The cover of this book instantly made me want to read it, and the supernatural elements and oddball main characters sealed the deal. I LOVED the found family aspect and the abundance of queer characters! Now my new goal is to live in a purple Victorian house.
Iris is a bit down on her luck, especially in the financial department, which I can 100% relate to. However, I was very confused why she didn’t have some sort of job while she got her online jewelry business off the ground instead of having absolutely no income and being so behind with her rent.
I glanced at a couple of reviews before reading and saw that some of the reviewers were really alarmed by Eli’s stalking. While it was a little odd, it seemed like Eli may be neurodivergent and might have hyper fixated on Iris. Like, who hasn’t Facebook stalked people they went to school with or wonder what certain people from their past might be up to? It definitely didn’t excuse his lying, but I don’t totally agree with the “stalker” angle that’s been discussed.
Overall, it was a very quick, easy, and cute read, but a tad too saccharine for me. It would definitely make for a good show on Disney Channel or whichever channel originally aired Full House. I did think it read a bit young, but it’s definitely a great whimsical and fluffy palate cleanser of a book.

I enjoyed this book. It was an interesting read . I found that I was able to read quickly and enjoyed the pacing and premise of the book. I would recommend to others.

It was a good read, but I couldn't care much about the main couple, the secondary characters are all a little more interesting. The part of magic is a very nice touch too, but I felt that this part lacked greater emphasis. Overall, a very enjoyable book with a few things that bugged me, but I think this is more personal. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review!

This was a cute, quick read. I loved the found family aspect and the house of misfits coming together to help each other thrive. I however didn’t love that Eli was literally stalking Iris for the better part of two decades. Lovely cover, decent writing, and most of the other characters were quite likable.

One of my MOST anticipated reads of the year and it didn't disappoint!! I am OBSESSED with this gorgeous purple cover but the story was a lovely, feel-good supernatural romance filled with a quirky cast of paranormals who all come to live in a big purple house Iris has inherited from a distant relative.
Technically this is the fourth book in the Fix-It witches series but it definitely works as a standalone. I loved the found family, the secret pining, the he falls first, dance lessons and curmudgeonly older side characters. Recommended for fans of Sangu Mandanna's The very secret society of irregular witches.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for early digital and audio copies AND for sending me a beautiful finished copy I will cherish.

This was a fun read, very whimsical and full of amazing characters, it kept me entertained and I read it super fast. It's all about how to find your place in the world by surrounding yourself with the right people. The magic elements were on the minimal side, so it kind of feels a bit off sometimes. Also, the mmc obsession was a bit creepy, but not enough to make me uncomfortable. I'm not a big fan of the miscommunication trope, so I was kind of meh about the third act problems, and it all solved too fast for my taste. All in all, if you like the found family and small town trope, you'll probably like this one.

The cover of The Only Purple House in Town is immediately one that caught my eye. I thought it was so cute and decided to give it a try after reading the synopsis. I loved the magic included in the "real" world and the different species of magical creatures. There were Anne of Green Gables references which I will always love and there was an interesting cast of characters that definitely shouted Found Family.
The actual romance of the novel wasn't really interesting. It was very much an attraction that was easy to spot, but once they did get together it was anti-climatic and a little blah. I didn't really feel invested in them at all even though I thought I would. The pivotal relationship "fight" was something that just irritated and kind of made me like the main character even less. It was a situation where the supporting characters had to hold up the MC just to make her interesting.
All in all, there were parts I did enjoy, it was a fast read and unique, but had a lot of pieces that more so irritated me than anything, which isn't an emotion I love to have while reading.

The heroine is the black sheep of her family. With successful siblings and a messy life of her own, the heroine unexpectedly inherits a house that she plans to become as a bed-and-breakfast establishment. When that plan failed, the heroine decided to rent the rooms to people who are lost souls like her. Within this group of misfits is the hero, an outcast with a huge crush on the heroine. As time passed, the group becomes closer, especially the hero and the heroine.
This is the fourth book in the FIX-IT WITCHES series. It features dual perspectives and provides enough information to be a standalone within the series. I liked the cover of the book and enjoyed the found family aspect of the story. There were an eclectic group of characters, including the couple. However, there were certain actions of the hero and the heroine that made them unfavorable in my eyes. The book should also have additional details to make a smoother story. Overall, a nice book of this particular Ann Aguirre series.

If you're looking for a low-stakes, cozy comforting urban fantasy with the found family trope, this book is perfect for you. It was a very relaxing read.

I enjoyed a lot of the aspects of this book, but I usually read for romance and this book really fell flat there for me. I don't need spice, but I do need chemistry and I just didn't find that here.
Romance aside, I really loved the found family aspect and the queer representation and would recommend this story based on those alone.

very sweet and lovely, closed door only, the male lead is a bit of an odd-ball but he is self-aware so it's not terrible.

Good read! I like the story and the characters are interesting and entertaining. More of a light read for me.

