This was my first book by Melissa. It was a heart wrenching book with many twists and turns. Most of them I didn’t see coming. I went from wanting to slap Noah to wanting to hug him. I’m looking forward to reading more from Melissa.
Thanks goes to net galley and the publishers for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review and for the author writing it.
Emma is taken by surprise when the police arrive at her door. Instantly, she knows that something bad has occurred. However, she was not prepared to be taken to her husband in the hospital on the brink of death after a terrible car accident. Even more surprising, he was not alone in the car. Also, in the car was another woman and a young child. Emma’s world is collapsing as she tries to discern who the other individuals are in the car and what their relationships are to Noah. This family drama was heart wrenching and my heart broke for Emma as she was wrestling with the complexities of this situation. She overlooked her feelings about what may have occurred between the woman in the car and Noah, and she takes in the young child in the car, as Noah was to be the guardian should something occur to her mother. Emma also struggles with how much to tell their teenaged daughter, Maya. It was impossible to put this book down once I started. I highly recommend this author, Melissa Weisner and I will be seeking out other books written by her. Thank you the NetGalley and the publisher for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
What a fantastic book. It hooked me from the start. Brilliant style of writing and very relatable characters. Would highly recommend.
Although Emma is relieved to hear that her husband Noah has survived a devastating car accident, she is devastated to learn that he is in a coma. Furthermore, there was someone else in the car who died at the scene, and there was another survivor besides Noah, a toddler name Luna. Quite naturally, Emma begins to wonder what was going on with her husband Noah. His chances do not look good, and although very concerned for his well-being, Emma wonders who that person was who died in the accident and what Noah’s connection to Luna could be.
Not one to let things sort themselves out, Emma starts digging for answers. This means going through Noah’s past and possessions to try to find out what has been going on with him. It seems for certain that Noah has been keeping secrets and these secrets have a very far reach.
Noah and Emma had an idyllic first meeting and very wonderful relationship that started to fracture at some point. While Noah is unresponsive to stimulus, Emma never stops visiting and also has their daughter Maya visit as well, hoping against hope that Noah will soon wake up. Of course, Emma wants the best for Noah, but she also wants answers.
Emma soon realizes that she must make a very difficult decision, and as hard as that decision will be, she knows it is in the best interest of the little girl Luna. Melissa Wiesner has written a compelling read from start to finish, one that pulls you into the lives of these characters with the “what if” question playing over and over. For a compelling family drama that will keep you turning pages late into the night, look no further than His Secret Daughter.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Wow! What a rollercoaster ryde this has been! His Secret Daughter is an emotional journey of hope, fear, love and heartbreak. I absolutely adored it and couldn't put it down. It really touched my heart and made me shed a few tears
.
It is so twisty and it kept me hooked right up to the end. I think this is a hell of a read for a book club as it raises so many conversations about trust and lies, love and betrayal
.
Thank you @bookouture for offering me a spot on the tour. This has been such a great book and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. It stole my heart from the beginning and it will stay with me for a very long time
.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance read of this book.
This was my first book by this author and I found it so hard to put down! I read it in two sittings! An emotional read but with plenty of twists and turns to keep you flicking the pages. I look forward to reading more from this author ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What if you found out your husband has shocking secrets?
After Emma's husband Noah is involved in a car accident leaving him in a coma, she discovers her husband has been hiding a few things from her.
In the car accident a woman traveling in the same car is killed and a 2 year old little girl is mildly injured. Who are the woman and child?
Emma and social worker suspect that Noah is the father and with no one else to look after the child and Noah unable to tell his story Emma takes 2 year old Luna into her home. Changing the lives of herself and her 16 year old daughter Maya!
After doing some investigating Emma discovers her husband's secrets go all the way back to when they first met and she wonders what's truth, what's lies and if the man she married is who he says he is.
This novel had had me hooked and I read it in it's entirety in under a day!
It's gripping, intriguing and shocking! With multiple twits and turns that had me couch bound until I finished it. I loved it's heart-wrenching ending and the story has stayed with me even a week later.
