I should have remembered that Meredith Schorr has covers that I love and books that are just ok for me.

This was a quick, easy read. It’s mostly cute and fluffy, nothing too deep but overall enjoyable. I really liked Molly but I wasn’t crazy about her love interest, Jude…his immaturity was ‘ew, no’ more often than ‘haha funny’ for me and it kinda ruined any desire to really root for them but I didn’t hate how things worked out and it got less ‘ew, no’ as it went on.

Beatles jokes/puns abound, so if you’re a fan that’s probably a fun little thing…personally, I can’t stand them or their music so I only got maybe half the jokes and just didn’t care enough to look up the references I didn’t get but there were…a lot.

I was definitely more invested in the side arc with her career…and was definitely one hundred percent picturing Michael as the douchey boss in Office Space. Her friendship with Esther was really sweet and I would happily read a book from Esther’s perspective. The family scenes were fun and heartwarming also, especially her visit to her Nani. So there was a lot more happening than just the romance aspect, which I think is why my dislike of Jude didn’t ruin the book for me.

Overall, I would definitely pick up another book from this author. I think the one character was just a miss for me but the writing and overall story in general, I enjoyed.

As someone who is currently in the mood for a good romcom and enemies to lovers, Someone Just Like You hits the spot. The MCs declared war at age 6, followed with pranks, insults and revenge. I enjoyed myself reading this book up until the end where the emotions were up and down, quite literally pulled on my heartstrings. Jude and Molly forever.

We were lucky enough to get an ARC for Someone Just like you! It follows Molly and Jude, childhood friends turned enemies, one of our favourite tropes!

With their families so close, it’s hard to avoid each other. She thinks he’s too charming and everything comes easy to him. He thinks she’s allergic to fun and is stuck in her plans. For years they pranked each other until one went too far. But now their siblings have tasked them with finding the venue for the joint anniversary party they are throwing their parents. Spending time together again has reignited the desire to prank each other, and maybe their attraction 😉.

A few thoughts on the pranking: Their pranks were a little stressful. There’s a difference between practical jokes and mean pranks, they straddled that line for too long. It was hard to get into their chemistry while they were pranking but once a truce (that stuck) was made, the story picked up.

Overall this was a fun book to read. We liked that everyone noticed Molly and Jude had been dating people very similar to each other (if not their doppelgängers), and were completely oblivious to it. Spending time together (as adults) opened their eyes to the people they both have become. They see each other more clearly than they see themselves. The growth as individuals and as a couple is what kept us reading. You always root for the enemies to become lovers!

This is a gem of a book! Besides the fact that I absolutely loved the pranks main characters Molly and Jude plan against the other in the story, this was a really relatable and adorable book. I really felt similar to Molly in the ways she took care of her family (though she's the youngest and I'm the oldest). The side characters were cute, though not super developed. The romance was well paced with a fantastic ending. Oh, and the Jewish representation 😍. Do I recommend this book? HECK YES! Thank you to Netgalley and Forever Publishing for the advanced copy.

I DNF'd at 25%. I found the dialogue to be very flat and Jude feels like the kind of guy who would cake his wife's face at their wedding. It was just a little too cringe for me.

Big Thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC to read and review!

I am a big romance and Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes! So Someone Just Like You felt RIGHT up my alley!

And while it was enjoyable enough, it felt a little predictable to me. I flew through it, but that was partially because it was a bit flat as opposed to me enjoying it so much I couldn't put it down.

For me, the best romances are the ones with a lot of character development and where the happily ever after feels earned. This one fell a little short on that front, unfortunately.

A perfectly enjoyable romance, but one that I wanted a bit more from.

Someone Just Like You is a contemporary romance/rom-com.

When I first saw this cover I could not figure out if there were two couples or if the cover featured the same couple. But after reading the book I actually find this cover so perfect!

The narrator is 27 year old Molly. She is a lawyer who now works as a recruiter. I really liked her. And I did end up really liking the romance. However I am one of the few people who doesn't love the enemies to lovers trope. And I really do not enjoy pranks and childish behavior. But once they started acting like adults I enjoyed this book so much more.

Molly and Jude end up having to organize something with their siblings. I liked how both families were super close. And the family drama added a lot to the story.

I really enjoyed the Jewish rep. Although I actually wanted more. I'm glad that we did get a bit more in the second half of the book.

Overall this was a quick read. Definitely read it if you love a good swoony romance filled with banter and a couple who can't stand each other!

This was a really fun enemies to lovers romance featuring the grown children of two big Jewish families who have grown up next door to one another and come together to help plan a surprise wedding anniversary for both sets of parents.

