i was definitely attracted to this book because of the cover!! i wanted to love this book (for that reason) but i didn’t love it….i thought the plot was realistic and jude & molly were cute (semi immature but i can ignore it). i wish there was a bit more spice! i usually don’t say that about books but i felt the scenes just fizzled out way too fast for my liking! maybe i’m just used to the more intense stuff now lol

I almost DNFed this book about 10% of the way in because I could not stand Jude. He was an arrogant, immature, petty man. And I was furious thinking this is the type of person the FMC would fall for (yes, I like this is my dark romance books, but not in my other romance sub genres). Luckily, this is not the man he is, so it's safe to continue the book if you feel the same way I do about Jude in the beginning. He does a little backsliding in the end, and, 𝘪𝘮𝘰, doesn't make up for it well enough, but if Molly forgives, I can deal.

Things I did like about Someone Just Like You:
- Yogi
- the sibling banter
- the banter between Jude and Molly when it wasn't meant meanly
- Esther's secret man and how happy he makes her
- the freedom Molly finds

Soon as I saw this cover, I knew I had to have this book…I mean, that color scheme!! ❤️❤️Then I read the premise and knew it would be cute. I wasn’t wrong.

This was a friend’s…errr, umm…enemies to…umm no that’s not right. Ok, it’s friends ⏭️ enemies ⏭️ lovers. There it is!

There were a few bombshells dropped over the course of this story. It’ll break your heart and put it back together again.

This isn’t a romcom, at least I don’t think so but was funny it was romance though. It was a cute story with a tiny bit of steam sprinkled in. Nothing major.

I’m a paralegal so a lot of the things that Molly aka Mole griped about when it came to her work, I was like Omg I so get that.

The characters were sweet and everyone was really likable. Literally, there wasn’t a single character that I didn’t like. Although I did wanna shake Molly when she turned into a nag for a little bit BUT I loved that the author gave a good backstory and foundation that gave you so much insight into why each person did the things they did.

Love enemies/rivals to lovers romances.
These two live near each other and have to help set up a venue for an event together. The other siblings/family friends are helping set up the rest but they are supposed to work together. But Jude has been pranking Molly since they were kids. She's retaliating but he instigates it.
Their forced proximity with the event planning and their interest in each other starts a romance. The thing I thought was funny was that they were dating people that were their rivals doppleganger. That either had the same occupation or looked eerily familiar to them. They had been searching for them but they were so opposite and so antagonistic that they never saw it until they were forced to go to back to back events with dates.
This was hilarious, there was a third act conflit and a break. But not quite a breakup it was just a rough patch and there was a prankish type grand gesture which just fits.
I did love Esther, her bestie and how the epilogue turned out with them in the future all happy.

What an absolutely delightful read by @meredithschorr! This enemies-to-lovers romcom is full of snarky banter, hilarious pranks, and plenty of swoon-y gazes from across the room. It was the perfect escape for my beach vacation.

Childhood rivals Molly and Jude grew up across the street from one another, their families extremely close, but Molly and Jude had a long history of pranks against each other.

When the kids of both families decide to throw their parents a combined anniversary party, Molly and Jude are tasked with choosing the venue... together.

I think this one had a good premise with lots of potential; I liked the dynamic between the families and the ways they shared history helped them to be more understanding to one another.

I do wonder if the story tried to do too much. There were a lot of sub plots that I'm not sure added to the overall story.
The pranks back and forth read immature and got tired after awhile, but once they gave into their attraction to each other, the story was much more enjoyable.

3.5! This book was enjoyable, but I found a lot of the characters to be super annoying at times.

Molly Blum is a former lawyer that changed career paths after 1 year to become a recruiter for other lawyers. She is the youngest of 3 sisters. Her parents are best friends with the Starks, who also have 3 kids, all boys around the same age as Molly and her sisters. The two families set up to surprise their parents for their milestone anniversaries. Molly gets set to help the youngest Stark in finding a venue. One problem, Molly can't stand Jude.

