"Unfortunately Yours" by Tessa Bailey is an absolute delight from start to finish, blending humor, heart, and sizzling chemistry into a perfect romantic comedy. Bailey's witty writing style shines as she crafts a story that is equal parts laugh-out-loud funny and irresistibly sweet.
The premise of two sworn enemies forced to work together sets the stage for a series of hilarious mishaps and steamy encounters. The banter between the protagonists crackles with electricity, keeping readers eagerly turning the pages to see what antics they'll get up to next.
What sets "Unfortunately Yours" apart is its depth of emotion beneath the humor. Bailey deftly explores themes of forgiveness, redemption, and the power of love to heal old wounds. The characters are wonderfully flawed and relatable, making their journey towards happily ever after all the more satisfying.
From the quirky supporting cast to the charming small-town setting, every aspect of "Unfortunately Yours" is finely crafted to create an immersive reading experience. While the romance sizzles, it's the genuine emotional connection between the characters that truly steals the show.
Fans of romantic comedies won't want to miss "Unfortunately Yours." Tessa Bailey has delivered a five-star gem that will leave readers swooning, laughing, and reaching for their own happily ever after.
This book flew to my list of top five Tessa Bailey books of all time. It has literally everything I love: it’s hate to love, but the hero is clearly in love with the heroine and even when he’s frustrated by her wants for her to be happy and safe and respected; it’s a relationship of convenience where they both had a chance to back out and still achieve their goals, but decided they wanted to give the other person a chance, it has a danger bang, and it’s got classic Tessa Bailey spice.
I know I’ve stood on my author growth soapbox before with Tessa, but allow me to hop up one more time - as a longtime TB reader who’s been through most of her back catalog, I love to see fingerprints of her earlier work that really work for me (namely an alpha hero in a love/hate relationship with the heroine who still respects the fuck out of her) with some updates. Everyone in this book feels fleshed out, nuanced, and ready to be a good partner. I loved it, and I can’t wait to revisit August and Natalie again and again.
This wasn't my favorite of Tessa Bailey's, sadly. I thought the premise was fun and definitely had potential, but it just didn't do it for me! It may just be my head space at the moment, but I may try this again someday when I'm in the mood.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. Anytime I see a Tessa Bailey book I know I'm committed to doing nothing else for 2 days! I enjoyed Unfortunately Yours! 4 easy stars for me!
I sadly believe Tessa Bailey is just one of those authors that are hit and miss for me. I really loved the fix it up series but this series just felt meh. I wasn't wowed or intrigued. I also do not like this idea of a rich girl secretly not being rich bc she doesnt have access to her trust fund. It is just not something that is appealing to me. I really am interested in future Tessa Bailey but I might be more picky and pick her up from my library.
I mean it’s Tessa bailey will I ever not immediately pick it up? You know me I’m a sucker for a man in uniform so I was really excited for this one! Wasn’t a big fan of the first in the series but loved this one
I like Tessa Bailey as a person and as an author. I wish more time was taken with this story and it had more depth and thought
I enjoyed this book more than I expected. I have a few friends who are huge fans of this author which encouraged me to give her a try. The book was very enjoyable. Because I’ve never read from this author before I was not sure what to expect but I had a great time. The main characters really pulled me in and there was not one thing that made me upset
A sexy marriage for convenience...sign me up. I loved this books. Overall such a fun, quick read. I loved the characters in this book, I felt like they were so relatable and welcoming. This book has all the great feels.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
This one was a tough one to review. At times I liked it and other times not so much. It’s a 3.75 for me. I liked it better than book 1 (which I rated a 3) but it didn’t quite make 4 star status for a few reason.
I wasn’t 100% a fan of August. He was a bit too demanding/controlling and over the top dramatic for me. A bit too caveman for my taste. I was expecting him to knock Natalie over the head with a club and drag her away 😂 and at other times I felt like if she said “BOO”, he would start crying. I understand he had PTSD, but it was too dramatic of a swing back and forth. The description of the emotions he was feeling over certain events were bizarre at times and over feeling and over detailed. I felt like screaming, “Put your big boy pants on” at August, lol.
I did love the actually story line and how we skipped an unnecessary third act break up scene, but the repetitive nickname PRINCESS got to me after about the 100th time. I thought we got past the repetitive nicknames in TB books and I just couldn’t give this a 4 stars for that alone.
Even though this one wasn’t 100% my favorite TB book, I have enjoyed several other of her books which I rated better and will always continue to read all she brings to the table.
Who doesn't love Tessa Bailey - honestly it doesn't even matter what the book is, if it has her name. on it, readers will buy it! including me.
This book was cute and simple. It was kinda surface level but that didn't bother me. I liked how easy to read the story was. Our characters were cute enough although it did take awhile to really believe their romance. overall it was a cute story and an easy read.
I enjoy Tessa Bailey's reads and if you are a fan, you'll like this one too - especially if you are into wine and wineries! A cute story that centers around that world.
I was definitely curious about Natalie and August after the glimpse we got of them in "Secretly Yours". Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, but I didn't love this story. It felt like they spent so much of the story at odds, and not in an enjoyable way like can sometimes be the case. So much so, that I didn't really care about them as individuals and didn't necessarily buy their love story.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a great read. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the pacing of the plot line!
Tessa Bailey has written another great book. Her characters always feel real and always have the best banter. I am always happy when reading one of books and this one is no different.
Another fun read! Enjoyed the sequel~ possibly even more than the first book. Easy to read in one sitting…. Captured my attention
Natalie and August feel sparks fly the first time they meet. She and he are both interested in getting to know each other in the biblical sense. Things go off the rails pretty quickly and they both spend the rest of their times trading insults with each other. August is a former SEAL who is honoring the dream of his friend by trying to open a winery. He is not very successful at it and is losing hope of being able to realize this dream. Natalie is trying to regain her former career in the financial district on Wall Street. She is home licking her wounds after a disastrous trade sends her into exile. She lost her job, her fiance' and her self-confidence. I will say that she and August are like oil and water at points. She blames him for all of their interactions going wrong, but she was just as culpable. I did like their story and was quite entertained. I didn't feel like I was going to be able to embrace Natalie in this book, but I found myself understanding where she was coming from. Everyone in her life seemed to still be holding her teenage years against her. It was time for all of them to move on. I was glad I read this book. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
Sigh... I have tried numerous times to give Tessa Bailey a shot and I just cannot get into her books. I find her characters to be whiny and usually immature. This author just isn't for me, but I know a lot of readers enjoy her writing! I'm also a more closed-door romance reader and her books DEF don't fall under that category. Tons and tons of spice!