This was a super cozy, sweet, low angst read and while I absolutely adored the LGBTQIA+ representation, it overall just fell a little flat for my taste. The premise was great—I love found family and paranormal aspects, but the plot was a little scrambled and I just overall didn’t feel like much happened. The ending also included the dreaded miscommunication trope and really, that’s just a turn off for me in general.
Overall, this really wasn’t the book for me but I do think it has potential and it was by no means bad—there were definitely some moments I enjoyed. If the aforementioned tropes don’t bother you and you’re looking for a cozy read full of low spice, queer rep, found family, and acceptance, then this is definitely worth a shot.

Iris has never really fit in with her family. She was raised by a family of emotional vampires and she has no powers. When she surprisingly inherits her aunts home after her death she makes the quick decision to move and restart her life. Strapped for cash she lists her home for rent and quickly collects a group of people who become her found family.
This is a cute little story. Quick read. East plot line. I’m not sure how I feel about the main love interest being a BIT of a stalker but he ended up being redeemable. I LOVE found family and the collection of roommates was a joy. Read this one if you are looking for a light read that touches on some heavy topics by turning them into magical beings.

I love stories featuring underdogs, a new beginning and people who are on the edge. There's a lot of these elements in this story and there's a sweet and heartwarming novel that made me smile and root for the characters.
I read other books by this author and this one is my favorite: well plotted, tightly knitted and it flows
It would be great to read other stories featuring these characters
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This was a cozy, low angst read about a woman who inherits a house from her aunt and ends up filling it with wonderful people, down on their luck, who end up becoming an amazing and eclectic family.
This book was kind of all over the place. There was a lot going on and yet I didn’t really feel like anything happened. There was a bit of a stalker romance going on with Iris and Eli, conflict with a nasty neighbor, characters discovering that blood is not always thicker than water and don’t forget to throw in some supernaturals and prejudice against them.
The romance felt so secondary to everything else that was going on and I may have felt that way because there was zero spice and not a lot of chemistry between Iris and Eli. I was frustrated by the third act conflict. It was entirely avoidable. Eli knew it would happen and her did nothing to stop it. Miscommunication and lack of communication are one of my least favorite tropes.
I did however loved the queer representation in this book and the acceptance and family that everyone found from each other in Violet Gables.

Perpetually down on her luck Iris thinks she might have finally caught a break when she gets news she’s inherited a house. She has big plans, but needs to rein them in when she sees the condition of said house. New plan - take in people to rent the rooms while she fixes the place up.
Eli is a shifter, seriously considering taking his hawk form for good and not looking back. He’s had success in his financial life, but suffered several personal losses since childhood. Iris might not remember their meeting back in elementary school but she made an impression on him back then that has lasted all these years.
Iris is renting out rooms based on who she thinks needs it the most. Which as a financial decision? Potentially disastrous. The number of deals and discounts, ouch. But in this case it could not have worked out better in the long run.
Eli is the first roomie, mostly by accident on his part, her mistaking him for an applicant in need. We then get to spend most of the story seeing her continue to build the best chosen family, which is awesome because the majority of her “real” family of emotional vampires is the worst. And of course Iris and Eli work towards a relationship, while she’s learning quite a lot about herself along the way.
Once again, I failed to pay attention and found myself dropping in mid series. Like it is with most recent romances though, the series is more interconnected books and it still works without having the background and gives me more books to add to my tbr. Which I will, because I absolutely loved this one.
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC!

I've enjoyed all of the other Fix-It Witches books and I was kind of disappointed by this book. I liked the Eli and Iris as characters, but Eli was a bit more confusing to read and understand, maybe because his shyness/anxiety seemed so debilitating for him.
Iris's backstory with her family was very interesting but it felt like that it got convoluted very quickly and kinda resolved itself awkwardly towards the end of the story. I did like that Iris did have a found family that cared about her and was so awesome to her. I'm also glad that things worked out well for her father and her sister Olive and they were able to have a happy reunion.

Oh my gosh, I love Ann Aguirre and her Fix It Witches series! They’re all so good and so unique - and while this one has very little crossover between the previous characters (they do appear very briefly, so you can absolutely read it as a standalone), it does have a few ties with mentions of those characters, the town, the slight paranormal aspect and mention of a few things that happened in the earlier books (again, no need to read them to pick this one up).
I totally loved how unique this storyline was, even for the Fix It Witches world! Where our dear Iris flees to St. Claire when she inherited her late aunt’s house, tries to start fixing it up, and instead needs to start taking in a very eclectic group of roommates who all pitch in their handiwork as well as unique (paranormal) talents to get the job done and save on rent.
I love how Aguirre includes in all of the series an LGBTQ aspect of some sort, and here we’re have the great NB character Rowan.
Iris and Eli are the glue holding all of the roommates together, especially with the nosy and irrational neighbor trying to make life difficult. Such a fantastic story of found family, great friendships, long- unrequited love, and it’s just all around a feel-good book. I absolutely recommend it - and the whole series!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca, and this is my honest feedback.

This book was a little too all over the place for me. There were so many different elements going on that it was hard to keep things straight. I didn't like that Eli was basically a stalker from the beginning. This book was a miss for me.
