Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Of course, I love anything Bailey puts out so I was ecstatic to receive this one early. This is the second book in the series, but you could read it without reading the first book. It only makes slight mentions of the characters from the first book and with enough context you would not be lost. Any way, August and Natalie' story is a fake dating with a little bit of enemies to lovers. As usual, spice- check, story- check, writing- check. Just all around great. Definitely recommend.
Unfortunately Yours is an excellent follow-up to the recently published Secretly Yours. This story follows Natalie Vos and picks up not long after Julian and Hallie get their happy ending. Natalie, still struggling to find her place in Napa, wants to pick up her Wall St gig and go back to New York, committed to starting her own firm and showing everyone there that she's a force to be reckoned with. She doesn't have the money to do that, though. That's where August Cates comes in.
A marriage of convenience between two people who detest (read: adore) each other will surely work out, right? I can't see this going poorly at all.
Tessa Bailey has a knack for cutting to the heart of a character's emotions, and ensuring that the readers are invested quickly in both the plot and the characters' overall happiness. Not to mention the steam and chemistry between her characters is palpable. I find myself desperate to finish her stories, turning page after page and not being able to wait (much to the detriment of my job and household responsibilities). Legitimately, I want to be her best friend, beta reader, and confidant, just so I can be in the know sooner rather than later.
I am a Tessa Bailey fan and will continue to devour whatever she deigns to give her loyal followers. Thanks TB, Avon, and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
August is definitely, 1000% my favorite Tessa Bailey man, hell he’s one of my favorite men ever. I really liked the journey Natalie went through in this story, but I wish we could have seen a bit more from August. While he did grow, it felt a bit more muted. As with Secretly Yours, the location was absolutely perfect and getting to see so much of Hallie and Julian was the best. I also really loved reading about an Italian woman in finance who loves himbos, it’s like looking in a mirror.
This book focuses on Natalie, the sister of the Julian from the first book, and August who is new to Napa and trying to start his own vineyard. For Natalie to access her trust fund she must get married. She proposes the idea of a marriage of convivence to August, as marrying her would help him secure a business loan. The characters have good chemistry, and I liked their character growth. I enjoyed this second installment in the A Vine Mess series more than the first book.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley and Avon & Harper Voyage.
I read this on a cruise, and it was the PERFECT swoony, steamy vacation read! I enjoyed it even more than its predecessor (Secretly Yours)- the chemistry between the two main characters in this one was, well-- *fans self*
A really fun marriage-of-convenience plot, and I loved the wine country setting. Compulsively readable.
When I tell you I considered going back to the beginning of this book just as soon as I finished to experience it all over again, I'm not exaggerating. All at once, Unfortunately Yours instantly became a new comfort read and provided my newest book boyfriend in August Cates. To me, that man rivals Mr. Brendan Taggert for the title of lovesick hero. Practically every word out of his mouth had me swooning.
4.5 stars!
Upon realizing a marriage of convenience would benefit them both financially, August and Natalie navigate confusing feelings and forced proximity to unexpectedly fall in love. Their dynamic was both tender and fiery, full of lively banter and the spicy scenes Tessa is known for. Personally, a protective hero is something I adore. So, the running theme of August feeling a real sense of panic and unease anytime Natalie was in danger scratched it itch. Was it a bit dramatic and heavy-handed? Yes. Did I care? Absolutely not, since it was wildly entertaining and felt romantic as hell.
And though a third-act breakup was hinted at many times, it ended up being tame in comparison to others. Through it all, their adoration and respect for each other was always front and center, forging a connection that would stand the test to time. Speaking of, the epilogue was glorious! It was so domestic and happy.
Thanks to NetGalley, Avon / Harper Voyager and Tessa Bailey for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Tessa Bailey STRIKES AGAIN! The second I read about Natalie and August in Secretly Yours I loved them and wanted to read about them! This did not disappoint, as Tessa Bailey never does. The spice is perfection, of course, but the enemies to friends to lovers and the banter was pure perfection. The thing I love about Tessa Bailey is that her characters are so relatable and this couple, far and above, felt like a real life couple. The way they worked through arguments and fought and pranked each other - LOVE!!!
Please note: this is posted on Goodreads and will be posted on my book blog on Instagram on the publication date.

