Harlan Coben did not disappoint yet again. Not a dull moment in the story. I have expected a little bit more drama towards the end, but all in all, a very good read.
This title started out very strong, with an interesting premise and a great beginning. And then...About 1/3 of the way in, 2 FBI agents were introduced and, my God, they were annoying. They used their first names in their "banter," which was neither cute nor engaging. The second 2/3 of the book, I just tried to plow through. A disappointing entry into Coben's catalog.
Harlan Coben is one of my favorite authors and his latest thriller does not disappoint.
David is serving a life sentence for the brutal murder of his son. BUT did he do it or not??? What follows is a gripping tale of lies, betrayal and the desperate attempts to find the truth!!!
Coben’s storytelling is above all and takes the reader on a wild and crazy roller coaster with twists and turns that I never saw coming!!!
Thank you Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for the honor to read and review this book!!!
Another winner by one of my favorite authors!
This one kept me engaged through the entire book, even keeping me up way past my bedtime. I wasn't quite sure how it was going to end, but I definitely think it had a good one.
It's one of those situations that you can't always resolve the way that you want to, but I think it ended up the best that it could have.
I generally purchase all of Harlan Corbans books as audio books, and since I read this one, I will probably still purchase it because I enjoy listening to the narrator.
I Will Find You by Harlan Coben is a high octane, adrenaline rush, joy ride in a stolen vehicle! You are a passenger, with a bird's eye view, in an escaped prisoner's attempt to follow the leads and get the bottom of the mystery his son’s death. I can see it now, as a Netflix limited series, featuring the snarky, sarcastic FBI Desi and Lucy slap stick duo. Special Agents Max Bernstein and Rachel Jablonsky are the pompous FBI agents in charge of capturing convicted child killer David Burroughs. Their deadpan routines and devilish intellects are actually effective as they track down this felon. Coben is a master at his craft. The tale is full of sensory details; color and texture bring the story to life. The tension builds with every page, leaving you breathless waiting for the next twist. It was a fabulous ride!
Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for a free digital copy of I Will Find You by Harlan Coben for an honest review. First, I want to start this review by saying I LOVE Harlan Coben. He is a fantastic author and I have immensely enjoyed many of his books. However, this one was a little disappointing. It just wasn't one of my favorites. However, that being said, it was very fast paced and exciting. You just had to suspend reality A LOT to enjoy it. Also, I felt getting to the final outcome was a little rushed. But I will not let this one book discourage me from trying other new books he writes. I'd give this book 3 1/2 stars.
Another great Harlan Coben mystery with tons of suspense. Nothing is ever as it seems. The twists and turns keep coming as he adds layer and layer to the story. Recommended,
There is a reason I read every single one of Harlan Coben’s books. He is a master writer; master of original plots, master of interesting characters, great sense of humor and the absurd, and page turning exciting action. I Will Find You is a bit unusual for Mr Coben, as the story line is not quite plausible in a real life setting. The reader needs to just accept some of the “ never gonna happens” and focus on the action.
David Burroughs has been convicted of viciously murdering his three year old son, Matthew and has completed serving 5 years of his life sentence in a maximum security prison. He has lost everything ; his child, his wife, his family and friends. He has refused all visitors until one day his sister in law, Rachel, is awaiting him in the visitors room with something he has never in his wildest dreams expected. David has continuously professed his innocence and yet there has been no evidence to support his position. But now Rachel shows him something that might raise his sinking ship of a life and could be the magic bullet to set him free. There’s a current photo of a boy who looks exactly like Matthew right down to the facial port wine stain he had at birth. Is it possible for Matthew to be alive although a battered body was identified as David’s son? And how can it be proven while David is locked up tight?
Non stop action ensues with mafia figures, uber wealthy connections, lies and dishonesty permeating the past, and two very clever FBI agents with a one on one banter that can shake up the cagiest criminal mind What a wild ride from beginning to end.! Even , Hester Crimstein,, criminal attorney extraordinaire from past Coben works pops up a few times. I liked that.
For Coben lovers, thriller lovers, fans of police procedurals and those who can suspend reality for just over 300 pages, I recommend reading this engaging book which will be published on March 14,2023. Many thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
First, I want to thank Harlan Coben, Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
YES!!! YES!! YES!! Harlan Coben is back baby and better than ever in his new must read thriller I Will Find You!! Oh how I have been a fan of his since he released Gone For Good!! Because of Gone For Good I have been hooked on the thriller genre ever since!!! Needless to say that I was over the moon excited to read and review this book for you!!
Harlan captivated me instantly with this fast paced, totally addictive, action packed, twisted, and thrilling read that will have you at the edge of your seat glued to your Kindle! It is a book that you will want to clear your schedule for so you can just binge read it! It is just that good!
One thing I adore about Harlan’s books is he is a creative genius who is always thinking outside of the box with his storylines! With I Will Find You he yanked my heart strings as this storyline is every parent’s worst nightmare! My heart just ached for both David and Cheryl in this storyline.
I Will Find You is a 5 star must read book that must be added to your TBR list!!
. This is another exciting thriller by one of the masters of the genre. Five years ago, David Burroughs was sentenced to prison for murdering his own son, but now evidence has come to light that his son might not even be dead. With the help of his former sister-in-law, Rachel and a couple of old friends, David breaks out of jail and sets out to clear his name and hopefully find his son.
The action in this book doesn't let up for a second. While there are some implausibilities in the story, like the way David escapes from prison, the plot is completely unique with surprises that you will never see coming. In fact, hardly anything goes the way you expect it to in this book. There is a nice chemistry between David and Rachel as well that that will keep romance fans wishing for more. All in all, this is a very satisfactory read.
