This was such a fun and cute book! The vibes were immaculate, the pacing was great for a cozy read but also kept me hooked page after page. I loved it!

Meredith Schorr is an auto buy author for me, and Someone Just Like You is another reason why. There is something about Schorr’s writing that is instantly relatable, enjoyable, and she makes you fall in love with her characters immediately.
I would highly recommend SJLY to all of my friends!

3.5 stars. This enemies to lovers rom-com is full of banter and tension, secrets and truths. In childhood, Molly and Jude started out as best friends, but then something happened and they became sworn enemies. The difficulty is that their families are very close, and the siblings decide they should all band together to throw their parents a joint surprise anniversary party.
You will root for Molly and Jude, as they work together to find the perfect venue. Since their relationship from childhood has always been about the pranks they would pull on each other, it does get a bit tiresome when the pranking continues between them as adults. Some of the pranks have a slightly mean tone to them, and this reader began to get a bit annoyed by their childishness.
I did enjoy the way Molly and Jude began to soften and then realized they did have romantic feelings. The way this tension builds and then is explored is what I liked about this story. Also how secrets are best shared, even though it’s difficult and scary, so the underlying issues can be resolved and relationships come out stronger on the other side. There is a subplot revealed when the surprise party doesn’t have the desired result, and I liked the emotions and ideals explored through it.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for the electronic advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

The pranks were next-level with inventiveness and creativity, and the chemistry was off-the-charts. Loved it.

3.5 stars rounded up... Contrary to a lot of other reviews, I actually really enjoyed the first half of the novel with all of Molly and Jude's pranks and banter, and overall, I enjoyed the way things panned out. My struggle with this one is for sure "it's not the book, it's just me" because I very much could not relate to Molly at all. Every decision she made was probably the opposite of something I'd do. I definitely think its a hallmark of good writing to feel this strongly about a character - especially because I think that if it was written from the other POV or even dual POV I'd be all over this. I really did enjoy the childhood rivals to lovers plotline, the family dynamics were great, plus Molly had an actual best friend and not just some 2D plot device.
If you enjoy golden doodles, pop culture laced banter, and doppelgangers, I'd say give this a go!

Someone Just Like You has an addictive writing style and an FMC you can root for. However, the incessant pranks from adults and the third-act breakup did this book a disservice.
If you're an adult--then act like one. The FMC and MMC in this novel were stuck in a vicious cycle from their childhood. The cycle could easily have been broken, but instead of breaking it, they fell back into it again and again. This was especially frustrating because the pranks came from a mean and hateful place--not a good-natured one. This made the eventual romance unbelievable for me as a reader.
The third-act breakup was understandable in this book, but I thought the whole situation was too sticky and was resolved too easily all things considered.
I would consider reading more from this author, but this book was not it for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc for an honest review.

Dating others to help replicate the feeling that “the one” gives you is a trope I can’t really get into. Just be honest and tell the gal/guy how ya feel! Jude and Molly grew up together and constantly ribbed one another with prank after prank. This being mentioned over and over in an adult novel was just sort of meh for the plot, but I get why it was mentioned. Yet, could we just move on to the here and now and focus on being grown ups? I also didn’t love how the kids treated the parents as though they were children, too. Just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. Overall, it wasn’t a bad book of friends to lovers, just not one I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to all. Thanks for the opportunity to read!

Someone Like You by Meredith Schorr is a combination of opposites-attract and enemies to lovers that is quite fun and funny if you enjoy pranks and silly, fun romance. This is not a serious novel and it is not meant to be taken in such a serious manner, which I love. While it addresses some serious and tough issues along the way it also tells the story of falling in love through a lifetime of pranks and animosity.
Molly Blum and her neighbor and family friend Jude Stark grew up more or less hating each other. Molly was the "good" girl and Jude was always getting in trouble and thus a lifetime of pranking began. Skip to adulthood and their families are planning an event for both sets of parents and Molly and Jude are paired up to find a venue. Let's just say that neither has changed much and the pranks continue. They continue until the pair realize the reason behind the pranking.
Read this light-hearted fun, romance novel that revolves around some fun pranks and a little romance. Also Molly's BFF might be the best!

This book was way better than her debut. I think for me a lot of it was how much more I felt I related to the characters. Such a good push and pull and just an interesting journey to the main characters getting together.

Molly and Jude were friends once upon a time, but eventually, their friendship turned them into nemeses. Molly has also been hiding a secret about her response to how their friendship ended. Additionally, all this time, they have been dating carbon copies of each other while denying they like each other. It's a fun, entertaining, and relatable friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romance.

An enemies to lovers romance trope. Easy read but full of childish pranks. Miscommunication and more pranks.

Honestly I didn’t like this book. It just wasn’t for me, I think. I thought the main character was very immature. I did enjoy the second chance romance rep. It does have Jewish rep and includes some Hanukkah celebration.

What an absolutely delightful, romantic read! Meredith Schorr has a highly engaging writing style and the banter between Jude and Molly made the book utterly enjoyable. This book hooked me from start to finish, which was a short journey because I couldn't put this book down ; )
Molly and Jude are childhood friends turned rivals. I really enjoyed watching them enjoy the nostalgia of their past and navigate their feelings toward each other as adults.
A great read for fans of enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance. Huge thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the digital review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

This is my second Meredith Schorr book, and I think it’s better than the first! This one was more lively than the first, and I greatly enjoyed the rivals-to-lovers aspect. The banter between the pair was entertaining, and their mutual attraction was believable.

Molly and Jude have been rivals their whole lives. When they are forced to come together to help plan their parents anniversary party their childhood prank war resumes. But now they start to realize the line between love and hate is a lot thinner with time and there may have been more behind their rivalry the whole time.
I wanted to love this book but unfortunately it fell flat for me. The premise was so good. I mean rivals/enemies forced to work together who realize they were looking for each other in other people the whole time? Sounds like a slam dunk. But the characters were so immature and their pranks were not really amusing or entertaining. I found it hard to root for them when all I really wanted was for them to grow up.
If this had been a YA romance I think I would have vibed with it better but I had such a hard time connecting with the main characters that I ended up feeling ambivalent about their romance.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr.

3.5 stars rounded up.
I was so excited by the premise of this. I love romances between two people who knew each other when they were kids. Plus the idea that they've been dating carbon copies of each other despite their mutual 'hatred' is so funny and unique that I couldn't resist picking this up.
Unfortunately, some of the execution fell through. I enjoyed reading this but didn't find myself rooting for the couple as much as I should have. One of the fights went a bit too far, in my opinion, and I personally would not have been able to move past some of the things that were said.
However, I love Meredith Schorr's writing style, and I'll definitely read more by her in the future. This one just fell a bit short for me.

This story was very charming and fun, but sometimes I forget how frustrating the enemies to lovers trope is! However, the writing and organization is great and if you like that kind of tension you’ll enjoy this book.

This book was adorable! The story of childhood best friends to enemies to lovers held my heart the entire book. The pranks that were pulled on each other current day, and / or reminisced about had me chuckling and considering pulling some on my children and husband. I really enjoyed the way this story unfolded and we were slowly showed Molly and Jude's history that led to where they are currently with their friendship. The struggle they both faced keeping their feelings for each other jumped off the pages. Schorr did a fantastic job at making me FEEL what they were and it made me devour the book faster than I have in months with an e-book.
I recommend if you are a romcom lover!

This was a little contrived for my taste and therefore hard to really get into. There were sweet moments where I had hope and wanted to love it more than I ended up.
