This book is filled with strong well developed characters. It is very emotional and so gripping. It is filled with so much tension. It is fast paced
I suspect my husband is having a affair and then he is in a car accident and left in a coma, there was a woman in the car with him who doesn't make it and a two year old girl who thankfully isn't seriously injured but who is the child to my husband? Omg this book is brilliant!! I love the connection that I made with the characters and the plot is twisty with just the right amount of tension.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Emma and Noah. They meet at college. There was an instant attraction. They got engaged and eventually married. They had a daughter Maya. They moved from Boston to Grand Rapids, Michigan. They bought a lovely house. Noah had a great job. He started traveling a lot was never home. One day the police came and told Emma he had an accident and was in a coma. Emma started trying to find the truth. She did eventually.
I was so lucky to receive an advance copy of His Secret Daughter by Melissa Wiesner from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. WOW! This book will take you on one heckuva roller coaster ride, You truly will not believe all that happens as you read this book - you will find it both heart wrenching and heartwarming I was unable to put this book down from the minute I started until I finished it as it's truly that good. This is a book you will be telling all your friend and family to read ASAP! I absolutely loved it!
Melissa Wiesner exquisitely delves deep into the complexities and fragilities of the human heart in her captivating new novel, His Secret Daughter.
Emma, Noah and their daughter Maya are a tight-knit family unit leading a life that is as close to perfect as it is possible to get. Emma trusts Noah implicitly and she thinks that she has got a long and happy future ahead of her with him – until the unthinkable happens and her husband ends up on his deathbed after an accident. Emma has to console her heartbroken daughter and try and deal with her own anguish and despair – until she gets another shock that pulls the rug out from under her feet: Noah was in a car with another woman who died at the scene and two-year-old Luna, who is at Noah’s hospital bed looking up at them with eyes that are exactly like her husband’s.
Just who was the man Emma was married to? What secrets was he keeping from her? And who is going to look after orphaned Luna? As Emma begins her quest for answers, she finds herself offering comfort to Luna and taking her into her home. Yet, at the back of her mind, Emma keeps on wondering just what other secrets Noah is hiding from her. Will her husband ever wake up from his coma? Can Emma ever forgive Noah? And will Noah’s betrayal end up tearing their own family apart…forever?
Melissa Weisner is a consummate storyteller who writes books that aim for the heart and never miss. His Secret Daughter is a compulsive, emotional and dramatic tale about trust, guilt, lies and deception that grabs your attention from the electrifying first chapter and keeps you on the edge of your seat and eagerly turning the pages.
Melissa Weisner’s characters are complex, layered, fallible and nuanced protagonists that are so brilliantly realised they leap off the pages. Her characters make mistakes, take wrong paths and will become as real to you as your own friends and family.
A thought-provoking page-turner you will not want to miss, Melissa Weisner’s His Secret Daughter is another must-read from this fabulous storyteller.
This was the first book I read by this author. It definitely will not be my last.
This was exactly my kinda book, sad, a little twisty, and very fast paced.
I fell in love with Emma from the get go. I enjoyed her dialogue in her head, but that she called things out when she needed to. She was very relatable and I almost found myself in her.
I don't want to say too much because I don't want to give anything away. But I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I have seen so much about Melissa Weisner, so was gutted to miss the tour, but the lovely Sarah at Bookouture managed to squeeze me in, thanks Sarah!
This is a wonderful read. Strong, powerful characters combined with a gripping and emotional read and I was hooked! Couldn't wait to get back to it, so much tension and drama, but the real strength is in the emotions Weisner manages to convey from her characters. It echoes a lot of Jodi Picoult, and she is my all time favourite author!
The plot is so fast, and she threw in a few twists to keep it interesting, which I love!
I will happily sign up for reading every book by Melissa Weisner now!
An easy reading heartfelt story about a woman who finds out her husband was in a car accident and with a woman and child….really lovely family saga story that kept me gripped
This book was hard to put down! I was completely pulled into the story and dying to know what the truth was. There were several twists and turns (some I guessed, some I didn’t). It really pulled at my heart strings. I was crying by the end!
Thankyou to Netgally, Melissa Wiesner and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC.
This is my first title from Melissa and I really enjoyed this book.
I found this story to be very interesting.
I enjoy a book that has twists and turns that you don't see coming.
I thought I knew what was coming but then something different happened that left me surprised.
This book had betrayal and lies and a sad ending :(
Will be reading more from this author.
4/5 Stars
Everything is not always as it seems. Decisions of adults to take time apart come to head when an accident causes a husband to be in a coma. So many questions about a mother is also lost in an accident with your husband and leaves behind a young child. What do you tell your teen daughter about her father and this child. You must find answers but there are not alot of those at hand. A precious daughter and a precious 2 year old deserve answers and so do you. As a wife you are hurt , confused and angry. After all as you try to find answers you find out most of your husband past are lies. As i read this book it kept me engaged and wanting more answers as much as the wife did. Hope you enjoy reading about his secrets.
This book! I feel like I just got off a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried, my heart burst, I cried some more. Phenomenal book.
This was such an interesting story. Full of plot twists and lies. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, something shifted. Great characters, interesting plot and a sad but sweet ending.
Definitely recommend.
Loved this book! This is my first novel by Melissa Wiesner and it will not be my last!. The story twisted and turned and unfolded in such a great way! I could not put it down!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC. All options are my own.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This is about a woman named Emma and her husband, Noah. The story is told in parts from the past and present.
Emma is separated from her husband when she feels like he is always gone for business trips and just not present enough for her and their daughter, Maya. When Noah is in a bad car accident with another woman and a two year old child, Emma is determined that he had another family that she knew nothing about.
Since Noah is in a coma, she searches for answers and finds out that everything he told her about his life was a lie.
This is not my normal genre that I read but it was an okay read with likeable characters.
After her husband is in an accident and left unconscious, we have a wife faced with the unthinkable. There was a woman in the car that didn’t survive and left behind is that woman’s daughter with eyes with a remarkable similarity to her husbands. This book has many twists and really pulled at the heartstrings. It’s not a mystery, but the ending was still surprising. This was ab amazing book. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
A beautifully written story with a twist at the end that pulls at the heartstrings. The ending had me feeling all sorts of feelings: sad, relieved, excited, mad but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
I will definitely need to check out more of Melissa's books!
A new author for me and I will definitely be looking for more of her work. This is a heart-breaking story and needs a supply of tissues. I have to admit that I did guess part of the story but that didnt spoil it one little bit.
