This is a gorgeous, contemporary romance, with a touch of the mystic, too,
Where a cynical travel writer has the walls of her heart broken through!
Allie Sparks has to find a new place and write positive reviews
Her editor - and readers - have had enough of her travel blues!

She decides to go to visit her best friend on Crescent Island where
Another writer has said that romance and love is always there.
Once the ferry docks and she's landed, smiles greet her everywhere
The people seem so friendly, helpful and endeavouring to take care.

Whilst walking on the beach she encounters quite a shock
As a Great Dane puppy comes calling and off her feet she's knocked!
Imagine the shock when she eventually discovers
The owner is actually her best friend's brother!

An island where astrology and matchmaking play key parts
In helping bring tourists in, and opening up their hearts.
Will Allie find her visit does more than reconnecting with her friend?
Will it prove decisive in bring her loneliness to an end?

A story of a dysfunctional family, where love is only for a fool
Where praise is in short supply and parent targets rule.
Contrast with her friend's family, where everyone has a huge heart
Can Allie discover a role there, too, and so they'll never part?

A heartwarming read, of community, family and friends,
Of learning the value of all before the story ends.
For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
I throughly enjoyed reading it and this is my honest review.

Allie is a travel writer, she get assignment to write a happy review, nothing bad as her previous reviews, or she could loose her job. She travels to Crescent Island, to write review and visit her best friend, she didn't anticipated to meet Ryan and his dog.
She gets more that she wished for. I enjoyed very much reading this book. Loved it.

Allie Sparks needs to let go of her negatively in order to save her job as a travel writer for a popular blog. Her stories are always the bad parts of vacation spots and her boss warns her. Allie decides to take a trip to Crescent Island to find a positive environment.
Ryan is convinced he can sell his families barbecue sauce but his father wants a firm business plan and investors. Ryan is focused on expansion.
Neither one is looking for love until they literally crash into one another. The they both deny their attraction and their meet cute and further story is just so heartwarming that I couldn't stop reading. I loved how these two interacted with each other. I also loved Sophie, Ryan's sister. She was a real spitfire.
This book is sweet, well written and fast paced. I'd highly recommend.

I received the ARC of this book by Net Galley and the publisher for my unbiased opinion.

This book starts with Allie being talked to by her boss, her travel blog is too negative, she only points out the negative of the places she visits. The on line magazine needs positivity or she will be fired.

As you dig into Allie's upbringing you can see why she is so closed off and critical, however he knows what she needs to do to keep her job. So she decides to finally go visit the island that her BFF Sofia lives on and raves about.

When she steps off the ferry at Crescent island which is off of the coast of Maryland, she is knocked into the sand by a HUGE puppy followed closely by a very attractive man.

Later Allie goes to the BBQ resturant owned by her friend Sofia's family she runs into the man again and finds out he is Ryan Sofia's brother. Sofia is suffering from a broken foot so won't be able to show Allie around the island so she volunteers Ryan for the job,

This story is heart warming, Allie who has never seen a loving family is enveloped into Sofia's family. In the beginning of the book I was skeptical whether I would like Allie but as I learn more and read further into the book I really start to feel for her.

This book is written so smoothly it flows easily, the characters are warm, loving and caring. I love how it revolves around a family.

Allie needs to seriously lighten up. Or she will be out of a job. As a travel writer she believes it’s her task to tell the truth about places, but mostly she ends up torpedoing the locations. Traveling to Crescent Island, Allie experiences many emotions and experiences that weren’t exactly in the cards.
I loved the island description and the fact Allie was able to set boundaries for herself, especially where her parents were concerned.
Optimus, the gangly Great Dane, will Win readers over and Ryan adds spice with his special sauce.
The cover makes me want to run right into it.

Sweet, hopeful, and engaging!

Her Unexpected Match is an enchanting, tender tale that features the dependable, handsome Ryan who, after meeting his little sister’s best friend, may discover that now is the right time for love, and the driven, hardworking travel writer Allie who may finally learn there’s a lot more to life than just work and that the true meaning of home is somewhere you feel cared for, supported and loved.

The prose is effortless and smooth. The characters are spirited, kindhearted, and amusing. And the plot is a delightful mix of family, friendship, tension, attraction, self-discovery, special moments, happiness, taking chances, and swoon-worthy romance.

Overall, Her Unexpected Match is a heartfelt, romantic, uplifting treat by Baker that’s a wonderful start to the Crescent Island series with its idyllic setting, affable characters, and little sliver of magic.

I did enjoy this story. Allle had come to Crescent Island to write for a travel blog. She had done this for awhile, but mostly wrote about where not to go. Her best friend from college lives there and she wants to visit with her too. Her boss has told her her next article needed to be uplifting, but Allie had trouble with that as she had been put down all her life and couldn't see the good in it. She lived in Miami but didn't enjoy anything it had to offer. It's very cute when she meets Sofia's brother, whose giant puppy knocks her down. He starts taking her around the island showing her how to enjoy things.
The story had very good characters, parents that were loving and parents that were not. The old timers around the town were funny and very entertaining.