These two were best friends as small children, but then something happened and they became enemies. Will they be able to put their differences aside to get the perfect venue?

If you like enemies to lovers, you'll love this book. You've got some miscommunication in there as well as long-term friends, dogs, and many more reasons to like it. I found Molly to be obnoxious with her having to be perfect and plan everything, but I can see why she was the way that she was. Overall, it was good and I plan to read more from Schorr.

Thank you @getredprbooks and @readforeverpub for a gifted ebook.

📖 New Yorker Molly Blum knows everything about her lifelong nemesis, Jude Stark. With their families so close, they should have been best friends. Instead, she thinks he’s a too-charming slacker, and he thinks she’s allergic to fun. After years of one-upping each other’s pranks (chocolate-dipped cat treats are not as delicious as they appear), one high school joke went too far, and they stopped speaking completely. But now that they’re supposed to help plan a massive party for their parents—together—there’s no better time to resume their war.

And it is on. Only somewhere between all the sniping and harmless hijinks, a reluctant friendship develops, along with an unexpected spark of sexual tension. It might have to do with the fact that she’s been dating Jude-lookalikes and he’s been dating Molly doppelgangers. Or the fact that neither of them is nearly as horrible as they thought. All Molly and Jude know is that they’ve mastered the art of hating each other. Falling in love, on the other hand, is a whole new battlefield.

🙎🏻‍♀️🙎🏻‍♂️💕

I love enemies to lovers and it’s kind of fun that Molly and Jude grew up “hating” on each other. I did find their antics and pranks to be a little childish though, but maybe they were just harkening back to their childhood days.

The author did bring in some great secondary characters as well as developing Molly’s work struggles which helped to lift up the plot. And of course, any time Beatles’ songs are referenced - I’m a happy camper! This is a quirky romance, but I’ll definitely be reading more from this author.

Molly and Josh have been rivals since they were small children and the fact that they grew up across the street from one another and their families were best friends meant they had a lot of opportunities to antagonize each other. To celebrate both sets of parent’s anniversaries they kids decide to throw a large combined party and Molly and Josh get teamed up to do a lot of the leg work. Their forced proximity means they have ample time for their continued pranks but also means they get to reconnect. Their families are thrilled when they announce they’re together but the hurtful things they did to each other in the past still lingers.

I hate pranks. I don’t find them funny or cute especially in your 30s, so I struggled a bit with the beginning of the book when they were in full childhood rivalry mode, but luckily it didn’t last long. I really liked Molly. Here Family and work drama all felt very realistic and her desires came across really well. I liked Josh, but because the book was single-POV from Molly’s perspective, I didn’t feel as connected to him and I found myself really wishing I had a peek into his mind. I did like them together and was pleased with their HEA. I also really liked many of the side characters an found that they added to the story. I really really liked the pacing of the book. The book took place over sixish months and never dragged. I loved that the author knew when to skip time instead of making things drag on to fill the time, but the story never crossed the line into feeling choppy. I am looking forward to whatever Meredith writes next.

I loved the back and forth between Molly and Jude throughout the whole novel. I thought the pranks were funny and harmless. It wasn’t too hard to see the writing on the wall with them but I enjoyed the journey of them figuring it out.

If all of the childish pranks had been removed from this story I would have enjoyed it a lot more, but considering it was a major aspect of the plot, I wasn't really a fan. The pranks gave off a "if a boy is pulling your hair or calling you names, it's because he likes you" vibe. Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of Jude until the pranks stopped/slowed down and, even though Molly's prank had more serious consequences, it always felt like her pranks were more of a reaction to his immaturity and it made him come across as more of the bad guy in the situation.

Although I wasn't a fan of the pranks, I thought the writing was good and would absolutely read something else from this author.

This book was soooo cute!!!!! Childhood enemies turned lovers having to work together and overcome things. Loved the writing style of this author and it really made me understand and relate to the characters. First book from this author and is highly recommended.

