Iris has always been the odd one out of her family. When her great-aunt dies and leaves her the Victorian home she owned, Iris sees it as a way to get on her feet and start over. When she rents the house, Eli becomes one of her tenants. Eli and Iris have history that Iris doesn't recall, and Eli will never forget. As they start working together on the house, Eli and Iris start developing feelings for each other, but will their romance survive the secrets and the past they didn't know about? It was a fun, magical romance in an overlapping setting as the Fix-It Witches series.

Another great addition to this series from Ann Aguire. I really like how all the new characters interact with the main characters from her previous novels so you feel like their stories are still going.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review.

I was disappointed with this one. I found it really didn't fit with the rest of the series at all. I'd almost have thought it was written by a different author. The romance was lacklustre and on a different heat level than the rest of the series. The one saving grace was the found family of the various characters. This would have been better marketed as a spin off instead of part of the same series.

I’ve read another Ann Aguirre books that was hands down one of the best books I’ve read. I, however, really disliked this book. The prose was delightful and initially I enjoyed the book just because I enjoy reading Aguirre’s writing so much. But both characters were insufferable in their own ways and there was no chemistry or really anything that made sense about the romance.

All in all I very much disliked this book but would give Aguirre another chance because her writing style is truly lovely.

Iris Collins is the self-proclaimed "chaos bunny" of her family, grappling with debt to her roomates and a financial hole she can't dig out of – a stark contrast to her successful sisters. When she inherits her great aunt's house, Iris tries to transform it into a B&B – but her plans unsurprisingly go awry. She ends up renting rooms to an eclectic mix of individuals, discovering that not all of her tenants are strictly "human." This is a bit of a silly but fun read, and the cover totally drew me in.

the story is good with a lite plot and absolutely the characters itself are a good combination. I really love this especially the cover

Violet Gables is the place to be! This was such a heartfelt story full of found family moments and raw vulnerability. But there was also deeper moments filled with family and financial hardships and struggling to fit it. My heart was so heavy for Iris but slowly grew happier when she found all the support she needed and deserved. I wasn’t a fan on Eli, but the rest of the residence of Violet Gables had my heart! Sally, Mira, Rowan, and Henry Dale!!! And points for the LGBTQ+ rep! The paranormal aspect didn’t play a huge role and I probably would have enjoyed it more without it, but it still enjoyable. It’s a great cozy read for spooky season!

The Only Purple House in Town is a story full of supernatural beings with cozy elements. Found family is my favorite trope ever and I am incredibly happy that it was part of this story. I recommend this if you are looking for a cozy, low-stakes story that is full of romance and lovable characters.

This book was super cute!! Not my favorite of the Fix It Witches series. I did enjoy how everyone in the house did become “family” I love when that happens in books and real life.

Iris inherits a house from her late Aunt, and her chaotic life hopefully has an end. She finds a few roommates to share the house expenses, and instead, she builds her own found family!

I wish I had read and reviewed this in time to recommend for spooky season! This was such a cute witchy read, y'all! As per usual, (I don't know how to spell the slang of usual. You know, like the cool kids say it right?) I listened to about half the book and listened to half to see which I recommend. I really enjoyed both, but I think the audio was really great!

This book was light and easy to read. The only part that might be heavy and this might be a spoiler so **spoiler alert** Iris found out her family really isn't her biological family.

Read This Book If:
the found family trope is one you enjoy
you enjoy HEA
you want a cute witchy read

Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of The Only Purple House In Town! When I started reading this book, I didn’t realize that this was the 4th book in the Fix-It Witches series, so it was so nice to see little cameos from familiar characters in the book!
The Only Purple House In Town 4/5 Stars
Summary from Goodreads: Iris Collins is the messy one in her family. The "chaos bunny." Her sisters are all wildly successful, while she can't balance her budget for a single month. It's no wonder she's in debt to her roommates. When she unexpectedly inherits a house from her great aunt, her plan to turn it into a B&B fails—as most of her plans do. She winds up renting rooms like a Victorian spinster, collecting other lost souls...and not all of them are "human."
Eli Reese grew up as the nerdy outcast in school, but he got rich designing apps. Now he's successful by any standards. But he's never had the same luck in finding a real community or people who understand him. Over the years, he's never forgotten his first crush, so when he spots her at a café, he takes it as a sign. Except then he gets sucked into the Iris-verse and somehow ends up renting one of her B&B rooms. As the days pass, Eli grows enchanted by the misfit boarders staying in the house...and even more so by Iris. Could Eli have finally found a person and a place to call "home"?
The Only Purple House In Town was super cute! I really enjoyed all of the characters- Iris was adorable and I really liked Eli (even though he did have a few, mildly stalker-ish tendencies in him). The whole concept of the B&B turned boarding house for people who need rooms was great and I really liked all of the people who ended up staying in the house. The whole twist with where Iris came from/who her parents were was a little odd/from left field, but was for sure an interesting twist to the book- I haven’t read the 3rd Fix-It Witches book, so maybe if I had, that may not have been so out there for me? Who knows. Overall though, The Only Purple House In Town was a fun, quick read and I definitely enjoyed it!