I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review

I did not finish. This book just did not catch my attention. Great writing of what I did read just wasn’t a story I could get into.

Her Unexpected Match by Lacey Baker is a stand-alone romance novel. We meet our heroine, Allie Sparks, a travel writer for a blog; her reputation for negativity, causes her boss to warn her to write a lighthearted fun uplifting story that will save her career. Allie’s constant negativity in writing her blogs, had a lot to do with her parents, who were always cold and unfeeling. Allie decides to visit her BFF from college, Sofia, who lives in Crescent Island, with beaches, sun, ocean and possibly love. Will Allie allow herself to open herself to friendship and love?

Allie is welcomed by Sofia, and the entire Parker family, who run a popular BBQ restaurant. Ryan Parker and his cute Great Dane puppy, are all over Allie, when the puppy jumped all over her. Great way to meet. With Sofia limited due to an ankle injury, she pushes her brother, Ryan to take Allie around the island to show her the wonderful town. Ryan is focused on expanding the family’s barbeque business, with help from investors to offer all their wonderful bbq sauces.

In between worrying about a possible investor, he begins to spend a lot of time with Allie, as they slowly begin to have feelings for each other. However, Ryan has his hands full, as Allie is still determined to go back to Miami to work on her blog. I really liked Allie and Ryan together, as well as so many great secondary characters, such as Sofia, and all the Parker family. Allie started to enjoy her time on Crescent Island, loving everything about the Island, including the friendships and warmth from all the permanent residents. She also tried to discover who was the real matchmaker on the Island.

Her Unexpected Match was a charming insightful story, that was well written by Lacey Baker. It was nice to watch Allie slowly open herself to fun, happiness and love, having spent most of her life thinking of only bad things. Allie and Ryan were a perfect match, and I loved her close friendship with Sofia; not to mention the entire Parker family were awesome; including the adorable puppy, Optimus. I loved everything about Crescent Island, with the wonderful friendly residents, the wonderful restaurants, the ocean, and the whole happy environment on the island. I suggest you read Her Unexpected Match.

Cute, sweet story perfect for Hallmark!

Beautiful descriptions of a quaint island that supposedly has magical romantic powers. Allie is sent there on a last-ditch attempt to save her writing career, and the fun ensues. One of her childhood friends, Sofia, lives on the island and manages a restaurant with her brother, Ryan, who of course has a meet-cute scene with Allie shortly after her arrival. Add in a mystery and all the elements are there.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Her Unexpected Match is full with small town charm and delightful characters!

Baker really delivered on bringing the beach town vibes! I totally felt like I was there (wishing I was because it's winter where I am). The town felt like a small town and I loved that. The side characters brought a quirkiness to the story which is what makes small town romances charming to begin with.

The main characters were lovely. Allie was very relatable and I could sympathise with her struggles. Ryan was dreamy and the perfect confidant. I enjoyed the slow build to their romantic relationship and seeing their feelings develop over time. They were too cute and adorable!

A great read for anyone looking to be swept away to a small beach town and fall in love. Would also recommend if you enjoy Hallmark movies too.

Tropes: small town romance, friends to lovers, meet cute, best friend's brother, slow burn, angst, low steam.

This was a heartwarming romance as well as a book about self-discovery. I really enjoyed reading it. Allison (Allie) Sparks, a travel blog writer, visits the Maryland island where her college roommate and friend, Sofia, lives. While there, she is tasked with writing her impressions of the island, people and businesses, etc. She discovers love as well as a sense of family that she has never known in her personal life. I highly recommend this book to other romance readers. I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.

It's a cute little Hallmark type story. That’s not my type of fiction, romance. But if you like Hallmark movies this cute romantic mystery is just perfect.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book, it is a pleasure to review this book.

This is a somewhat quaint story set on an island off the coast of Maryland that was settled and continues to be occupied by four founding families. One of those families is the Parkers. Allie has been invited to the island by the daughter who is her best friend. While there she will have a meet cute with Ryan Parker which leads to a lot of soul searching. The story has a lot of angst and deep feelings as several of the characters seem to be hiding secrets or having a crisis. The author gives detailed and vivid descriptions of the scenery and the food which adds to the flavor of the setting of the story as a tourist destination. Ryan and Allie take there time about falling in love, but when they do, they are all in.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately this book read too much like a Hallmark movie for my liking. I can understand the appeal to others but I didn’t personally enjoy it. I probably would still recommend this book to particular people though like those who really enjoy Hallmark movies.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for granting me a copy of this book in return for my honest opinions.

I loved the setting of Crescent Island for this book. It is perfect for a romance book. I expected the typical guy meets girl romance story, but this one had so much more.

The story was beautifully done. I loved all the characters, but fell in love with Allie and Ryan. I especially loved Allie's positive attitude.

There were so many positive takeaways from this book.