Once again Melissa Wiesner has moved me and made me feel 'all the feels' And had me thinking what would I do in that situation?
Thank you bookouture for the arc read and for hosting the blog tour.
I tried putting myself into Emma's shoes so many times and I still have absolutely zero idea how I would cope with such bombshells, it was just one thing after another.
My god, how many emotions can be evoked by one book? This was absolutely tragic and heartbreaking, and when we were introduced to little Luna the floodgates opened again.
I did work out the ending before the big reveal, but it didn't ruin anything for me.
Did I enjoy this book, absolutely!
It's well plotted and I love the dual timeline, allowing us to know the before and after of Noah. It has a cast of credible characters and is definitely a 'just one more chapter read'.
Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'His Secret Daughter' by Melissa Wiesner.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Melissa Wiesner, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 3rd January 2023.
This is the fourth book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'Her Family Secret', 'Our Stolen Child' and 'The Girl In The Picture' which I highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its stunning eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'Fans of Jodi Picoult’s My Sister’s Keeper, Kate Hewitt and Diane Chamberlain will adore this absolutely unputdownable read about how the people we love most can hide the darkest secrets.' I am a huge fan of Jodi Picoult, Kate Hewitt and Diane Chamberlain so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Melissa Wiesner and if this is half as good as 'Her Family Secret' and 'The Girl In The Picture' it is sure to be a page turning read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of 30 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is set in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA 🇺🇸 .
This book is written in third person perspective with the main protagonists being Emma Havern. The benefits of third person perspective with are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
'His Secret Daughter' discusses some topics that may upset some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Melissa discusses/includes drugs and child abuse.
Yet another absolutely gripping book Melissa well done!!! This book is beautifully written with such emotion it will have tears streaming down your eyes. The stunning cover and synopsis suit the plot perfectly.
The storyline is a rollercoaster of emotions including heartbreak, tension, secrets, lies, friendship, family, love and just so so much more. It is hard to explain in words the emotions this book brings out. It is so heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I was absolutely captivated and absorbed throughout, a beautiful page turner. It is genuinely one of those books you just can't put down. It is also extremely thought provoking and most definitely unique! I have never come across a storyline like it in a book before!! I was just absolutely addicted to this gorgeous novel. It is an absolutely sensational family drama with twists and turns I just did not see coming so A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Melissa as it is getting harder and harder to shock me. My jaw just dropped so many times and I was just completely mind blown by everything that just kept coming out of the woodwork the more Emma investigated!! Melissa has such evocative way of writing that it really does bring out all the emotions in her readers. This book is heartwarming and heartbreaking, uplifting and just an absolutely stunning addictive page turner. I absolutely LOVED the ending and I had tears streaming down my face by the end which is very rare for me so well done (I think 🤔) Melissa for making me cry lol 😂). I would absolutely love to see this book created into a movie!!!
Clear your schedules and grab the tissues before even turning the first page of this stunner and get ready for an absolute rollercoaster of emotions!! One of the best books I have ever read and definitely the most thought provoking!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
The characters were realistic and each had their own unique personalities. This must be the first for a book but my heart went out to each and every one of the characters for different reasons. It absolutely broke for Emma who was going through so much anyway and the pressure, stress, heartbreak and so much more just kept being added and added to her emotional turmoil throughout the book and yet she still kept trying to stay strong for her daughter Maya. Emma is such a strong woman and I was just expecting her to curl up and crawl into bed at any moment which, although she wanted to several times (and who could blame her?) she managed to keep on going, discovering more secrets, looking after her daughter while helping poor Luna. I could not stand her parents who were just horrible and uncaring people especially her father who just disgusted me with his attitude!! I am so pleased that she had Alicia who was a true friend and such an amazing support for not only Emma but also Luna and Maya. She is such a kind and caring person and someone who I would love to have as a friend myself!! Maya is only a child at 16 but has also got so much going on with exams, worrying about her Dad and having her life turned upside down that my heart completely broke for her. Emma was doing everything she could to help but nobody can take away your emotions and my heart broke for the both of them. Throw poor Luna into the mix at just 2/3 years old and not having a clue what is going on and having her life turned upside down too and you have 3 amazing women/girls who have gone through so much between them all. I won't go in to any details about Noah or another character as I don't want to spoil it for future readers but the ending and everything that came out had tears streaming down my eyes. Gary was another character that my heart broke for and I don't believe he deserved what happened to him or how he was treated when he was just trying to feed his family. Argh!! There's so much more I want to say about the characters but any more and I am worried I will give too much away so I will leave it there. However, I will say that this group of characters will stay with me for a long time and if you want to meet them click the buy link below. Well done Melissa on creating such realistic characters and bringing their personalities and emotions to life!!
