I have typically enjoyed the majority of books I have read by Harlan Coben. However, this one was a complete disappointment! The dialogue was horrible and as if written by a teenager. The premise of the storyline is basically ridiculous! I did not buy into any of the story. Though this one did not appeal to me, I will still read additional books by the author in the hopes that they are an enjoyable read as his earlier books have been.

David is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of his young son five years ago, but he is adamant that he did not commit the crime. When his former sister-in-law Rachel visits with what may be a photograph of his son – still alive – he becomes determined to break out of prison and figure out the truth.
This is my second Harlan Coben book, and while they are very different from each other I was suprised to see a small link – the recovered painting in Win is on display when we first meet the rich villains of this piece. The serendipity amused me. But then, coincidence is the name of the game in this book, so perhaps it was apt.
This is a straight-up action thriller, the kind you end up getting sucked into like you’re watching a movie. David makes for an engaging main character (how can you not root for a dad trying to reunite with his child?) and I was on the edge of my seat throughout, wondering how he would get out of the latest bind. Despite the dark subject matter there were plenty of flashes of humor as well.
However, while it’s an enjoyable ride, it’s a pretty cheesy one, full of heightened emotions, high-octane drama, and not very much realism. The characters are more quick sketches than anything near realistic figures, and the amount of coincidence needed to keep the plot going is rather mind-boggling. In the end, it was an entertaining read, but a forgettable one too.
David is an amazing main character in this book from Harlan Coben; the story had many twists and turns that make it a very suspenseful read! I thoroughly enjoyed this and I believe it's one of Coben's best modern books he's written.
Huge thankyou to NetGalley for the ARC of this novel, I highly recommend it.

David Burroughs was once a devoted father to his three-year-old son Matthew, living a dream life just a short drive away from the working-class suburb where he and his wife, Cheryl, first fell in love--until one fateful night when David woke suddenly to discover Matthew had been murdered while David was asleep just down the hall. Half a decade later, David’s been wrongly accused and convicted of the murder, left to serve out his time in a maximum-security prison—a fate which, grieving and wracked with guilt, David didn’t have the will to fight. The world has moved on without him. Then Cheryl’s younger sister, Rachel, makes a surprise appearance during visiting hours bearing a strange photograph. It’s a vacation shot of a bustling amusement park a friend shared with her, and in the background, just barely in frame, is a boy bearing an eerie resemblance to David’s son. Even though it can’t be, David just knows: Matthew is still alive. David plans a harrowing escape, determined to achieve the impossible – save his son, clear his own name, and discover the real story of what happened. But with his life on the line and the FBI following his every move, can David evade capture long enough to reveal the shocking truth?
Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for giving me an advance copy.
Fast paced and intense, I always heard about Harlan Coben books but never tried one myself. This is my first of what I think will be many!! Amazing!
Harlan Cohen does it again, Wow! What a great book, I could not stop reading until I was done. Harlan Coben is by far one of my favorite authors, he never disappoints.
In classic Harlan Coben fashion, this one is twisty and dark. As usual, I was left with a few questions at the end, but had a fun time while reading! I try to go in to his books blind and would recommend that for this one, as well. Counting down until the Netflix show!
Harlan Coben is one of my all time favorite authors.
I recommend him to anyone, especially those trying to get back into reading. He's an easy to follow and quick read.
There's a reason why Netflix continues to adopt his books, he's very enjoyable and a fun read.
I must say while I enjoyed I Will Find You, Six Years is still my favorite, my first Harlan Coben and forever my favorite.
I loved this one! Fast paced thriller! Would definitely recommend. A hard one to put down. I can’t wait to try more from this author.
I did enjoy this but I can’t say I thought it was his best work. The story was just so farfetched, and then wrapped up so neatly. Probably my favorite thing was the baddie had a pretty interesting motivation. Even though this wasn’t my favorite Coben I still look forward to reading his next book!
Could not put this down!!! Harlan always finds a way to twist and twist until you are wrung out and sleepless.
I normally love Harlan Coben and have read almost everything he's written. Most of his books are a hit for me but this was a miss. Just a little too much suspension of disbelief for me.
David is serving a life sentence for the murder of his son, Matthew, which he claims he did not commit. The issue is there is a witness claiming he buried the bat in the woods. Just when David is accepting the fact that he wont be able to ever get out or prove his innocence his sister in law shows up at the prison. She shows David a picture of her friends family at an amusement park but it isnt the family in the picture that is important. It is the little boy in the background. It is Davids son Matthew who was murdered in his bed by his father. But he is there and alive. Quickly things start taking a turn as David tries to convince the warden to get him out, escapes the prison, goes on the ride of a lifetime, and finds out exactly what happened that fateful day of Matthews supposed murder.