I sadly had to DNF this one. I adore Ann Aguirre however, this trope bothered me, and I was unable to finish it. I felt the MC was very stalky and I couldn't get over it.

This was the perfect cozy fantasy romance for me. I read this while it was 40 degrees out, which definitely added to the ambiance the author created. The part that I appreciated the most was that while it did have fantasy and romance elements, there was such a strong focus on found family. Every person who moved into the purple house had an amazing personality and was just the right fit for the main characters, Iris and Eli. This story hooked me from the first chapter and I could not put it down until I finished. I would highly recommend this book to all my cozy fantasy friends who also like a touch of romance.

I’m sorry I had to DNF this book.

It doesn’t make sense to me why they need to have magical abilities but those elements did not have any importance in the story. The story could go well without those elements included in it. I tried to find the purpose but it just not it. Maybe if I read the other book in the series I would understand it better? Maybe. But still with reading the couple first chapters I feel like the story is raw.

Maybe if I’m ready enough I would pick it ul again but for now this is my honest review.

Very fun and spooky and charming all at the same time. Love a house-driven story with ghosts, and a quirky main character just trying to figure herself out!

I tried to read this one, but i did not liked how much a stalker the male character is. He made me feel uncomfortable so i could not continue this book. Maybe some other time.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

This is a cute found family book that takes place in the same world as the Fix-It Witches, but it definitely works as a standalone book. I didn’t realize until well into the book how they were interconnected, and I appreciate that. There were parts about it that concern me a little, but I think that they were mostly trope aspects I am not a fan of. For example, I kind of hate the miscommunication trope and Eli fed into that a bit by not just explaining himself, which started to border on creepy. I appreciate how Iris is quirky and willing to stand up for herself, it just took a minute to get her life in order. Overall it was a fine book, not my favorite by Ann, but definitely an enjoyable escape.

The Only Purple House in Town by Ann Aguirre is a delightful story about a young girl by the name of Liana. She loves lived in a town known to have a variety of different colored houses except for one unique house - the Purple House. As Liana discovers her newfound love of color, she also begin to explore the beauty of the town's houses and learns that each house has its own story to tell.

Written with an extraordinary style and keen attention to detail, Ann Aguirre has managed to create a thoroughly refreshing and engaging tale suited for children of all ages. For example, instead of delving into how Liana's passion for color has blossomed, the book uses a highly creative format by pitching her appreciation against the mundane rules of the conservative town she lives in. Using a unique illustration style, the reader is transported into the everyday life of Liana as we observe her newfound love of color and how the townsfolk react to it.

Though the symbolism throughout the story is subtle, its inclusion is a tool that really heightens the narrative as Liana, and the reader, come to realise the importance of expressing your own personal identity. As she grows to love her unique purple house, Liana also comes to realise that despite the rules of the town, it's important for everyone to stay true to their own identity and creativity.

Furthermore, the book also offers a clear message of acceptance and understanding, not only in terms of Liana's newfound appreciation for color but also of the resident's of the town that initially oppose Liana's Purple House. Overall, this book is a must-read for any young reader seeking a gentle read full of colour, music and true heart.

What stands out most from this book is its remarkable writing style. Aguirre succeeds in transporting the reader into the world of Liana while teaching young readers a valuable lesson about individuality and self-expression. With an exemplary writing style and immaculate attention to detail, The Only Purple House in Town is a timeless, delightful story that children of all ages won't be able to put down.

Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

I was immediately drawn into this book by the cover and the spooky season vibes. I will say that, while this is a 3.5 star read for me, I still enjoyed it and would recommend for readers who enjoy cozy fall settings and those who liked the 90s show Sabrina the Teenage Witch!

I understood this to be a romance but it feels more like a cozy fantasy with a romance subplot. As for the romance, I didn’t really feel that much of a connection between Iris and Eli- it feels more like infatuation than love to me.

I did get bored in parts but enjoyed the setting, the inclusivity, the characters and their found family. I didn’t realize this is book 4 in a series BUT think it read just fine as a stand-alone.
