A delightful and beautiful poetry book for children sure to inspire many a child to dream big and believe in their aspirations. The power of one is great and there is nothing more powerful or greater than the imagination of a child. A truly worthy addition to any book collection.
Who doesn't love a book about all the possibilities in life? A book that encourages students to think of all the things they can be, the things they can do, the avenues they can take in life. This book is written in poetry which is harder for many elementary students to connect with, but the message in the poetry is clear and easy for younger students to understand. The message discusses that there are a million things that we can be but being ourselves is the best. There are endless discussion possibilities for students in the classroom to discuss. Endless ways to connect their dreams with the positivity in themselves. What traits would make them a good teacher? What strengths do they have that would help them make a great architect? etc.
The illustrations in this book are very calm but appealing.
Thank you, NetGalley for an e-reader copy of this book.
This children books quiet inspirational. The illustration is cute. We have fun reading this and helping me to have such conversation with our little one
Perfect for the littles in your life. It’s just a sweet read. The illustrations are so stinking cute.
A beautiful, poetic picture story that gives the reader inspiration and hope! In this book, children can see on the pages the variety of opportunities that they have in learning about themselves, the world and growing. There are scenes that offer a number of chances to travel from their couch! Thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!
A delightful picture book with lovely rhyming prose. Sure to become a family favorite that will be read over and over again for many generations.
Beautifully written with a depth and cadence reminiscent of Maya Angelou, this is a book that will shape young minds into thinkers, dreamers and world-shakers. It is a perfect bedtime story, and n essential edition to community libraries and home libraries alike.
Truly one of the more lovely stories that exist in the world. I am glad to know that these books will be making their way to the shelves worldwide so that young readers get the chance to feel connected to the world in such a delicate introduction.
This was quite a lovely read. The story rhymes and it takes you through a journey of all the things a child could be when they grow up. I don’t mean things like a fireman or a doctor but things like kind be a thinker be a traveler. It was lovely and lyrical, and the illustrations have this soft, so realistic quality that is just enjoyable to turn every page. in this daily edition, the words can be a tad hard to read and some of the pages they need to be a heavier in bigger, but overall lovely. When are things I constantly comment on in picture books is cadence and when books try to rhyme but lose the cadence. I love that this book you feel a pattern but it’s not a true cadence, so it doesn’t feel like it’s missing. Overall, this book was simply lovely and I could see it being a standard for story times for years to come.
One of those warm-hearted affirmations you get to come across now and again – if you're lucky enough. This features a young girl and her cat exploring the world through large images, with a rhymed four-line verse each time. With her soaring through space, being a poet and travelling by gypsy caravan, teaching courtesy a cityscape full of books, or any number of other possibilities, she shows us all we can be what we want, as long as we want to be us and nothing and nobody else. I did think at one point the text wasn't a match for the artwork, but this is so beautiful very little indeed actually would be. Gorgeous in both mindset and design, this is as close to five full stars as makes no difference.
I Could Be a Million Things is a gorgeously illustrated children's picture book about a girl pondering, in a very mature way, the millions of things she could be in this world. Will she choose to be a thinker? To be kind? To soar high above the clouds? The great thing here is that she can be all those things, if only she chooses to, but the best choice she can make is first to be herself.
I see this as a highly gift-worthy selection, for anyone young or old who's looking for some direction in life and reassurance that choosing to be true to yourself is a valuable choice.
This picture book has fanciful illustrations and simple, rhyming text. Instead of focusing on career choices, the book focuses on different life experiences. Some of them are realistic, and others are fantastical. The book feels soothing and imaginative, and encourages kids to wonder and dream.
Can you imagine?
Can you find delight?
Can you enjoy yourself?
The storyline is simple and the illustrations by Maarten Arys are fun, simply beautiful, colorful, and delightfully imaginative.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to anyone, but especially to a school or public library!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book on Adobe Digital Editions from Clavis Publishing via NetGalley. Thank you!
"I Could be a Million Things" features a girl talking about all the different things she could be. With the use of "I" statements, students could recite these themselves and think about all the things they could be.
I loved everything about this book. I read it with my 11 month old and throughly enjoyed it with her. The illustrations are beyond beautiful as well. Very happy with this net galley come up and would love to own a physical copy
This rhyming picture book tells about all of the things a little girl imagines she could be. Each page follows the same text patterns, making it predictable and fairly easy to read. The text is thin and is black on white or light colour backgrounds, making it. a bit hard to read at times, but not too bad. The illustrations are beautiful and captivating. I think that children would really enjoy this book. I would recommend it for parents and teachers of children in the age 4-7 range. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this book!
This book not only has stunning art but the writing is absolutely beautiful. The pictures alone are beautiful with so much detail adding words just makes it better. I love the point of the story being happy with yourself and being able to offer so much to the world. Beautiful book I would love for my kids to read it!
From Miss Seven: "I really liked it because it says you can be loads of things, and you don't have to be one thing you can be loads of things. My favourite page was the one with loads of books on it, because that's like me. I love reading and books and stories. I also liked the page where she was under the ocean because I like water and water creatures and ocean and fish and rivers and lakes. I liked that it was a rhyming story. The drawings look like paintings. I would like to buy this book, and I think my school library should have it because loads of people would like to read it."
From me: a lovely rhyming tale that's more poetic and thoughtful than the zany/funny rhymes of some other kids books. Lovely, understated illustrations that have a painting-like quality. A really good book with a wonderful message that was cool to read along with Miss Seven, who really really loved it even if it's not as vibrant/zany in style/content as many of her other favourite kids books.
This is an amazing inspirational and self-help picture book for children.
This is the story of a girl who wanted to be many things, say million, in her words. She roam around nature and found her inspiration from her. She dreamt and found her inspiration there.
She had shown for how we all carry a kind of power which drives only from within and not outside. One must always be positive and keep possibility on getting the things done.
Best part of her poetic journey, for me was:
I could look for magic
or find a million stars.
I could be a helper
or cross the deep blue sea . . .
but my favorite thing in all the world
is choosing to be me.
This is a very realistic approach to let one get ready to work on themselves to achieve whatever they want. Not just children but even adults could be inspire from these words.
*Illustrations were amazing too, however I found difficulty while reading it on Kindle due to some display or editing/formatting issues.
Absolutely love this delightful little book - adorable images of a little girl and her cat and motivating, rhyming words of all the things a little girl (or boy) could be. I am a Grandma of 11 grandchildren and I can't wait to read it to the 6 that are 9 and under. When you read, don't rush it. Children will want to explore the delightful pictures before you turn the page, and the older ones will want to read it themselves and ponder and think of all the things they could be. Actually, I want to read it again myself right now!
Thanks to Net Galley and Clavis Publishing for making an ARC of this book available to me, and thanks to the author, Jessy Humann for writing it.and to Maarten Arys for the amazing illustrations. #Clavispublishing