OMG Melissa!!! When will I learn? Always have a box of tissues at the ready and clear my schedule when I pick up one of your books as they are guaranteed storyline that I will completely lose myself in and end up in tears!!
.This is EXACTLY why you are one of my favourite authors and bring out the same emotions as reading a Jodi Picoult and Nicholas Sparks book brings out in me. They have definitely got competition in you!!
Congratulations Melissa on yet another absolutely stunning, riveting success. This would make an absolutely gorgeous movie and I am looking forward to your next successful novel!!!
Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first two chapters of Melissa's absolutely stunning 'Our Stolen Child' which is another emotional page turner and one I have read myself and would highly recommend!!
Overall a must read, gorgeous, addictive page turner that will take your breathe away and have you absolutely sucked in with tears streaming down your face!!
Genres covered in this novel include Romance Literary Fiction, Women's Literary Fiction, Romance, Family Drama and Literary Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Nicholas Sparks, Kerry Fisher, Diane Chamberlain, Jodi Picoult’s 'My Sister’s Keeper', Kate Hewitt, Catherine Ryan Hyde and absolutely anyone who loves an absolutely breathe taking, emotionally charged and addictive page turner!!!
284 pages.
This book is just £1.99 to purchase on kindle, free on kindle unlimited (at time of review) and £7.99 in paperback via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

Read In one sitting, His Daughters Secret was an incredible page turner, with incredible and relatable characters.
This book was filled with mystery, with the main character Emma playing a little detective role I couldn’t help but play along with her.
I came to my own conclusion regarding Emma’s husband and it brought me no joy to find that I was right. This was a heart felt and heart breaking novel. Filled with secrets, love, grief and confusion.
This is definitely a must-read for anyone who enjoys a light mystery read with a lot of emotions running high throughout.
My second book by this very talented author.
This novel was gripping, intriguing and well written. An emotional read with many twists and turns.
Narrated over different time periods, I liked the way the secrets and lies were revealed bit by bit.
Highly recommend. 4.5 stars
I was getting burnt out on thrillers and this was the perfect switch for me. Not sure if it was intended by the author, but I saw where this one was probably going pretty early on, but it did not make me enjoy it any less.
I am becoming a fan of these books with huge life dilemmas. You kick your husband out because you think he is cheating. He goes willingly. He then ends up in a car accident with a woman and child you do not know. He’s in a coma and cannot tell you anything. What do you do? You’d never know for sure unless you were in that situation, but I do think Emma was much more gracious than I could be.
And as I got to the end, the author asked in her acknowledgements if I was crying. And while I was not all out sobbing, I did shed a tear. I love a book that makes me feel but does not make me sob. Kudos.
I think this would be a great book club as there could be quite the lively discussion on the choices Emma made and whether you agree or disagree with her choices. This is the second book I’ve read by the author and she is good at coming up with social dilemmas to make you think. A little emotion and some hard thinking, it was a homerun for me.
I have not heard of this author before reading this book but after reading it, I won't be missing a single one.
Such a wild roller coaster of a ride, I had quite a few unexpected things thrown at me as I read.
Heartwrenching and heartwarming both. I was absolutely hooked. This book is unputdownable from the very first page, it absolutely draws you in. You won't be able to stop reading until it's over. I am totally hooked and must read more by this author!
Intense, this is the one you'll be recommending to all of your friends.
