This book has been a great reading experience. Thanks to the author and the publisher for bringing this book to life.
The one thing that's the most compelling part of this book is really naming microstress and the fact we normalized the accumulation of stressors. The added or maybe even scarier part of this book is that we don't see the accumulation as an actual problem. This is emotional damage and has a toll. I really wish there was more focus on tools beyond being resilient or managing your time. Other than I think it's a great resource.
I really liked the book. I learned a lot of things that are not enough known, and I think we should all learn about that
When little things compound, they add up, especially when it comes to stress. Rather than dig in and harden your response to microstress, the research described in this book paints a more holistic view—it's our authentic connections with others and the varied relationships we build that make all the difference.
I really enjoyed this read. It reminded me of the discussions around small habits and how they can impact us but that small “micro” stresses can impact us. It made me think how I definitely have micro stresses. I have worked on them getting better but there are still some that I could be dealing with better. I recommend to anyone and everyone, not just those who work in a corporate setting.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy to honestly review.
This is a tough one, because I enjoyed the writing voice and some aspects of the approach, but the book rang of a corporate psychologists' take or pamphlet, and seemed like a topic handled a bit more shallowly than I would have preferred. There is some good information here, but it presupposes an anxiety (fair enough with the title and direction) and is so broad as to be almost directionless despite a thoughtful layout.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced digital copy.
