⭐⭐⭐⭐ the story was very cute and short and creative. This was my first book by the author so I am curious if the couple has shown up elsewhere.
Oh this was such a sweet Christmas story I loved it so
Much, I wish it was a full book!! We have Nola who left Maine 10 years ago, Leaving behind her ex Caleb who wouldn’t go with her. Years later she has had lots of heartbreak and is back in her home town. She is not feeling the Christmas spirit at all, and that is hard to with the town being a Christmas wonderland. Than we have Caleb who also isn’t feeling the Christmas spirt either, and he writes a letter signing it as resting Scrooge face and think he throws it in the garbage but the sneaky old mail man gets it and gives it Nola and they write back and forth not knowing it’s each other. They had great banter and I loved the letters and the ending was so sweet! Like I said I wish this was a full book!
I love Meghan Quinn because she combines emotion with humor, but she can rip your heart out. Thankfully that doesn't happen with this book. I'd consider this a light-hearted comedy and a quick read. Nola and Caleb had a history, so this is them finding their way back to each other. Definitely a cute Christmas read and I recommend it.
While this is definitely a quick holiday read to get you in the mood, it could have done with a little more background information on the main characters Caleb and Nola. You are thrust into their lives post break up many years after they date with very little context clues other than they were high school sweethearts and broke up when Nola wanted to move to NYC and Caleb wanted to stay in their small home town in Maine to take over his dads hardware store.
The concept was cute as they send letters back and forth without knowing it’s to each other after Nola moves back from NYC years later after breaking up with her boyfriend. The side characters, Arden and Grandma Louise, are adorable and set a great comedic relief while being the mischievous masterminds trying to get them back together.
Overall, if you need to add another quick book to your December reads, this short story will do the trick. Just don’t expect too much! Hallmark would eat this up though!
Thank you Netgalley and Amazon for this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this short story, my only complaint is that it wasn’t long enough!! I need more of Caleb & Nola!
Resting Scrooge Face is the perfect short story to get into the holiday spirit! Intertwined with some of Meghan Quinn’s biggest hits and fan favorite characters - this book is heartwarming, hilarious and full of Christmas magic.
Thank you to NetGalley and Amazon Original Stories for the complementary copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was such a cute, fun, and cozy little novella. I loved the second chance romance aspect, the letter writing, and quirky little side characters. I would absolutely read a full novel featuring these two characters.
First official read of the holiday season and it was the cutest, most fun little novella. Short and 100% sweet!
Definitely had some laugh out loud moments, and some swoony moments. Arden and Grandma Louise stole the show for me! Highly recommend adding it to your holiday tbrs, the perfect little Christmas snack! 💌🎄

ah what a refreshing way to start off the holiday reads. such a cute, christmasy, novella 🤍
if you’re looking for a fast, sweet, and funny holiday romance, look no farther! Grandma Louise and sweet Arden stole the show but Caleb and Nola were still cute ( just not as cute as the sweet elderly folk 😂 )
not going to lie, a little surprised that there was no spice in this one, but don’t worry, there are some mistletoe kisses!

Thank you to NetGalley for this Arc In exchange for an honest review. This is a really adorable short story. I would recommend reading this right on Christmas Eve!! The banter between the couple was too tier as it always is with Meghan Quinn. This is a very cute but short second chance romance that any romance addict should try out this month!
Ok that was cute. Secret pen pal has been and will always be my favorite trope. This had the bonus of also being second chance. I love reading holiday themed romances and novellas during their respective holiday and this one totally fit the bill.
I absolutely loved this Christmas novella! I feel like novellas can be difficult to do well. Even though it's a shorter book I still want to get a complete story with interesting characters and relationship development.
Meghan Quinn did an excellent job with this second chance romance. It has a bit of a You've Got Mail set up with Nola and Caleb writing letters but they don't know it's to each other. I really liked them individually and as a couple. It was sweet to see them get back together.
If you have read some of Meghan's other books there are a few callbacks/references you'll catch. However, this can be read as a standalone and new readers won't be lost. If you are looking for a quick, fun read I highly recommend picking this up!
The perfect holiday story! Short, sweet and oh, so charming. I just loved this so much and the epistolary part of the story works so well for a Christmas romance.
Meghan Quinn doesn't disappoint and getting a little peak back into Port Snow was amazing!
Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Resting Scrooge Face is a standalone Christmas romance by Meghan Quinn. This short story definitely brought a smile to my face. There were times I couldn't help but laugh to myself (and hope no one around me noticed)!
This feel good book is a must read for the holiday season! Great characters, a cute story, secret pen pals, and a second chance romance make for a wonderful holiday book! I absolutely loved it!!!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Resting Scrooge Face follows Nola who after a bad breakup moves back to her hometown. But to make matters worse her ex Caleb still lives in the town. Nola wants nothing to do with him and tries her best to avoid him. Nola is also not the biggest fan of Christmas. One the mailman gives Nola a letter from someone that also hates Christmas. The two end up becoming pen pals and share their hate for Christmas. But soon the letters get pretty flirty. Soon Caleb finds that Nola is his pen pal and he realizes he still loves her, and will fight to get her back.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I think it will be my last. I found this story very generic and frankly a little boring. I am happy that it was so short because I could not stand these characters. The characters were lovers at one point and got back together. But I felt zero chemistry between the two of them. Also the Harry Potter references like ummm probably not a good idea to put those in a book written in 2022. I did like the small town Christmas vibes. But other than that this book was just not for me.
Thank you NetGalley, Amazon Short Stories, and Meghan Quinn for the ARC of this book all opinions are my own.
This sweet, Christmas themed short story was the perfect way to kick off December! In just 50 pages the brilliant Meghan Quinn managed to squeeze in a cute second chance love story with a tons of Christmas spirit, a whacky grandmother and even character development.
If you're looking for a light and humourous love story to get you in the Christmas mood, this is it.
I'm not normally a huge fan of novellas, but it's Meghan Quinn so obviously I was gonna read it. I had no idea that it's a mini spin-off from the Getting Lucky series so that was a fun surprise. This hit all the boxes for me for a Christmas Novella. Cute, humorous, heartfelt, plenty of holiday cheer. It felt like a complete story in only 80 pages. I wasn't left feeling deprived of a true ending or wishing I had more to feel connected to the characters.
Dear Christmas,
I despise you."
This was the perfect start to my holiday reading. It was a light, quck read. I found myself chuckling at points and swooning at others. Even though it's short, I felt the characters were well flushed out - even the side characters of the mailman and the grandma! I loved the letters and how cute they were - first, all grumpy about Christmas and then as they slowly thawed. This was so cute! I'm so glad I started my December with this one!
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
This was such a good, short story.
Sometimes I struggle to really connect with characters in a novella but this one was really descriptive. I definitely felt like I was in a Hallmark movie.
I read this and also listened to it on audiobook and the narration was fantastic.
There is almost nothing I love more than sneaky, meddling relatives and friends and Meghan writes them so brilliantly. It was also nice to revisit Port Snow.
This story is a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
Resting Scrooge Face is a perfect little Christmas bon bon. A second chance for Caleb and Nola, to the background of the Christmas season. All the trademark Meghan humor in a small package. I would totally have read an expanded version to get more of these two, but I loved every minute of this story.