"Unfortunately Yours" by Tessa Bailey
⭐️⭐️⭐️.75/5
✈️ to: Napa, CA 🍷
I was really excited to read the second book in the A Vine Mess series because I LOVED the first book, "Secretly Yours." And while I didn't dislike this book, it wasn't nearly as good as its predecessor. I think my main issue was that the romance -- I know, I know it's a marriage of convenience trope -- seemed really rushed and the pacing a bit off.
When the main characters -- August and Natalie -- were good and the banter was bantering, this was *Chef's Kiss,* but it just didn't feel like that as often as I would have liked. Don't get me wrong, I still liked this book, but coming off the high of "Secretly Yours," I wanted a little more from this book.
Verdict: I recommend, but I didn't love it.
This book is absolutely perfect for all those romance readers that enjoy a “marriage of convenience” trope! The main characters have tons of chemistry and I loved the story of a winery needing rescue!

I had a fun time with Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey.
Natalie Vos is a former party girl trying to find her place in her family. She found success as a partner at a finance firm in NYC, far away from her family's Napa vineyard legacy. After one spectacularly bad gamble, she's back at the vineyard plotting her way back to the finance scene. August Cates is a devil-may-care former Navy SEAL trying to honor the memory of his best friend by launching a vineyard in his buddy's name. August has two problems: he sucks at making wine and he's out of money and can't get a small business loan.
Natalie and August are enemies. Mostly because they like to argue and are very competitive because at the day they are both super attracted to each other. Enter the MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE.
I love a marriage of convenience between enemies to lovers. So fun. Loved the banter in this one. I loved that he fell first. This was a fun one. I didn't read Secretly Yours first and I didn't have to, so I loved that too. Fun book. I recommend for a funny rom-com with good spice from Ms. Tessa Bailey, as usual.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper Voyager for this ARC!
I believe Natalie and August just took first place as my FAVORITE Tessa Bailey couple!! There is something about them that I could not get enough of! I found myself rereading so many parts because I needed to engrain every sweet and funny moment they had in my head.
Our heroine, Natalie Vos, moves back to her family's vineyard after losing her Wall Street job and fiancé at the same time. She has a plan for a new business, but requires her trust fund to get it started. However, there are some terms and conditions which include her needing to get married before the funds are released. Desperate to get back to her life in New York, she proposes to August Cates, a man she just loves to hate.
August Cates owns a vineyard, but doesn't know anything about making good wine, and no bank is willing to give him a loan to change that. So when the woman he can't stop thinking about since they met, Natalie Vos comes to him with her proposal that would benefit them both, he just can't seem to deny her.
Unfortunately Yours is the second novel in Tessa Bailey's A Vine Mess series. It is a marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, forced proximity romantic comedy that hits all the right marks. I adored this book from beginning to end and am most likely going to read it over and over again once it officially comes out! Both characters are loveable in their own ways and the undeniable chemistry between them was so addicting that I was even looking forward to every single time they would fight or bicker. Both Natalie and August are hilarious on their own, but even funnier together. AND THE SPICE, OH MY GOD...the cherry on top of an already very delicious cake.
This book comes out June 6, 2023, so mark your calendars. You don't want to miss this! Happy Reading!📚💕
The follow-up to “Secretly Yours” is an absolute delight. Marriage of convenience is one of my favorite tropes, so it was a joy to read this book. I laughed out loud multiple times and found the MC, August, to be HILARIOUS! Which was wonderful because I don’t think I’ve found other MC’s by Bailey to be that funny. I liked watching Natalie grow personally and in her personal relationships by having important but tough conversations with her family. I really loved this book and thought it was better than the first one.
Tropes: marriage of convenience, he falls first
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey is a funny and charming romance novel that will leave readers both laughing and swooning. The story follows Natalie Vos, a down-on-her-luck heiress who proposes a mutually beneficial marriage of convenience to August Cates, a vineyard owner in need of a loan to save his business. Natalie and August have a history of simmering insults and undeniable attraction, but as they embark on their fake marriage, they begin to see each other in a new light.
Bailey's writing is witty and engaging, and the chemistry between Natalie and August is electric. The plot is filled with hilarious antics and steamy romance, making for a fast-paced and thoroughly enjoyable read. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and readers will find themselves rooting for their happy ending.
Overall, Unfortunately Yours is a delightful and entertaining romance novel that fans of the genre will adore. Bailey has once again delivered a witty and captivating story that will leave readers eager for more.