Well this book was super fun! It’s a romcom that combines a lot of crowd favorite tropes.
Molly and Jude are complete opposites and childhood rivals as they are both the youngest siblings in two large Jewish families. Their families are very close and when all the siblings decide to throw a joint anniversary party for both their parents and families it throws Molly and Jude back into the same orbit. The kicker—despite years of loathing each other, they are both dating versions of the other person. This story was quite the journey as the rivals eventually call truce and fall for each other (but not without some bumps along the way).

The hero and the heroine were former neighbors in the past and has a relationship in which they pranked each other for most of their lives. When their siblings forced them to cooperate with each other to surprise their parents with a combined anniversary party. The hero and the heroine renewed their pranks against each other, but their feelings for each other began to change. As the two learn more about each other, thoughts of happy endings began to form. Can they put aside their rivalry to realize that the right person for themselves is right next to each other?

This is the second Meredith Schorr book that I've read. The premise sounded interesting, and for the most part, the story was enjoyable to read. However, it did feel that certain actions were prolonged unnecessarily, and it would have been nice to have some deeper communications enacted between the couple for the transition to their change in relationship to be believable. Certain actions by the hero and the heroine individually made the main characters not likable in those circumstances. But I liked this book a bit more than the first book I read from this author. Overall, a nice contemporary romance.

Someone Just Like You is the second book from Meredith Schorr, and one I found just as enjoyable as her first one, As Seen on TV. This time Schorr keeps us in the hustle and bustle of the city.

Molly and Jude were neighbors growing up, with their parents being friends. Molly and Jude were best friends when they were toddlers but slowly morphed into rivals and victims of each other's pranks as they got older. Jude was the popular athlete everyone liked, while Molly was the quiet, dependable girl.

The story takes place over several months, allowing for the relationship to morph and grow from rivals to friends to maybe more. Not only did the relationship grow, the characters did as well. Molly was stuck in the past, thinking she had to be the perfect person and adhere to the plans because things seemed to go wrong every time she didn't. Jude also has his own growth throughout the story.

There are some steamy bits, most of which are on the page. That said, they aren't overly graphic, more factual statements.

Overall, I would love to see Someone Just Like You adapted. Why? Because it is an entertaining read that I could see being adapted easily.

Do you enjoy reading books with childhood frenemies reuniting as adults? Then you should give Someone Just Like You a read.

A satisfying summer read that can be read year round. I am a long time fan of Meredith Schorr, and this book is one of her best yet. There is a main enemies to lovers theme supported by issues involving family dynamics, work, and friends.

I really enjoyed the audible version. It was very engaging.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance reader copy. I also purchased the audible book.

Molly Blum and Jude Stark are childhood rivals who are tasked with planning their parents’ anniversary party. Now that they are adults, they should be able to work together amicably — right? Wrong. Molly and Jude are thrown right back into their rivalry and each of them is determined to win the war.

This was a fun light-hearted story with one of my favorite romance tropes. Molly and Jude’s juvenile pranks had me rolling my eyes and wanting them to grow up, but that’s part of what makes the story so engaging. And it also allowed them to realize they had feelings for each other.

💜 enemies to lovers
💜 party planning
💜 Jewish representation
💜 goldendoodle 🐶

SOMEONE JUST LIKE YOU is a dynamic rom-com filled with shenanigans, family dynamics, and love.

This book was so cute and sweet! I really enjoyed watching Jude and Molly go from childhood nemeses to lovers. A perfect summer beach read!

I was looking forward to reading this one because I loved As Seen On TV, but unfortunately it was a total miss. Molly and Jude's immaturity along with their childish pranks quickly became annoying.
This behavior made it hard to believe they had any real connection, and by the end I didn't care if they were together or not.

On a positive note - I am willing to give this author another try since her debut novel will forever be one of my favorites!
