Do you have some holiday angst?? Then this is just what you need. If your not ready for Christmas cheer you might want to read this delightful novel. I’m very picky about novellas because some done deliver the shirt satisfying read I’m looking for. But this was great. I had the full experience of the romance and Christmas cheer. I highly recommend this for anyone whose looking for a quick Christmas read.
Thanks NetGalley for this gift.
This wasn’t it for me. I don’t want to write a drawn out review for something I didn’t like very well but ultimately I found it too cloying and honestly, a little forced.

“It’s weird what a simple letter can do to a person. An interaction with another human who possesses the same feelings as you when you’re surrounded by nothing but the opposite. I don’t know who Ho Ho No is, but I will say this—she’s helped make me forget about my holiday angst, about my mistakes, and most certainly about my regrets.”
This was such a sweet little rom-com novella. It put me right into the holiday spirit and I devoured it in one sitting, feeling like I was walking into a Hallmark movie.
Nola and Caleb broke up on Christmas Eve, going their separate ways and cementing their dislike for the holiday spirit. Years later, when a nosy elf (or two) intervenes after Nola returns to quaint, little Bright Harbor, they find themselves unknowing pen pals and have a new chance to bring each other from the Scrooge-fog they’ve settled into.
This had the perfect amount of angst, second chance action, and witty banter to warm my heart and was a perfect first read for this holiday season.
Both hating Christmas, exes Nola and Caleb are stuck in their grumpiness while the whole town revels in Christmas cheer, and every time they see each other in town, it doesn't end up well. The only thing that can bring them happiness are their secret letters. Too bad they don't know that the letters are from each other.
This was a really cute, funny novella. This was my first Meghan Quinn novel and for sure it will not be my last! I love the townspeople (I also love saying townspeople). Quirky townspeople just get me! The letters were freaking adorable, and having the dual POV was amazing. Totally charming overall.
And I know it was a novella, but I wish there was more! I needed more everything. This would have been a wonderful full story, but I will take what I can get with this because honestly it was really lovely!
If you want a short, cute Christmas story that is guaranteed to make you laugh (scout's honor), check this one out!
A cute short story that gets you in the feels for the holiday. Can a tough breakup and several years apart keep Nola and Caleb from finding their way back to each other after a meddling Grandma and local postman try playing cupids arrow? Will they be able to reveal the truth about their break up several years ago and forgive one another for the past. You will have to read this mind blowing gem to hear their heartwarming story. You won’t be disappointed. Would love to have seen a complete movie in the future.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC! It was the perfect holiday novella - short, sweet and feel-good. It had me cackling and was just so stinkin' cute. I didn't realise it was Ryots sister (from Untying The Knot) before going in so that was such a nice surprise. Loved it! Meghan Quinn you're insane woman 👏
3 Stars This was a very short and sweet Christmas novella featuring a character from another Meghan Quinn book. It was cute seeing Nola, the older sister of Ryot and Banner from Untying the Knot, back in their hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine, where she runs into the boy who broke her heart, Caleb. Nola and Caleb begin exchanging letters but don’t know who is on the other end of them, thanks for the meddling mailman, Arden. This was very cute and had a perfect Christmas Eve ending.
A great novella to get you in the holiday spirit, especially if you're not a fan of this time of year. Meghan Quinn always provides a great escape with humor and characters that will capture your heart. This book gave off strong You've Got Mail vibes and I'll be adding it to my holiday book list every winter!
Cute but generic. The concept was good but it was too short to really get to know the characters other than Nola being a brat or for there to be any character development at all. If you have Amazon account and an hour to spare maybe it’s worth it but there are better stories out there.
Cute little Christmas diddy! This is a short read, taking only about 1-2 hours to read. There is no sexual content, so safe for teens and up. The Heroine is a side character in Untying the Knot, so you may recognize the name. As far as I can remember, the Hero is new to us readers. The two had broken up many years ago, when she left their small town to head to the big city. Now, some undisclosed amount of time later, she's back in that small town, and just trying to get through the Christmas holiday without running into him. Of course that ain't going to happen. When he sees her for the first time since she left, his self loathing takes over and reacts poorly. He's regretted breaking up with her, but knows he did for her sake. With some secret pen palling and a couple of meddling old folks, maybe there is hope for them again. As I mentioned, this is a quick read, so it doesn't go into too much detail or get too in depth with the characters, but you get enough to like them both. There are some laughs along the way as well. It's a light-hearted read, perfect for a cozy evening read, curled up by the fire.
* I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley.
This was a cute story for Nola. I adored Caleb; and of course Arden and Grandma Louise.
This actually put me in the Christmas book spirit!!!
The only downside of it…..it was too short!!!