Tessa Bailey is my queen! Bring on the smut, the banter and the absolute most perfect rom-coms ever written!! I liked the other book in this series as well. I find every time I want the guy to be my book boyfriend. I cry, laugh, blush and swoon which makes her book’s perfection!!!! This one I loved from the cover and fell more in love with the story. 5⭐️
I LOVED this book! It was an absolutely delightful read. A great enemies to lovers story from Tessa Bailey, especially for fans of It Happened One Summer!
4.25/5 ☆
This was a perfect combination of banter, tension, and romance! Natalie and August were adorable and despite "hating" each other at the start, they are easily obsessed with one another by the end.
Marriage of convenience is not something I gravitate towards often, but I thought this was well done and made sense for the plot. Natalie needs to be married in order to access her trust fund and August is in need of a loan for his business. As they navigate their feelings for one another, its obvious this marriage is something they both 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥, not needed.
There's a small third act conflict, but nothing too major and I thought worked well for how things unraveled in the end. Very much reminded me of Brendan and Piper in IHOS. The epilogue alone makes this book worth the read! It was adorable. Easily one of the better books from TB's backlist!
If you have already read Secretly Yours and thought it was amazing - THIS ONE IS SOMEHOW EVEN BETTER.
Honestly, Tessa Bailey never ceases to have me hooked on a book and her characters always draw me in. I absolutely loved this marriage-of-convenience tale. The characters were so funny and I loved their banter back and forth constantly. There were also some moments from August that were just so sweet you wanted just to die right there if someone ever said anything to you like that. Plus this one has a pretty good amount of spice in it as well. I loved watching these characters slowly grow into their "fake" relationship.
This was such a good little series and the epilogue gave us the cutest wrap-up ever. This book had me reading it completely in basically one sitting while my bath water got cold because I just couldn't stop reading. I highly, highly recommend this for fans of Bailey and just a general spicy rom-com. Easily a 5-star rating since I quite literally couldn't put it down.
I've read a LOT of Tessa Bailey books (and I've loved them all), but this is my favorite! If I am a sucker for ANYTHING it is hilarious enemies-to-lovers banter, and let me tell you... this is some of the funniest banter I've ever read. Seriously 'pee-your-pants' level funny from start to finish. And as if that isn't reason enough to read this, the romance and sexual tension???????? Unreal. Off-the-charts horniness. The chemistry these two have is just insane. Tessa really did something when she dreamed up August's character–I'll never be able to touch a non-fictional man again. 😮💨😮💨😮💨
There's also marriage of convenience and an adorably mischievous cat sidekick so... need I say more? Nope. This is a PERFECT romcom.

Thank you @netgalley and @avonbooks for this Advanced Reader Copy of Unfortunately Yours — out 6/6/23!
This was my first time reading a book with the marriage of convenience trope, and usually I steer away from it because it’s not something that interests me. However, I really enjoyed Hallie and Julian’s story in Secretly Yours (the first book in this series) so I decided to give this one a try.
Right off the bat, I could tell that I wasn’t going to like Natalie and August’s story as much as Hallie and Julian’s — mainly because of the trope, but also because I was not a fan of the “banter” between the two MCs. I’ve read a decent amount of enemies-to-lovers stories, so I’m all for heated banter. But in this case, some of the dialogue came off as rude and offensive rather than flirtatious. The rivalry between the two characters seemed a bit forced.
Once I reached the halfway point, there were many redeeming qualities that encouraged me to continue reading. I loved the Napa Valley/vineyard setting as well as the reappearance of characters from Secretly Yours. There were many spicy scenes, which is expected from Tessa Bailey! 🥵
Given by my 3 star review, my recommendation is a toss-up on this one. I recommend it if you like the marriage of convenience trope and if you liked the first book in the series, but otherwise I would not say it’s a must read.
Tons of tropes in this spicy, fun little read of a down on her luck wine heiress and her sometimes nemesis, former military turned wantabe wine maker August. Natalie comes home after the double loss of her high powered career and her fiancee. She has plans on making a comeback but needs her trust fund which she can only get by marrying. So she makes a fake marriage deal with August who needs money to fund his wine making venture. This has enemies to lovers, he falls first, fake marriage just to name a few of the main tropes but it's written in the author's fun and spicy style which makes for the perfect beach read.
