Loved it! Steamy but emotional, I really enjoyed the couple and wanted them to succeed! It left me wondering how the author had such insight into the world of celebrity. I also really liked the subtle nods to pop culture!
Ava Wilder has done it again. I really enjoyed "How to Fake It In Hollywood" but felt the ending was rushed. It's clear Wilder is more comfortable in her sophomore outing, as the pacing is much more natural and there's more depth to the characters. I loved Shane and Lila and their second chance at love. Seeing the spark between them from the first moment, I knew I was going to root for them so hard, even when both characters screwed up. There's so many sweet, small moments peppered through the big ones. Wilder is easily becoming one of my favorite romance writers and I can't wait to see what she writes next!
I read this book during one day of vacation. It's that kind of a book: you don't want to put it down. Part of what's engrossing about it is that the story is partially told in flashbacks. You are trying to figure out what went wrong between the relationship between t.v. stars Lilah and Shane because in present day, they are obsessed with hating each other. At first, I had a hard time with how horribly they treated each other. There were a lot of misunderstandings and hurt feelings to work through. Then I saw that they were just kids hitting it way too big in Hollywood, and had no idea how to talk to each other about their feelings. I appreciated that there were honest conversations and therapy sessions that were part of their reunion. And plenty of sexual tension. Wilder knows how to write sexual tension and sex scenes.
If you're also looking to read about how t.v. shows work, and what it's like to work in Hollywood, I really recommended Wilder's books. She does a great job of making that world come to life.
Thank you NetGalley for the digital ARC of this book.
A absolute wonderful feel good romantic comedy that anyone who is a fan of the genre will fall in love with
4.5 stars, rounded up
Looking for a slow burn lovers to enemies to lovers who also happen to be co-stars on one of Hollywood's biggest shows? Then this is for you!
Lilah and Shane star as lovers in Intangible, a super popular TV show. Which is great at first, until their real life secret love affair ends badly and they end up as enemies. It gets so bad that Lilah ends up leaving the show after a few seasons to get away from Shane. Well.....then she has to come back for the final season and things just get worse.
I absolutely LOVED it!!! This is the first book I read by Ava Wilder and I'm a huge fan. I will have to check out her other books!
This story was told in duel POV and duel timeline which I absolutely loved. I felt like getting both Lilah's and Shane's POVs added so much depth to the story. So did going back and forth between present day, shooting the final season, and in the past back to the very beginning of them meeting. I felt like I really got to know both characters better and understood how both them as people and their relationship got to where it is.
Omg the angst and banter! Top notch! Just the right amount of spice too! Highly recommend this!!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
After I read Ava's first book earlier this month, I was tempted to start this one but I wanted to give myself more time to enjoy it. I could not put this book down, I loved the back and forth between Lilah and Shane, and how the book switches back and forth between the past and present, I thought it was a really great way to show how the two ended up where they were, I truly enjoyed this story and I can't wait to see what else she writes! Also, for some reason, I kept picturing Riley Keough and Sam Clafin as Lilah and Shane.
I loved this one! I read her first book How to Fake it in Hollywood and I
definitely enjoyed this one even more. The two main characters were loveable and relatable despite being celebrities.
The concept of co-workers to lovers
was fun and entertaining. I met my boyfriend when we were co-workers so love that trope. There was good drama, banter, anxiety representation and a little spice.
The character development was good with believability maintained despite the celebrity/ Hollywood premise.
The one thing I didn’t love was their miscommunication. I always scream at characters to just talk to each other!! But without it sometimes there would be no conflict right?
Lilah and Shane’s chemistry was spot on 🔥. Read if you enjoy romcoms about co-stars or Hollywood. Read if you enjoy enemies to lovers or second chance romance.
I rated it 4.5/5 (rounded to 5/5)
This is my second opportunity to perform an advanced review for one of Ava Wilder’s books. Here’s what I love about this author: she takes the topic of fame, something that seems glamorous and most people covet, and shows the uglier side of living in the spotlight. It’s refreshing and it really makes you consider if fame is worth the trouble - AND makes you wonder how much fake news you’ve accepted as truth over your lifetime.
Shane & Lilah jump started their careers as principal characters on a popular supernatural drama. Certainly chosen for the roles due to their chemistry, the two become involved early in the first season but fizzle before the second season begins. They remain professional but openly hostile on a personal level until Lilah leaves the show after the fifth season to venture into movies. Her transition flops, and when she finds herself invited back to the show for the ninth & final season, Lilah and Shane pick up where they left off - despising one another. But as we all know, there’s a thin line between love and hate.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 - Lilah is a strong female character that strives to put her career first. I loved Shane; he seems to understand his role in Hollywood is fleeting and doesn’t force a career that isn’t meant to be. He’s down to earth, something you like to imagine for hot, famous guys. I really enjoy Ava Wilder’s books and I hope I get the chance to read more of her novels in the future!
