't the last we've seen of these characters. The Port Snow series is also my favorite Meghan Quinn series so I was so happy to get a few glimpses of them.

Overall, short and sweet story!

This was a really cute holiday short story. I haven’t read anything by Meghan Quinn before. I enjoyed this and would’ve liked it to be a full-scale novel with the town and characters. I’m looking forward to checking out other Megan Quinn books now. The story gave me ‘You’ve Got Mail’ vibes a little bit. Loved it!

Really cute & funny little Christmas story. It made me laugh and also very much reminded me of a Christmas Hallmark movie. It has 0% spice tho, which I was expecting there to be spice for some reason 😅 So if you're looking at this and wondering if it's spicy, it isn't. That's okay, I just thought it would be since Meghan Quinn writes great spicy romance. Highly recommend if you're wanting to read a cute story to get you in the holiday mood!

After a bad break up sends her back to her hometown right before the holidays, Nola can’t seem to enjoy the season the way she used to. When the local postman gives her an anonymous letter from an equally Grinch-y native, the pair trade hilarious letters detailing their hatred for the holidays, while slowly forming a unique friendship.

Little does Nola know that her penpal, Resting Scrooge Face, is none other than her high school ex boyfriend who broke her heart all those years ago. Just like Nola, Caleb can’t stand the holidays even more so now that her presence in town in rehashing old memories and feelings.

I loved that neither Caleb nor Nola caught on to who their penpal was, it seemed so obvious to me, but I loved reading their letters back and forth and seeing them start to enjoy the holidays again because of their rekindled friendship. Their story was so sweet and fun, and such a perfect little holiday read!

This was an adorable short holiday story! I read it in a day so it's a great little escape. I loved the back and forth, the scrooge part, all of it. I believe it was completely clean as well, if that's your thing. Normally her books are not. And if you're anti clean, don't hold that against this book, it was super cute and I love short little Christmas type stories like this

Nola wants nothing to do with Christmas, after bring dumped and moving back to her home town. Until she receives a letter from Resting Scrooge Face.
Who happens to be Caleb, her high school sweetheart, that broke her heart.

I loved this sweet small town romance. It's the perfect story for the holidays. 🎅🎄
Caleb and Nola were hilarious and relatable. Especially during their passive aggressive moments. However, my favorite was the mailman. Specifically the scene where he steals Caleb's breakfast. 🤣

This is a cute, very quick Christmas read. I liked the second chance aspect and how everyone was rooting for them to talk and figure out they were meant to me. I also really loved their letters back and forth, and thought that was a cute way to further their characters and their relationship even while they didn't know who they were writing to. The first half of this was just very slow for me, and took a while for me to get invested.

If Meghan Quinn writes it, I’m going to read it. “Resting Scrooge Face” is a fun, laugh out loud Christmas novella that I finished in one sitting.

I loved how two people that knew each other and have a history become pen pals without even knowing it. And that both are not fans of Christmas is the star on top of the tree. I laughed out loud several times while reading and it’s another winner from Meghan. The small town feel pulled me in and was so great in this story. There’s also lots of emotions packed into this novella and will be a Christmas re-read for me every year.

I received an ARC and I was so excited because I love me a Meghan Quinn book.

If you're looking for a Christmas novella that gets to the point, this book is for you.

Nola moves back to her hometown where ex Caleb still resides. When Arden the mailman finds a crumpled up letter Caleb wrote about his hatred for Christmas, he decided to play matchmaker and give it to Nola.

I loved how the novella contained their letters as conversations which made the flow of the book smooth and got to the point. Very cute and Christmas-y read perfect for a night by the tree with your favorite holiday drink

I really enjoyed this short Christmas story! Which I'm not surprised, since it is Meghan Quinn. The story follows Caleb and Nova, both not thrilled with the Christmas holiday even though being in a little Hallmark movie town. But little did they know by the end their attitude for the season would change by finding what they needed in the end.

I really enjoyed the main & side characters in this story. They were a hoot!

Thanks to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Tropes: Small Town / Second Chance

This christmas themed novella was short and sweet with dual POV. After a break up Nola goes home to the small town where she grew up. Where she receives an anonymous letter to with she responds too and runs into and old ex.

Absolutely adorable! My first Meghan Quinn book, but this quick Christmas novella was a winner. I would happily read a full length novel about our main characters, Nola and Caleb. Nola has just returned home to Maine after a bad breakup in NYC. The festive season is the last thing she wants to endure when down in the dumps. Caleb, the guy who broke her heart years ago, is also feeling grumpy. Insert little Christmas elves, Arden and Grandma Louise, who courier letters between Ho Ho No and Resting Scrooge Face to convince them love and the Christmas vibe is very much alive. I suggest everybody runs to read this joyful little novella this holiday season!
