I come from a family of hunters, so we eat different wild game meats on a regular basis. Sometimes, I get tired of cooking it in the same old way, which is why this cookbook was a total surprise! The recipes are fairly simple and the photos were beautiful. It made me think “I could make this!” I tried the pinwheels and tater tot casserole and the family approved!
I also love how the book was so down to earth, there wasn’t a flowery story about why the author chose that recipe. They are obviously tried and true recipes that I will incorporate into our family meals. I ordered the hardcover version, so I can reference it anytime!
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group – Harvard Common Press, and Jennifer Danella for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Thank you for this electronic copy of this cookbook! As a hunting family, I am always seeking out new and delicious recipes for cooking wild game.

Firstly, I would say that this book is also absolutely one for the non-hunter but who likes game (me). Most of the meat is easily available in the UK although perhaps not wild turkey! We can get it in some supermarkets but I have a local estate who shoot, butcher and sell on-site wild red/roe deer, wild boar and pheasants. Bunnies come from local farmers. The recipes are straightforward, honest cooking and that should appeal to anyone; ingredients easily found and methods straightforward; the illustrations are fabulous. The recipes cover soups, mains and more with a range of "cuisines" too - Italian, Mexican, Irish-based for a start - and use grilling, slow cooking and stir frying etc techniques. Something for everyone.. The philly cheesesteak stuffed shells has become a favourite and who can resist the chilli venison mac'n'cheese? I'm looking forward to trying the spinach and mushroom venison pinwheels. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.