If you're looking for a super cute, short holiday novella to read this Christmas season I would definitely recommend checking this one out! Less than 50 pages, Meaghan Quinn manages to write a holiday romance about Nola and Caleb, who write each other anonymous Christmas letters through a meddling mailman, as the pen names Ho-H0-No and Resting Scrooge Face.
I loved all the cute stories from their past, and how they were able to learn to love Christmas and reconcile past mistakes in this perfect length novella. From hilarious mishaps to meddling side characters this novella had me laughing out loud. An easy 4 star read for me.
Thank you Net Galley for this ARC.
Such a cute holiday Novella! I love Meghan’s books and this one was no exception. This is a perfect quick read for the winter time.

What a cute short story! I really enjoyed this one. It took about an hour and a half to read and was filled with lots of Christmas elements.
Caleb, writes a note about how he despises the Christmas season and throws it in the trash. When one of the locals decides to grab the letter from the trash and deliver it to someone he knows is also going through a hard season, they become anonymous penpals.
This one reminded me a lot of You’ve Got Mail, which I loved. Definitely some ba-hum-bug vibes as well.
I definitely recommend this one for a short read that has holiday elements, some laughs & a cute story! This was the first story by Meghan Quinn that I read that had zero spicy elements, compared to a lot of her other books, which was a nice change to get someone in the holiday spirit and to showcase her overall talent!
Thanks netgalley and Amazon original stories for the ARC! You can read this one when it is published on November 28th, but add it to your want to read shelf immediately!
This was a fun and quick read to curl up with. I sat down and read this on one of the first really cold nights of the season and had a swoony and fun time. I can always count on Meghan Quinn to bring the laughs and get me into the holiday season.
This is what Hallmark movies are made of! This is a second chance romance that will definitely put a smile on your face. Perfect holiday kick off novella!!
I received this arc from NetGalley in an exchange for an honest review. Thank you NetGalley and Meghan Quinn for the opportunity to read this gem.
This was a really sweet, super quick festive read that I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend!
Thank you to Netgalley and Meghan Quinn for the arc.
A clean Christmas romance isn't my usual type of read, but what the heck... I was feeling somewhat festive and in need of a pick me up, and this certainly fit the bill. Resting Scrooge Face is a cute little story about a pair of ex-lovers exchanging penpal letters, only they have no idea who is on the other end of the pen and stationary. See, Nola is back in town and doing everything to avoid Cade. Unbeknownst to either of them, the elderly mailman who's friends with Cade sneaks one of Cade's letters into her mailbox and then acts as a secret go-between. I couldn't help but question Arden's oath as a postal carrier, given his fervent commission of mail fraud, but it's all in the name of Christmas love, so I guess that's OK. This is basically a Hallmark Christmas movie in prose form, and sometimes you just need that kind of stuff to make your soul feel a tad bit better. It's a quick, quirky read that doesn't overstay it's welcome and isn't the least bit mentally taxing, and the characters are pretty fun and amusing, even if they don't have a whole lot of depth. I doubt I could have read a novel-length version of this story, but as a novella it's actually pretty fun!
Two people who dislike Christmas, mysterious letters, and old flames back in town. Nola is fresh from a bad breakup and has decided to return to her quaint hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine to renovate her parent’s old home and to spend time with her grandmother. The only issue is that Bright Harbor is infuriatingly charming and cheery, and it is making her mood worsen and worsen. It doesn’t help that Caleb, the boy who broke her heart years ago, is still living in town and she knows she’ll end up running into him eventually. She wants nothing more than to avoid him, yet while doing so, she runs into the local mailman who gives her a mysterious letter who just happens to be a fellow Scrooge and so begins a fun pen pal relationship....
Caleb dislikes Christmas, from the cheery couples to the cookies and music... but most of all he hasn’t been the same since he broke up with Nola. He’s regretted it ever since.. but when he finds out she’s back in town... this might be his chance to fix things, if only his pride didn’t get in the way and if only they weren’t constantly fighting every time they talk to each other.
Can Caleb and Nola get over their past ghosts or will this pen pal relationship fizzle out... or can they write their own love story? This was such a cute second chance romance Christmas read. Nola and Caleb were a cute couple and the story was perfectly wrapped up! Definitely give it a read this holiday season!
*Thanks Netgalley and Amazon Original Stories for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
When you're having a bad day & you pick up a new book that puts you into an instant happy mood>>
This short story is like drinking a warm cup of hot chocolate on a snowy morning. It's all the warm and fuzzy feelings you feel during the holiday season. It's pure joy.
The relationship between Nola and Caleb is absolutely hilarious. The situation that the pair put themselves into is instant comedic relief that I love in a romance.
And I mean....how can I hate two characters that are Harry Potter fans??
Thank you Amazon Original Stories and Meghan Quinn for the advanced reader copy of this absolute adorable holiday story. After reading this sweet story, I will be checking out more of Meghan Quinn's romance novels in the future.