Lilah and Shane fronted a TV show together for 5 years, despite hating each other for 4 of them. Lilah finally got away, but now is forced back for one final series in an achingly slow burn lovers to enemies to lovers romance.
Such a brilliant book! Loved the characters and the tension all the way through. Loved the resolution too. An excellent read!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC of this work.
From the original description, I anticipated younger characters; Lilah and Shane are in their 30's. This book has it all-- enemies to lovers, multiple POVs, celebrity romance, second chance romance, and steaminess-- but I found it challenging to engage with the characters. They're together, they're not; they like each other, they don't. Once they began therapy and the flashbacks began to fill in the backstory, my interest improved. I did like the ending.
I stayed up late to finish this one, I was so much invested in the development of the main characters' journeys over the span of nine years.
Lilah and Shane pretty much lashed out at each other after their break-up. They were both hurt and found it easier to throw insults at each other than really talking. This however changed when Lilah did a comeback for the last season. Their animosity had them ending up in counseling (yay for counseling!), where they finally opened up. Their growth from there was timid, but it did work out.
I absolutely enjoyed this story. So much happens over the years. Despite the questionable toxicity of their interactions, I rooted for them. As prickly as they were with each other, it was obvious that they had undeniable attraction and feelings.
One gripe that I have is that I found it tremendously wordy, when personally I prefer actions and dialogues over recounting. This was frustrating to me, because the storyline had me hooked, while I wanted to skip those parts (it could go on for pages at times) but could not.
Thank you to the publisher and author for the ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.
《 4.5 ✰ 》
Overall, I enjoyed this enemies to lovers Hollywood romance. The banter was hilarious, the characters were flawed, the romance was full of angst, and I ended up highlighting half of the book! So many great quotes.
Shane was more likable than Lilah in my opinion. I wanted to scold her for constantly invalidating his feelings for her. Thankfully, the therapy sessions helped. I absolutely loved their meet cute at the audition! I fell for Shane in that moment too.
There was a tiny stretch where the pacing felt a little off due to the conflict. The story began to drag. It did pick back up when the conflict was resolved, and I can happily report that it finished strong.
This may have been my first Ava Wilder book, but it certainly will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style immensely. I do plan on purchasing a physical copy.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for the gifted ARC.
I wanted to love this book, I really did, I just could not get the energy to care about the two MCs. I just don't think second chance is for me, I tried it, didn't work out. I will say that I did love going back in time periodically to see their beginnings, so it didn't feel as second-chance-unable-to-feel-the-beginning-chemistry. Also, FMC didn't vibe with me. I felt like she was unnecessarily antagonistic to the MMC. Three stars overall because the writing was great, I just wish the story was more my cup of tea.
Lilah Hunter and Shane McCarthy are the leads on one of America's most popular paranormal dramas--Intangible. After a messy break up at the end of season one, they grow apart, Lilah even going so far as to leave the show after season five. Fast forward a few years, and Lilah is returning for Intangible's final season. All of America is begging for their characters to FINALLY get together (and maybe even get together offscreen, too)…so, will they or won't they?
I thought this was great! While I enjoyed Wilder's debut last year, I think I loved this one even more. No one writes celebrity romance like Ava Wilder, and I will happily read anything she writes in the future.
Will They or Won't They was excellently written! I think it had perfect pacing, and the flashback scenes sprinkled in throughout were expertly placed. I love books that go back and forth in time! I also enjoyed getting to read from both Lilah and Shane's POVs. Once again, Wilder made sure to include all of the best romance elements--slow burn TO THE MAX, grumpy x sunshine except Lilah is the grumpy one (I love my ice queen), and a lovers-to enemies-to lovers arc that will have you ready to pull your hair out from the stress. Will they get together!!! Or won't they!!! Another thing that I really appreciated about this book was the mental health representation. Lilah's struggles with anxiety were very real and very raw, and I think it's one of the better examples of mental health rep I've read recently. I continue to applaud Wilder for writing romances that aren't just happy go lucky stories with lots of fluff. She writes real-life struggles into her books, and I appreciate that so much.
I would go to the mat for Lilah's character. I really resonated with her sense of unknowability, and I genuinely just wanted to protect her at all cost. I also love that she's tall! There are not enough romance books with tall FMCs in my opinion, so I LOVED that she was 5'11". That's how tall Taylor Swift is, so she's in good company. Shane's character was so endearing. So effortlessly charming and literally wound up in this job by accident. I love my soft boy!! I also like how determined he was to love Lilah. It didn't matter how cold she became, he still saw through all of her walls/masks and loved her anyway, for exactly who she was, flaws and all. I also really appreciated the evolution of their relationship, and how they had to grow separately in order to grow back together.