Youngest siblings and childhood rivals, Molly and Jude get assigned the task of finding a venue for the party since both live in New York City. This forces them to spend time together for the first time in several years and ends up with them reviving their juvenile prank wars.

The line between love and hate is a thin one though and along the way Jude and Molly realize they may have been seeking each other out unknowingly all of their lives, leading to a hot night together and an almost too quick jump into a relationship that has rocky results.

I loved the cast of secondary characters, the pranks and the emotional depth in this story!! Jude and Molly had great chemistry and a shared history that helped make up for the somewhat insta-love plot twist. Both characters deal with personal issues and career changes which made for a well-rounded story in my opinion.

EXCELLENT on audio narrated by Justis Bolding and definitely recommended for fans of the author's last book (which while connected is also good as a standalone read). Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

3 ⭐️

this is a good enemies to lovers romance! “enemies” is a little bit of a stretch because really these two are just constantly picking on each other and playing pranks, so their dynamic was almost more sibling like. i think that’s part of why i didn’t rate it higher, i wish i could’ve connected a little more emotionally with their relationship. but i still thought it was a good romance overall and would recommend!

thank you to netgalley and forever for this eARC. this book is out now!

Jude and Molly’s families have been best friends for years - but Jude and Molly have been rivals and do not get along. When their siblings force them to work together to throw a surprise joint anniversary party for their parents, they find they might have more in common than they thought. Even more amusing, is they each keep dating people who look exactly like each other…which points out a physical attraction they have each been ignoring for years.

I love a childhood friends (in this case to enemies) to lovers moment, so I was excited for this book. There were parts I really enjoyed, but overall the book felt as if their relationship was stuck in their childhood/teenage years. Jude and Molly were super immature at times and handled many situations poorly. I wanted to love this one, but since I struggled to root for the main characters, it ended up falling a bit flat for me.

Thank you to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for the advance copy..

Someone Just Like You is an enemies to lovers romance. Molly and Jude are tasked with finding the perfect venue for their parents’ joint anniversary party. Their childhood pranks on each other continue through the beginning of this book. Thankfully those pranks fade away as Molly and Jude realize they like each other more and more. I wasn’t enjoying the pranks at the beginning but once I got past those, the rest of the book picked up and I enjoyed it!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC.

Molly Blum and Jude Stark couldn't be closer growing up - until one fateful day when Molly dropped Jude's hand in front of everybody and declared that boys were gross. After that, Molly and Jude decide to hate one another and through a series of pranks/one ups their relationship is never the same again.

Fast forward twenty-something years later and nothing much has changed - they're still the best of enemies. When the Blum and Stark siblings come together to plan a joint party for their parents, Molly and Jude are tasked with finding the venue and it doesn't take long for the prank war to reignite.

I thought the romance between Jude and Molly was mostly sweet, but at times I wasn't really sure if I could root for them. I thought it was hilarious that neither one realized they kept dating eachother's doppelgängers, but it seemed like that realization was the catalyst for them getting together. The author spent a lot of time moving the story forward (days/weeks would pass), but in doing so we didn't get to see much of their falling in love montage. We also spent so much time in the beginning during the party planning, but then the ending was a bit chaotic and full of drama.

Overall this was a quick read and would recommend if you're looking for something lighter. I really enjoyed the Jewist representation and the prank war - I wish we had seen more. Even though I didn't love this one I would definitely read from this author again.

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever for a review copy.

Meredith Schorr knocks it out of the park again!

Someone Just Like You is an enemies to lovers rom com set in New York City. Schorr, as usual, writes a story that draws you in, and takes you on a journey that will make you feel all the feels, and does it with a dash of humor a little bit of spice.
I enjoyed this book so much! I loved watching Jude and Molly work through their relationship, and how you could see how much they truly cared for each other.
I would recommend this book for any rom-com fan, or those that love the enemies to lovers trope, or for anyone who just wants to read a really wonderful book

First and foremost HAPPY PUB DAY!
The story of Molly Blum and Jude Stark. When it comes to "Someone Just Like You" I can say it would be childhood friends to frienemies to actual enemies (I don't want to spill the complete story, you know spoilers are not for me in this book.)

The only reason they had to come together and be in each other's presence is for the sake of their parent's anniversary party that they were planning with the help of their siblings of course. Since they are the only adults that are not married or have kids they got the task that was going to take the most work and that would be finding the venue. You would think it was something as simple as doing that but when it comes to Molly and Jude pranks are a big thing in this book. Did I mind the prank not really it brought the book together and it brought the connection between the two main characters throughout the story.

Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr is sadly the first book I read from. this author and I'm mad at myself that I haven't picked up anything else from her because this book brought me actual joy. It was one of those books that you have to keep reading in order to know exactly what is going to happen next because to me it wasn't predictable like other books I've read before.

The enemies-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites which is probably why I enjoyed this a lot. However, the pranks they did to one another made it different and stand out to me. It's an enchanting tale about forgiveness in forging our happy endings.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to get the advanced arc. It was one of those books that I couldn't put down. 4 out of 5 Stars for me.

Happy Reading my people! Defitnely add it to your TBR.

Hilarious NYC-Based Rom-Com. This book has several different things going on at once, which can seem a bit chaotic - and seems to be meant to. The base setup, of two sets of siblings planning a joint anniversary party for both sets of parents, is chaotic enough. Then you throw in the actual romance here, of a boy and girl who almost literally grew up together and have a lifetime of bickering with each other and pranking each other behind them (which we get to see a lot of), and it becomes a recipe for... well, everything. The love is deep and heartfelt - even as neither of them realizes it. The comedy, both in the past and present, is pure gold. The drama... is both real (parents) and Hallmarkie (romance) and yet also comedic (a famous movie that has been remade at least twice, but revealing which one reveals things about the book). Overall, it hits all the genre "rules" and while it isn't for the "sweet"/ "clean" crowd, also isn't anywhere near erotica level either. In fact, as others have mentioned (both positively and negatively), the first "encounter" is rather comedic (and, I would argue, *real*).

At the end of the day, this is one of those kinds of books where your mileage really will vary. If you love zany "what the fuck" stories with a LOT of side characters and all kinds of stuff happening all around the main storyline, you're going to love this book. The more you have a problem with that kind of setup, the less you're going to enjoy this one.

Overall, I thought this was freaking hilarious and truly well done. Very much recommended.

Jude and Molly have always been enemies since childhood. They now keep their distance after pranking each other too many times. Their families decided to bring them back together for a celebration of both their parents.

The two start right where they left off with the pranks and humiliation tactics. But as they spend more time together, the friendship slowly builds. They discover that they may like each other more than they were willing to admit. However, once the romance kicks in, their old habits kick in. Can they stop trying to outdo one another long enough to realize that they are better off as a team?

I love a good enemies-to-lovers trope, but this falls short. There is no way around it. I didn’t connect with this book the way I wanted to. This is supposed to be my jam, and almost immediately, I knew I wasn’t going to like the story. However, I held out hope because I knew the characters would make it right by the end, but sadly, they didn’t.

Jude and Molly have this intense need to one-up the other in their pranks and jokes. I think this could have been done in good taste. However, the two characters are very immature. I don’t like reading a story where the main characters are just spiteful and immature. I half expected that they would change rather quickly, but it took too long, and they still continued to act quite childish.

Overall, if you like an enemies-to-lovers romance with a lot of drama between the main characters, this is for you.

Let me start by saying I ADORED this book. The nostalgic storyline between childhood enemies to lovers was nothing short of perfect and very relatable for this millennial reader, not to mention the Jewish representation.
.
I cannot express how lovely and comforting to read a book with Jewish characters that is NOT a historical fiction but instead a modern day love story.
.
This story had everything from laugh out loud humor, the perfect “aww” moments and a couple of spicy scenes. It is a very well balanced romance which showed healthy female friendship and (what felt like) a very true family perspective.
.
I particularly loved that our MC Molly was also a career woman finding her way in the world beyond her love life.
.
Overall, this novel is going up as one of my favorite romance reads and I definitely recommend reading this one

This book was so cute! Jude and Molly have known each other their whole lives. They've also been rivals their whole lives. Living across the street from one another means they know each other well enough to know just how to push the other's buttons. As adults, it's easier to deal with since they are no longer living so close together; however, when their siblings force them to work together to plan a joint anniversary party for their parents, Jude and Molly find that things haven't changed as much as they thought.

Pranks and jabs feel familiar. What doesn't feel familiar is the attraction each finds in one another the more they work together. The history these two have makes their budding friendship so special. Enemies turned friends turned lovers, their familiarity and shared experiences lead to a chemistry that is tough to deny. I laughed so many times throughout the book and really enjoyed seeing these two find their way to one another. Their families and friends enhance the story instead of detract from it. It was great to see Molly find her way in her career while Jude's job as a bartender is hard to resist. The setting in NYC is great. Schorr does a great job of putting the book in a large city while still making you feel as if you are in a small town.

If you are a fan of either enemies to lovers or friends to lovers, this one will work for you as it hits all aspects. I would recommend this one to fans of Helena Hunting or Jen Morris.