Such an unexpected ending. This is perfection and I loved it!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.
All opinions expressed are my own.
While this did peak my interest (I read this book in short order) I felt that the dialog was trite and I was able to predict the relationships involved once Noah's father entered the story. I did not feel any emotion whatsoever in dealing with the tragedies that occurred in this novel.
I do want to thank Net Galley for the opportunity to read this prior to publication.
They were happy but as time passed Noah spent a lot of time traveling for work. When Emma begs him to say no and stay home, he tells her he can't refuse work and travel comes with the job. They fight and Noah moves into out and into a small (hopefully temporary) apartment.
When the police knock on Emma's door early one morning, it is to tell her that there has been an accident and Noah is in a coma. Emma rushes to the hospital and learn that he was with a woman and a two year old girl. Because the child's mother is deceased and Noah is in a coma, there is no one to take charge of Luna and she will most likely be put in foster care, that is unless Emma is willing to temporarily take care of her.
This book is excellent. All of the pain Emma and her daughter, Maya, are going through is described so well it made me think what can happen if your wishes aren't clear. The emotions of Emma and Maya are raw and real. Plus the twists and turns from beginning to end kept me reading until late into the night.
I am grateful to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Wow! What an emotional book. Emma’s husband Noah is in a terrible car accident and is in a coma. With Noah in the car is a woman and 2 year old child who Emma do not know. As Emma tries to find out what happened and who the woman and child are, her life is turned upside down.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. Emma’s journey is one no one wants to be in. The story unfolds beautifully and kept me invested in the characters. I guessed part of the ending earlier in the book kept looking for clues. I will definitely read more by this author!!!
Great book. New favorite author. The main characters is what made me keep reading. Will buy book. Highly recommend
I enjoyed this one and read it in one afternoon. I liked the author’s writing style and the way she told the story, leaving just enough out that you had to keep reading more. The twists and turns were interesting and all in all, it was an entertaining, quick read.
What a fantastic last book to end 2022! I was hooked from the very beginning. Kept me always wanting to find out more. A true page turner to the very end. The book begins with the police arriving at Emma’s doorstep to tell her Noah had been in a terrible accident and is in a coma, He also has scratches, is bruised and with broken bones all will heal nicely. The female occupant is deceased and the 2 year old will be fine. She grabs her things and races to the hospital. Doctor tells her that he may remain in a coma for the rest of his life.He has been so distant lately. Was he having an affair? He has much to explain. Little does she know now how much more she has to discover about the life of her husband. First Emma finds Noahwas in Clora’s will as guardian if anything were to happen to her. Since he is in no position to take on the responsibility does it automatically become Emma and Myas’s to uproot their family dynamic to take on his? Yanking on the heartstrings of everyone. Yes, tissues are a must when reading. He had become so proficient at telling lies his entire lifetime was nothing but lies. It is for you to read and pull back the layers. The author has masterfully put these delicate pieces to the puzzle all together most succinctly. Special thanks to the following for allowing me to review early in exchange for my own personal and honest opinions. It is with jazz hands I give this two arms up and all ten fingers/stars!

Go and pick one up for your weekend must read.
I am so grateful that there was time to compose myself before writing this review. Did I ugly cry so much that I gave myself a headache? Yes! Do I feel like I have lived these characters’ lives through the author’s writing? Oh, hell, I do! Do I recommend this emotional rollercoaster to other readers? Oh, absolutely!
I was gripped by the beginning of this book and found the main character, Emma, incredibly relatable. Her anguish and heartache resonated through me, and she soon felt like a friend rather than a fictional character. Little Luna and Emma’s teenage daughter, Maya, were equally well created.
How would I have reacted to discovering all the secrets Noah was hiding? I am not sure, but this read certainly provokes some deep-thinking moments.
About midway through, I thought I knew how this would be concluding, and I was half right, making this more enjoyable and unpredictable. The storyline is well executed, and I will be reading by this author in the future.
Full of emotional charm, dilemmas, and brilliance, I wholeheartedly recommend this as a 2023 must-read.
