What a fun rom-com! I really like Meredith Schorr’s writing style. She has the perfect amount of fun and steam. I do recommend this book for a quick and entertaining read!

Molly Blum cannot stand Jude Stark. Since elementary school, he’s lived to torture her, whether that’s recording embarrassing videos of her and broadcasting them or running against her for student council—and winning. For Jude, the feeling’s mutual. Now, as adults, the childhood enemies must come together to help their respective siblings plan a surprise anniversary dinner for both their parents. What could go wrong?

I was drawn in by this story pretty quickly. It has good pacing and enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. Molly is a fun and relatable heroine and the cast of supporting characters are all enjoyable as well. My main problem is with the mmc, Jude, and his and Molly’s romance.

The build up to the two getting together is great—the sarcastic banter, the hijinks, the tension, everything. But everything leads to nothing. There is no payoff, no spark. It never crosses the line from enemies to lovers. Jude’s mean and Molly is way more into him than he is into her; he simply tolerates her presence. She does all of the heavy lifting in their relationship and although they both made bad decisions that hurt one another, she seems like the only one that’s genuinely sorry. He holds her mistakes over her head.

I would’ve liked dual POV to get inside his head because I do somewhat understand where he was coming from, but still. These two are not good together.

Jude and Molly are perfect for each other. They just don’t know it yet. The chemistry between these two characters was amazing even when they fought and continuously tried to one-up each other. The character brought out the best in each other (and yes sometimes the worst). There were so many laugh out loud moments. In an effort to not spoil anything I’ll say “Someone just like you” perfected the rivals to lovers trope.

I absolutely loved Meredith's previous book - As Seen on TV, so when I saw she had a knew one coming it was a must read. Unfortunately I was slightly disappointed.
Molly and Jude started out as friends when they were kids, but in a quick turn of events became enemies. From then until adulthood, they pranked each other constantly. Now, they are in their late 20's and their siblings have thrown them together to plan their parents joint anniversary party. Cue the pranking again....
I am not a huge fan of pranking.. Jude also was so hard to like and didn't redeem himself in my eyes making this one a miss for me. I adored the writing style and loved Molly.

This was such a great book!

First off, the cover is GORGEOUS! Second, I’m a huge fan of enemies to lovers trope.
Follow Molly and Judy (childhood ex-friends) as they plan their parents combined anniversary party.

This book has everything: NYC, dogs, love, and friends/family.

Do yourself a favor and read it when it comes out July 25, 2023!

This book was great! I couldn't put it down! The premise was fresh and new, which is hard for me to say as I read so much each year! Sometimes it feels as though I keep reading similar stories, but this was a so original!

This book had such a good premise and enemies to lovers trope! I loved the beginning and the building up of their relationship, and the slow realization of feelings. I also love a good “she calls her enemy to come help her when she’s sick moment.” 🤍 I also very much identified with Molly as the people pleasing, planner, baby of the family.

Unfortunately the second half fell a little short for me. I personally did not like that their relationship had not one but two big “falling apart” moments. The physical aspect and the start of their relationship felt too much too soon and very awkward to me. I didn’t buy their relationship at that point.
I liked this book, but I just wish I could say I loved it.

This is the first childhood rivals to lovers I’ve read, and it’s safe to say this is a trope I’d like to revisit! Molly and Jude are well written foils for each other. I enjoyed their banter and their obliviousness to their attraction to each other at first. The Type A gal and the laidback guy dynamic is a tale as old as time, and I enjoy it every time. Especially when a prank war is involved!
My criticism of the book lays with the pacing. What I thought was the third act “breakup and makeup” turned out to be the first of two. I was shocked when I saw how much of the book I still had left! In the end it served the plot but it just felt like a great deal of conflict for a romance. But all’s well that ends well, and it certainly ended well.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Molly and Jude’s banter made this book. It was so quick witted and kept the story moving so well. It was great to watch them navigate their feelings and towards each other. You could feel he tension when reading. I also loved their friends and their involvement in the story. Plus the epilogue was cute!

This was a fun, charming read. It moved quickly and I wanted to know how it all played out.