This was a fast paced ride from the beginning to the end. I dont think it could have been any better to be honest. I really enjoy all of Harlan Cobens novels and this was another that blew me out of the water. I thought I had it figured out and knew what happened but what the ending revealed I really didnt expect. I liked that there was still someone on Davids side even when everything seemed hopeless for him. David was a relatable character and I felt for him more than I probably should have. I was in for a ride and it kept me on my feet. highly recommend!
Five years ago David Burroughs went to prison, convicted of murdering his son. Although innocent, he felt responsible for not protecting his child and accepted his fate. Then his sister-in-law shows up to visit with a picture of a child that resembles his son and he's determined to escape prison and find his son. This is fast paced and difficult to put down.
Easily his most predictable novel. I mean, the guy’s no great shakes as a writer, but his plots are generally entertaining. This is the first one I didn’t finish.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 stars)
Prepare yourself for an exhilarating journey through the pages of Harlan Coben's latest masterpiece, "I Will Find You." As a devoted fan of Coben's work, I can confidently say that this novel is an absolute triumph, solidifying his position as a master storyteller in the realm of thrillers.
From the very first page, Coben grabs your attention and refuses to let go. The narrative is a rollercoaster of suspense and intrigue, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the final, jaw-dropping revelation. What sets this book apart is Coben's exceptional ability to weave intricate details into the storyline, painting a vivid picture of the characters & events that unfold.
"I Will Find You by You" is a gripping tale that begs to be adapted for the screen. The vivid imagery and compelling plot practically scream for a movie or series adaptation, & I wholeheartedly join the chorus of voices urging for this to become a reality.
To all the thriller enthusiasts out there, this book is a must-read. If you crave a story that keeps you guessing until the very end, Coben delivers in spades. I wholeheartedly recommend this novel & can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
A heartfelt thank you to #IWillFindYou, #NetGalley, and Harlan Coben for providing the ARC. My review is strictly voluntary..
Harlan Coben was one of my favorites for a very long time. This is one of the better ones he has written lately. It was a unique and entertaining book, which is based on a father murdering his son. Initially, the heaviness of the plot was a concern, but after a trusted friend assured the reader, the heaviness was moved aside. The book moves at a breakneck speed and is entertaining. I recommend going in blind and suspending disbelief, but the ending is a grand spectacle that fans of fictional conspiracy theories will enjoy.
Thank you so much to #Netgalley for this advanced copy for an honest review.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Grand Central publishing for this advance copy of I Will Find You by Harlan Coben - I’ve always enjoyed the Coben books I’ve read, and I was thrilled to snag an advance reader copy for this one. Out today!
This one starts off with a bang as we meet David, currently incarcerated for the murder of his little boy. It’s set pretty early on that David has friends and his father is a retired cop, and when David’s ex-SIL Rachel spots someone in a photo that looks like David’s son, she goes to visit him in prison, knowing that (realistically) there are better ways of going about this than this crazy prison escape that they plan. Requires you to suspend a bit of reality for this one, but this is fiction, and it was entertaining at the very least. This book was SO fast to read, but almost the whole book, I kept thinking “oh no way this is how this happened” - I think I enjoyed a few of the author’s works a bit more, but I definitely enjoyed the pacing of this one.
Thank you again to NetGalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I had been so excited to read this book as I kept thinking to myself how does this work? How does a dad go to prison for murdering his son and then for his son to have been alive all this time? Did they not follow due course and policies and procedures as this does not make sense to me at all? After reading this book, I could understand but I still am in two minds about this book and where I sit with this book. I wanted to love it and it was a great mystery read but as someone who watches a lot of crime TV shows and reads a lot of thrillers, I felt this one had a lot of plot holes that would never happen in real life and to be honest someone as prolific as Harlan Coben would have known better. I didn't intend this review to become ranty but parts frustrated me as our main character who by the way was a loving husband is accused of brutally murdering his son which by the way, he doesn't remember as he didn't do it. We then have an old lady witness who said she saw him burying his baseball bat in the yard which had his fingerprints on it - which of course it's his bat. The dad is then sentenced to life in prison as a child killer and he loses everyone he loves. That is until 5 years later when his son is 8 years old, his ex-sister-in-law Rachel turns up with a picture which is the spitting image of his son right down to the birthmark. How could this be we ask ourselves - ready for this - they didn't do a DNA test of the body to see if it was their son. The truth eventually comes out and David is freed but not after a whole lot of trouble and what was the reason - freaking revenge.
I would say if you want a good thriller, then I Will Find You was a good read but if you are like me and a huge thriller/ crime aficionado then I would give this one a miss as the inconsistencies will frustrate you like it did myself.
You HAVE to read this book!!! It was so good. The very first pages you know it's going to be a good book. David is wrongly accused of murdering his son until he sees a picture of him still alive!! Right there this author has you hooked! Highly recommend!!!!