Some other things I liked about this book were the strong sense of family among the entire Intangible cast--I was just as invested in some of the side characters' stories as I was in Lilah and Shane's. I also think that Wilder wrote the difficulties of navigating a career in a very relatable way, even in their line of work as celebrities. The fear of the future! The unknown of the next chapter! I felt it all to my bones. Also, I can't write this review without screaming about: The photoshoot!!!!! The Airbnb!!!!!! The Christmas phone call!!!! AHHHHH!!!!
Overall, I think this was a super strong second novel for Wilder, and I loved this story and the characters so much. Something about it was all just really comfy in my opinion.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance book, especially slow burn/co-star romances! Additionally, if you enjoyed Wilder's debut, How to Fake it in Hollywood, I am confident that you will LOVE this one as well!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine for my e-ARC of this title, received in exchange for an honest review.
Lilah and Shane play lovers on a popular paranormal tv show (I picture “Supernatural” meets “Vampire Diaries” meets “Pushing Daisies”,) while in real life became enemies after their secret romance imploded. After leaving the show for a few seasons, Lilah has returned for the show’s final season. While the fans are excited for her return, there are some on the cast and crew who are not so eager for her return. What effect will her presence have on set, and more importantly what effect will it have on Shane?
This novel falls firmly in some of my favorite categories: second chance romance and enemies to lovers. It is also written in dual points of view and dual timeline, which I feel adds more depth and understanding to our characters and the evolution of their relationship.
When writing an enemies to lovers romantic trope, an author must take great caution as to not make the two main characters completely unlikable arch enemies. Otherwise, the readers would never believe it when they finally, as they always do, fall in love. This author has found a way to strike the perfect balance between highlighting the characters’ differences, the reasons for their antagonistic relationship with one another in the beginning, and bringing the audience along the path of their growth throughout the novel as we see their differences resolve through better understanding of one another and more clear communication. It has been a long time since a romance novel has touched me in such a way as this one has. I could not wait to read further to watch how the story developed, and when I finally finish it I was sad that it was over.

Lilah and Shane connect and break into Hollywood stardom at the casting of a new paranormal romance show. After a whirlwind lust-filled secret Season 1 romance, their break up leaves them as dedicated enemies for the next 7 years. Lilah eventually left the show but after crashing and burning in cinema, she is brought back to their show for its final culminating season. The entire cast and production team are full of angst over how Lilah and Shane will manage working together again.
This dual POV, dual timeline (flashbacks) read was such a fast read for me! I couldn’t put it down until I knew the outcome. Every rom-com can feel slightly predictable, but Wilder nails the tension and fine line between love and hate and will they or won’t they. Both mains were REAL flawed but likable characters who understand how tough the industry can be on your self confidence and personal relationships. The ending was so well done and I recommend this book to lovers of romance reads!

If you love The Reunion by Kayla Olson, then you will love this book.
Lilah and Shane play the perfect couple on TV, but in real life, they are far from that. After their fling ended, they can't stand to be around each other, so what is going to happen when Lilah reprises her role in their teen drama show, that is ending after 9 seasons?
This romance has so many tropes: angst, pining, enemies to lovers. I had been in a bit of a slump, and this kept my attention the whole way through. There was a twist at the end, but thankfully, it did not end in a cliff hanger. I love Lilah and Shane, and I would definitely read a sequel.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC.
**4.5 stars
Shane and Lilah are made for each other and they are such fools. This is a book about hidden pining, about pushing buttons, and about young adults (early 20's) growing up and blowing up from television stardom.
I loved this one so much more than Ava Wilder's first. It's super hot and the angst between the two of them is pitch perfect. And the ending....oh my gosh, a bold and perfect choice.
Thanks so much for this ARC!

When it comes to the celebrity romance sub-genre, [author:Ava Wilder] is at the top of the game. Following up on her debut, [book:How to Fake It In Hollywood] (and within its universe, although not really a sequel), [book:Will They or Won’t They] follows Lilah and Shane – two stars of a popular supernatural TV show who have loathed each other since their breakup during their show’s first season. After several seasons away (and a disaster attempt at breaking into serious cinema) Lilah returns for the show’s final season, putting her back in Shane’s orbit.
Lilah and Shane are explosive from the jump. They are never ambivalent toward each other - their connection was instant, their break was shattering, and their years-long on set cold war left gave everyone around them frostbite. [book:Will They or Won’t They] doesn’t break the mold, but it doesn’t have to.

Ava Wilder definitely knows how to write celebrity characters and make them relatable and root-worthy, while also creating crackling chemistry on the page with great banter. I enjoyed "How to Fake it in Hollywood" as a steamy celebrity romance with a bonus of some heavy topics that felt well handled and additive to the overall quality of the book. "Will They or Won't They" also has characters grappling with heavy-ish stuff from their past, including the ways they let each other down, but it didn't feel as heavy as HTFIIH. The toggling back and forth on timeline in WTOWT feels a bit disjointed at times, and also makes it pretty clear early on how it's all going to play out, but I still enjoyed the journey.
