I just live this Christmas short story about second chances. I just love Nola and Caleb! What a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit!!
LOVED this one by Meghan Quinn! I love that it was based around Christmas and the holidays. I also love how it was a short story. It gave you that “Meghan Quinn fix” while waiting for her to release other books. Great book!
Tis the season to read holiday romances 🎄
I just finished Resting Scrooge Face and it was such a delight! & I love an indie romance author because we all need to #readmoreindieromance !
I enjoyed that it was a short story/novella that put me in the holiday spirit in record time! If you’re a fan of You’ve Got Mail, I think you’ll enjoy it!
Resting Scrooge Face is my first Meghan Quinn read. This was s horrible story and less steamy than I’ve heard her books to be. As a short, I really enjoyed! Quinn wrote this really well and hit all of the points! I didn’t find there was anything excess or unnecessary to the story.
After this, I am looking forward to reading more of Meghan Quinn’s books in the future! I recommend this one if you are in the need for a bit of Christmas (in the summer) cheer!
Short, sweet and to the point. I enjoyed the Port Snow mentions and enjoyed the penpals aspect to the story. I know it was a novella but I would have liked a bit more but it was still enjoyable
Cute. Quick. Holiday Romance. I will probably add this to my Christmas TBR. I enjoyed the story, pace and characters.
4 stars.
Nola and Caleb was previously a couple but they part way due to lack of communication. Now, Nola was dumped by her boyfriend and move back to her hometown to stay at her parent’s home and restore it. Caleb now runs his hardware store, is feeling lonely and frustrated. His feeling is expressed in his writing which he refer himself as Resting Scrooge Face. With the mailman’s help, both Nola and Caleb become pen pals without knowing who they are writing to, with Nola signing off as Ho Ho No. This a delightful read to me with short story of regrets, pride and love.

A holiday novella you’ll absolutely love! Meghan Quinn does a marvelous job of infusing Christmas spirit with a second chance romance.
This was not my favourite Meghan Quinn. I also want to note that I had not read the previous books where the characters were introduced. This book was hard for me to follow with the letter writing format and then the the story was over. I connect to a story through the tension built between the two characters and this novella did not have tme to build that tension through interactions and the letters.
If you’re looking for a fast, sweet, and funny holiday romance, look no farther! Grandma Louise and sweet Arden stole the show but Caleb and Nola were still cute ( just not as cute as the sweet elderly folk 😂 )
There was no spice in this one, but don’t worry, there are some mistletoe kisses!
Read if you like:
-Secret letters
-Small towns
-Second chance
-Christmas cheer
-Meddling towns people
The banter in this one is 100% and I loved how it went from a dual POV story to their back and forth letters then to their actual in-person conversation so you felt like you were following along in real time with the characters. It was a really neat concept!
This was a great, quick second-chance romance that left me laughing and swooning at the same time! Definitely recommend!
Thank you for @netgally for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This was a delightful holiday romance that I blew through in one setting. The small Maine town, and former high school sweethearts made a sweet story that was sucked me in, even if it was a little predictable. I enjoyed the secondary characters, Grandma Louise, and Arden the town postman as well.
Meghan Quinn does it again with this light hearted Christmas Novella. Resting Scrooge Face is a quick read and perfect for the holiday season. It has her signature wit and humor throughout following holiday haters Nola and Caleb as they reconnect and find their holiday spirit through a series of penpal letters they each start receiving. This novel gave off “Luke & Lorelei” vibes to me and transported me to Stars Hollow for a good clean romance.
What a fun cute story. Kinda reminded me of the funny Hallmark Christmas movies. As Caleb and Nola have both lost their Christmas spirit, anonymous letters bring them back to Christmas and each other. I really liked both main characters and enjoyed getting to know them, which is hard to do in a short story, so kudos to Ms. Quinn. This is the first anything of hers that I have read and I will definitely be checking out her other books.
I loved this book and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I was hooked from the very first page. This a was light, sweet, holiday romance story with a some spice and heat.
Fabulous holidays read! Nola’s gran stole the show for me. It definitely put me in the Christmas mood.
Quick and pleasant read for all!
Super quick, borderline cheese fest. Overall an ok holiday romance that isn’t super memorable but entertained me
Meghan Quinn's Resting Scrooge Face is a short and sweet second-chance novella that will make Hallmark holiday movie lovers rejoice!
High school sweethearts, broken hearts, matchmaking and meddling relatives, anonymous pen pals, and holiday-hating all come together to make a cute short story. It's You've Got Mail meets every bah-humbug Christmas movie.
I mentioned that it is short and sweet, but it feels a little too short, and the ending/reconciliation feels rushed. I loved the epistolary aspects of the story, where the banter is amazing. I would definitely read this again if it were extended into a long-form novel.
I’m really not the target audience for this kind of book because I’m not into Romances. But I do like Christmas books, so I gave this a whirl.
There’s nothing here that you haven’t seen in a hallmark movie or a Christmas romance before, and it’s not an exceptional version of any of those things either.
However, it has some cute humor, some atmosphere, and is blessedly free of overwrought, schmaltzy stuff. It’s more cute and sweet than truly romantic, and it’s blessedly short, which is great for someone like me who struggles with this genre.
I ended up feeling like it was more of a cute holiday story than a true Romance, which I consider a positive.
Such a cute novella to get you into the Christmas spirit. Small town second chance romance story that feels like the perfect Hallmark movie. Childhood best friends, sweethearts break up but find them back in same small town years later. Nola returns to her hometown to fix up her parents house. She’s worried, nervous and scared to run into her ex that breakup did not end on good terms. Caleb has taken over his dad’s hardware store so Nola is bound to run into him at some point during her home renovations. A quick read that can be enjoyed by the Christmas tree and leave you will all the joyful holiday feels. Many thanks to NetGalley for the ebook. All opinions expressed in this review are my own
