What a wild and crazy ride! Totally enjoyed Valerie Keogh’s latest domestic thriller. I’m so happy to find a new (to me) author. This is only my second book by Keogh but I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more. Amazing yet frustrating characters. Nice tension, twists and turns. Great reveals!
Highly recommend
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

This was a great mystery full of twists and turns and featuring a couple with way more baggage than most. Danger is everywhere and so is control and dominance. I was so engrossed in this story I did not want it to end.

Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books and Valerie Keogh for the opportunity to read an advance copy of THE TROPHY WIFE, to be published 2 January 2023. Love, hate, envy, jealousy, revenge and finally murder are what encapsulates this novel. The protagonist is a man at the age of 18 who leaves his parent’s home to go off to a university that they think is above and beyond his station in life. He never has contact with them again and in fact tells the man who would become his best friend that his parents are dead. Once that lie is told, there is no going back and he has to tell more lies to make that feasible. He falls head over heels in love with the woman his best friend has started dating and eventually marries. He serves as the third wheel for many years as he yearns for being with the love of his life. Since that isn’t going to happen, he settles for a trophy wife which turns out to be a mistake he can’t reconcile. He spends his entire life telling lies about who he is and where he came from all the while wishing to be in a loving relationship with his best friend’s wife and have a family. The moral of the story is you can’t buy love but everything else pretty much has a price on it.