This was a really good read! A man is in prison for killing his three year old son.. He is resigned to life In prison because he feels that he is responsible. He feels like sense he was his father and he couldn’t protect him he should pay the price. This book has a wonderful about of suspense and moves along at a perfect pace for me. Not to slow not to much at once. Grab this read find out who did they really bury who is his son?’ He has to escape to find out and so do you! I just wish this one was longer I love a good long read!
I WILL FIND YOU is an intriguing and emotion filled journey as one man tries to find the answers to what he thought was his sons murder. David Burroughs lost all hope after his son was murdered and he's been imprisoned for the murder, but when he discovers his son is still alive, David suddenly has a reason to live. The reader is taken away with David as he escapes prison and searches for answers, like pieces in a puzzle, as the FBI close in on him. But they aren't the only ones looking for him; others are watching for him or desperately hiding from him. The reader feels everything he feels: grief, anger, fear. You're never certain what's going to happen to him next. Great suspense! As a side note, I loved the characters of FBI Special Agents Max Bernstein and Sarah Jablonski - they need their own book!
Once you start, you can't let go. You want to know what, when, where and most especially why? Oh, and the why will completly surprise you. Don't start this book until you have the time because you can't put it down. The best things about a Harlan Coben book is the fast pace and surprising turns. A great book to get lost in.
Harlan Coben has been of my go to writers for close to 30 years and his upcoming novel, I Will Find You is a good example of why I love his books so much.
David Burroughs has been in prison for five years for a crime he didn’t commit, the murder of his of his three year old son. Filled with guilt over not being able to protect his family, he has given up all hope. Then out of the blue his sister in law visits him for the first time with a photo of a child who bears an uncanny resemblance to his son complete with an identical birthmark. How is this possible? David doesn’t know but he’s determined to find out. The only problem is he must get out of prison to do it.
This book grabbed me from the first page and it took me on a fast paced rollercoaster ride of a read. Coben excels at setting up seemingly impossible situations for his characters and then proceeds to have them solve them in ingenious ways. I love the lightening fast pace of his books and this one rarely slowed down to let me catch my breath. It’s a fun, fast, adrenaline fueled thriller and I loved it! But it’s not all action, there is great character development and I came to care about David and my heart broke for him and I rooted for him all the way to the bitter end in his quest to discover the truth of what really happened the night his son was murdered.
If you enjoy fast paced thrillers with really clever mysteries at their heart you cannot do better than this book, or any Harlan Coben book. I highly recommend.
Thank you to @netgalley and @grandcentralpub for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Just finished this book and easy 10/10! One of my top 5 favorite authors and this was an absolute wonderful read! I loved how the first 10 pages just really grabs the reader and the plot twist was sooo good! This is one I look forward to coming out and purchasing and adding to my collection. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy to read.
Coben knocks another one right out of the park! Was some (A LOT) of it really unbelievable? Yes. Did I care one bit? Nope! Very exciting, edge of my seat the whole time, kind of read. I really enjoyed the little connection to Win (the character, not necessarily the book)! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!
Wow! This is by far one of the best books I've read this year. It's action-packed and keeps you suspense thruout the entire book. It sucked me right in.
David is serving time for murdering his son. He claims he's innocent, but the evidence says otherwise. He's accepted his fate and refused all communication with his family. His life isn't worth fighting for since he doesn't have his son in it.
After 5 years, his ex sister in law shows up for an unexpected visit. He tried to refuse it, but the guard wouldn't let him. It's a blessing because one photo can change a person's life. When Rachel shows David, that photo is his saving grace. He finds a reason to fight for his innocence.
You must read this book. It's really good, and Harlan Coban does not disappoint!

I’ve always enjoyed Harlan Coben’s one-off mysteries, typically involving an “ordinary” man with flaws who is caught up in a threatening plot that makes no sense to him and threatens to rob him of everything he values and destroy his life. I Will Find You has all the hallmarks of this blueprint but somehow seems a bit going-through-the motions and cursory.
Five years ago, David’s young son was murdered and David was found guilty of his death. Since then, he has drifted through time in jail, caring about nothing and nobody. But then his ex-sister-in-law turns up at the prison with a photo that seems to prove that Matthew is still alive. This is an intriguing and very Cobenesque set up, though perhaps David is ramped up a bit from the usual “ordinary” man and has already had his life ruined.
From there we are off on a whirl of implausible action, often guessable plot twists, and, ultimately, an unlikely resolution. This is all easy stuff for the author who has a talent for creating these apparently impossible and intriguing situations and then finding a nifty way out of them. In this case, it all just felt a bit too mechanical and rote.
I did enjoy the wisecracking and apparently invincible FBI partnership of Max and Sarah, which reminded me quite a lot of Barbie and Ken in Stay Close (the TV show, I haven't read the book). Though they seem to be able to gather information unfeasibly quickly and generally leap to correct conclusions, they serve as some light to David’s shade and keep the plot moving along.
The climax and the subsequent epilogue never felt credible to me, maybe because I hadn't invested fully in the characters and the set up. Nonetheless, Mr Coben’s not quite up to snuff thrillers still thrill and grip, so I can’t gripe too much.
Thanks to Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for the digital review copy.
This was my second book by Harlen, he comes highly recommended by many friends and I can see why. His books are gripping and draw you in early. I love a fast paced book you can’t put down. This falls into that category and once I started it, it was hard to put down as you follow some very interesting characters throughout the story. My favorite dynamic was the playfulness between the FBI agents and their banter.
If you like Harlem Coban’s books: this one hits the mark. Complete with dark secrets, shady police officers, and a everything-against-them protagonist, this was great. Quick read. Maybe not 100% believable, but that makes good fiction. Recommended.