4.5 stars. i really really loved this story! enemies to lovers since basically birth, forced proximity, all the things i love. i think the only reason i am hesitant to give it a full 5 stars is because it almost felt like there was resolution really early in the book until the 3rd act breakup and then it was almost over and i was nervous i wasn’t going to get my HEA and it eas for real 😭. it ended up okay though, i think i was just nervous haha. i liked the writing style of this author a lot and i am excited to read more from her!

thank you so much for the ARC of this novel!

Jude and Molly are notorious for accidentally dating doppelgängers of eachother. The two childhood nemeses are forced to work together as they help plan a joint anniversary party to celebrate each of their parents. It’s time to put away a decade of pranks and snark as Jude and Molly navigate their newfound spark. But will their present connection be enough to move on from their tumultuous past?

This book had a cute enemies to lovers premise and the author did a good job building up the tension between the two characters. One thing I didn't care for in the book was that it seemed to run on long and there were too many make up and breakups and conflicts going on to keep me interested so by the time I finished I got bored of the story and just wanted it to be over.

This book was fun to read abd the characters were well loved. If you like a good love story you will like this story. You won't be disappointed. This book was approved by netgalley and the publisher for me to read and review.

Too repetitive and juvenile for me. There was no spark to the romance and the cringe factor eliminated any spice.

The Stark and Blum families have been friends and neighbors for the kids' entire lives. The kids were always friends - except the youngest two.
Molly has been the goody two shoes, with a perfect plan and everything organized. Jude was an aspiring baseball player until a mishap damaged his knee but he's pivoted into being a bartender and sommelier for a popular restaurant in NYC. Since their grade school days they've been compared and constantly in a battle of pranks.
When the siblings decide to throw a joint anniversary party for their sets of parents, Jude and Molly get thrown together to find a location for the party. After several pranks, and understanding born out of the unwillingness to ruin the party, slowly the family history they thought they knew starts morphing into a true friendship. But will it stop there?

Enjoyable story of how judgements are made without knowing all aspects of a story, and how communication can change past wrongs. It was kind of nice to see both characters develop, learn, and change through the story.

This was the first book I’ve read by Meredith Schorr but it definitely won’t be the last!

Jude and Molly are childhood friends turned enemies. They used to be best friends until becoming rivals in elementary school. Molly is very Type A and has to plan everything out while Jude is Type B and goes with the flow. Jude loved to play pranks on Molly and Molly always retaliated. Since graduating high school, Molly has done her best to avoid Jude. However, now they are forced to work together to plan a party and of course Jude starts up with the pranks again and Molly can’t resist getting him back.

I’m a huge fan of enemies to lovers so I really enjoyed this book. This was a cute story and I thought the pacing was great. I liked the scenes when all the siblings were together and picked on the “juniors”. If you’re a fan of childhood friends/rivals, enemies to lovers, I highly recommend!

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the arc!

Loved this book so much! I adored the relationship between Jude and Molly, all of the Beatles references, and the corny moments. It was the perfect book to read on a plane!

Someone Just Like You is a feel-good rom-com with the perfect happily ever after.

Vibes:
- childhood friends
- enemies to lovers
- NYC setting
- opposites attract
- banter & pranks abound

Molly and Jude are the youngest sibling in their families and have been neighbors as well as family friends since birth. They are tasked with finding a venue for a joint anniversary party for both sets of parents. They can barely get along but somehow find a way to work together. All along Molly and Jude’s family/friends point out how they are dating clones of their sworn enemy but of course Molly and Jude can’t see it.
During their venue search, Molly begins to “notice” attributes she never noticed on Jude. She sees a sensitive side she’s never seen and now she’s having random thoughts about him.

As a risk-averse planner, people pleaser and Type A person myself, I could definitely relate to Molly. She likes control and loves her structured life. Jude is more of a go with the flow, spontaneous free spirit and that’s hard for her. What isn’t hard? Their pranks and banter which adds such a fun element to the book.

If you’re looking for an easy going read with good pacing, a few twists and turns and a great HEA then Someone Just Like You is your book!

Thank you NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the ARC!

Molly Blum has spent a lifetime hating Jude Stark. Their parents have been best friends since the pair were in diapers, so when they’re tasked with co-planning their joint anniversary, bickering and pranks ensue. It isn’t until their family points out that they’re dating each other’s doppelgängers that they realize there's a fine line between hate and love. This book was so charming and funny, and I was so thrilled to read an early copy!
