Nola flees New York City and back to her small hometown in Maine in the aftermath of a bad break up, but her town’s cheery Christmas spirit is not the thing she is looking forward to this holiday season. Nola’s luck only seems to worsen when she runs into Caleb, the boy who broke her heart years ago. However, Nola receives an anonymous letter addressed to Christmas by someone with a similar outlook on the holiday season as hers and addresses himself as “Resting Scrooge Face”. Nola and Resting Scrooge Face continue their banter through correspondence as she identifies herself as “Ho Ho No” on her end to remain anonymous as well. The more time she spends around Caleb and the more time she spends writing to her fellow scrooge pen pal, she begins to realize things are not always as they seam and the key to her happiness could be right in front of her.

This was a super cute holiday novella that warmed my heart. It was VERY quick but flowed effortlessly and was packed with Christmas spirit. I loved the banter between Nola and Caleb and how their story comes full circle. The dialogue was great and the story was sprinkled with humor throughout and even a little Christmas magic. I have actually never read any books by this author before but she is now on my list! This book was a perfect taste into her writing style and I really enjoyed it! This story is perfect for those in the mood for a quick holiday second chance romance. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this novella in exchange for my honest review. This title is now available for purchase or free with Kindle Unlimited!
A cute and very quick Christmas read. While enjoyable it was too short to develop the characters and had a predictable plot. I liked it but will not be reading it again next holiday season.
Resting Scrooge Face was a wonderful read featuring a second chance romance during the holidays.
After returning to her hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine after a bad breakup, Nola wants nothing to do with the holidays. She's simply in no mood to be festive or cheery. And to make matters worse, Caleb, the boy who broke her heart, is still living in town. When the local mailman gives her an anonymous letter from a fellow Scrooge, Nola can't help but feel her mood improving. She quickly writes back to her new pen pal who, unbeknownst to Nola, is none other than Caleb. It doesn't take long for the pair's correspondence to take a flirtatious turn. Nola and Caleb claim they can't stand each other, but their letters tell a different story.
The set-up for Resting Scrooge Face immediately intrigued me as it sounded like a really fun premise for a romance. Plus it had minor You've Got Mail vibes with the letters which is a favorite movie of mine, so I was excited to pick this one up. Nola and Caleb dated in high school but their relationship didn't work out as Nola wanted to leave their small town but Caleb didn't. Now that Nola is back in town, she doesn't know how to face Caleb so her plan is to just avoid him as long as possible which was so relatable. When the local mailman gives Nola the first letter, she's intrigued and can't help but write back. The letters themselves are a ton of fun to read and I enjoyed the banter in them. Outside of the letters Nola and Caleb have a few interactions that make it clear that they both have lingering feelings for each other. I was happy with the way the reveal went about them being the authors of the letters. And I thought the final scene of two together was very well done and perfectly fit their romance.
Overall Resting Scrooge Face was a cute read and I would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a quick, fun holiday romance.
This was a short and sweet holiday read. i love this author, she writes fun and light hearted stories that always lift my mood. If you like Hallmark movies you’ll love this book.
I loved this cute little novella that gave me all the holiday feels!
When Nola is back in her hometown, she was not in a festive mood due to a breakup. And then we have Caleb, who broke her heart years ago. When Caleb writes an anonymous letter, that was not supposed to go in the mail (with thanks to the mailman) it was delivered to Nola. Throughout the novella these letters continued to go back and forth until eventually it brought them back to together.
This was such a cute feel good novella for the holidays

Resting Scrooge Face is a fun and quick holiday novella that’s perfect for the season. Meghan Quinn managed to develop a romance that was tension filled and sweet, despite the short length. Caleb and Nola are both likable and I thought the concept of getting them back together with anonymous letters was fun. I do think this got a little cringe at times, like when they wrote things like “*winces*” in the letters. It read more YA than adult and like the author was trying to hard to make them quirky. Still, I liked this and think it’s cute and fun holiday read.
I enjoyed this short Christmas story by Meghan Quinn. Nola and Caleb had broken up years prior when Nola moved to the city. Nola moved back to the same town as Caleb.l and both were trying to avoid each other. I thought the Scrooge letters they wrote to each other were a cute way for them to connect. I didn’t find there was enough connection between the two though after they figured out they were writing to each other. Overall it was a cute story that was fun to read before Christmas!
Christmas vibes!! I love anything that includes Christmas. It puts me in a great mood. But when two people have the same bitter taste about Christmas but also have a past together what does the future hold? Love Meghan Quinn books!
This novella was really cute! It was a nice little second chance/enemies to lovers romance and I loved the concept that these two were so against Christmas in the beginning and writing back and forth to each other. I loved seeing them get more and more flirty as the letters kept going. My favorite characters though were Arden and Grandma Louise 😂 Grandma Louise very much reminded me of my own grandmother and those two just cracked me up!
If you are looking for a quick, sweet novella to maybe round out your Goodreads year, I definitely recommend this one!
This was a really cute Christmas read. I loved the last letter.
It was short and sweet.
Nola and Caleb were cute…as were the elders. Lol.
I also enjoyed how everything came together at the end.
I definitely recommend this one.
I really enjoyed this quick holiday novella.
It’s a second chance romance, I loved the banter and the chemistry between them.
This is the first book i read by this author and I’m definitely going to read more of her works.
This was a quick Christmas pen pal trope novella. This was a second-chance romance between two exs during the holidays in their home town of Bright Harbor, Maine. Overall I enjoyed it but I wish the story had more depth and length.
This was a cute, quick short read. It def made me laugh when they were exchanging letters back and forth. Good banter. Good chemistry. Overall impressed!
This was a fast, festive read about Nola and Caleb, former lovers who reconnect in their small town. Both of them hate Christmas, and the town mailman orchestrates a pen pal relationship between the two to try to get them back together, unbeknownst to neither of them.
Reading vibes:
❤️ tropes: enemies to lovers, second chance romance, grumpy x grumpy

What a great way to meet my Goodreads Reading Challenge for 2022! If you’re just a couple books away from finishing, this would be a good one to squeeze in. It took me about an hour to finish the entire thing!
This was a quick cute small town holiday read. I would have liked a bit more in depth look into the characters and their past but I loved the short novella like book.
This is a short fast enemies to lovers, second chance, holiday romance. The banter is mainly through letters and is sweet and funny. The secondary characters are entertaining and likable.
This is a really cute holiday read.
Nola is back in her hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine trying in vain to ignore Caleb, the ex-love of her life. This is a quick, adorable read about two people who aren’t feeling very festive this year until the two unknowingly become pen pals and suddenly they are thinking that Christmas may not be so bad this year after all. Very cute.
Meghan Quinn did not disappoint with this holiday novella! Wow! I loved every minute of this book. I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting! A cute holiday romance to recommend to all my friends! 5 stars!
Resting Scrooge Face is basically a Hallmark movie in book form, and I loved it! It's very tropey (mistaken identity, second chance Romance), but Meghan Quinn made it work wonderfully.
Even though this plot isn't very original, it still felt unique. And i absolutely adored Grandma! This is a fantastic, quick holiday read!
