Someone Like You by Meredith Schorr is a combination of opposites-attract and enemies to lovers that is quite fun and funny if you enjoy pranks and silly, fun romance. This is not a serious novel and it is not meant to be taken in such a serious manner, which I love. While it addresses some serious and tough issues along the way it also tells the story of falling in love through a lifetime of pranks and animosity.
Molly Blum and her neighbor and family friend Jude Stark grew up more or less hating each other. Molly was the "good" girl and Jude was always getting in trouble and thus a lifetime of pranking began. Skip to adulthood and their families are planning an event for both sets of parents and Molly and Jude are paired up to find a venue. Let's just say that neither has changed much and the pranks continue. They continue until the pair realize the reason behind the pranking.
Read this light-hearted fun, romance novel that revolves around some fun pranks and a little romance. Also Molly's BFF might be the best!
This book was way better than her debut. I think for me a lot of it was how much more I felt I related to the characters. Such a good push and pull and just an interesting journey to the main characters getting together.
Molly and Jude were friends once upon a time, but eventually, their friendship turned them into nemeses. Molly has also been hiding a secret about her response to how their friendship ended. Additionally, all this time, they have been dating carbon copies of each other while denying they like each other. It's a fun, entertaining, and relatable friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romance.
An enemies to lovers romance trope. Easy read but full of childish pranks. Miscommunication and more pranks.
Honestly I didn’t like this book. It just wasn’t for me, I think. I thought the main character was very immature. I did enjoy the second chance romance rep. It does have Jewish rep and includes some Hanukkah celebration.
What an absolutely delightful, romantic read! Meredith Schorr has a highly engaging writing style and the banter between Jude and Molly made the book utterly enjoyable. This book hooked me from start to finish, which was a short journey because I couldn't put this book down ; )
Molly and Jude are childhood friends turned rivals. I really enjoyed watching them enjoy the nostalgia of their past and navigate their feelings toward each other as adults.
A great read for fans of enemies-to-lovers and second chance romance. Huge thanks to NetGalley and Forever for the digital review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is my second Meredith Schorr book, and I think it’s better than the first! This one was more lively than the first, and I greatly enjoyed the rivals-to-lovers aspect. The banter between the pair was entertaining, and their mutual attraction was believable.
Molly and Jude have been rivals their whole lives. When they are forced to come together to help plan their parents anniversary party their childhood prank war resumes. But now they start to realize the line between love and hate is a lot thinner with time and there may have been more behind their rivalry the whole time.
I wanted to love this book but unfortunately it fell flat for me. The premise was so good. I mean rivals/enemies forced to work together who realize they were looking for each other in other people the whole time? Sounds like a slam dunk. But the characters were so immature and their pranks were not really amusing or entertaining. I found it hard to root for them when all I really wanted was for them to grow up.
If this had been a YA romance I think I would have vibed with it better but I had such a hard time connecting with the main characters that I ended up feeling ambivalent about their romance.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced copy of Someone Just Like You by Meredith Schorr.
3.5 stars rounded up.
I was so excited by the premise of this. I love romances between two people who knew each other when they were kids. Plus the idea that they've been dating carbon copies of each other despite their mutual 'hatred' is so funny and unique that I couldn't resist picking this up.
Unfortunately, some of the execution fell through. I enjoyed reading this but didn't find myself rooting for the couple as much as I should have. One of the fights went a bit too far, in my opinion, and I personally would not have been able to move past some of the things that were said.
However, I love Meredith Schorr's writing style, and I'll definitely read more by her in the future. This one just fell a bit short for me.
This story was very charming and fun, but sometimes I forget how frustrating the enemies to lovers trope is! However, the writing and organization is great and if you like that kind of tension you’ll enjoy this book.
This book was adorable! The story of childhood best friends to enemies to lovers held my heart the entire book. The pranks that were pulled on each other current day, and / or reminisced about had me chuckling and considering pulling some on my children and husband. I really enjoyed the way this story unfolded and we were slowly showed Molly and Jude's history that led to where they are currently with their friendship. The struggle they both faced keeping their feelings for each other jumped off the pages. Schorr did a fantastic job at making me FEEL what they were and it made me devour the book faster than I have in months with an e-book.
I recommend if you are a romcom lover!
This was a little contrived for my taste and therefore hard to really get into. There were sweet moments where I had hope and wanted to love it more than I ended up.
I liked this book for a lot of reasons. I like the way author Meredith Schorr writes.
I like a nostalgic story about lifelong families being friends. I like friends to lovers.
I’m not the biggest fan of enemies to lovers.
So in most ways I enjoyed this book.
Well done! I will definitely read the author’s other book now.
Thankyou to author Meredith Schorr, Netgalley and Forever publishing for the opportunity to read this book in advance of the publication date.

Books set in NYC are my jam, and who doesn’t love a childhood enemies-to-lovers pair! I was all set up to love Molly and Jude right from the very start, but ultimately their story just missed the mark a little bit for me. The pranks were cute, but each time their apparent hilarity had to be explained even when I would have gotten it anyway. I wish Schorr had trusted the reader just a little bit more.

I had a difficult time relating to the pranks that Molly and Jude pulled on each other while trying to plan their parents’ anniversary party. They seemed childish and frankly rude to some of the vendors they were meeting with. I wish they had left some of that immaturity in the past and rather were having more fun teasing each other as adults. As their relationship furthered, I enjoyed the character growth and was ultimately rooting for them to work things out. I’ll continue to try Schorr’s work in the future even if this one wasn’t a perfect fit for me.
I really loved this book as I have with all of Meredith Schorr’s novels i’ve read. I found it to be so fun and unexpected and a really great story.
I love this author and this one didn't disappoint! It was such a cute book and I thought the characters were great. I can't wait to see what Meredith Schorr writes next.
This was a fun easy read. It’s definitely on the lighter side. The characters often felt far younger than their mid twenties.
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing), NetGalley and Meredith Schorr for the advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Molly and Jude have known each other since birth, once best friends as toddlers turned enemies in adolescence. Always trying to prank each other and having arguments every time their families get together. Until they have to work together to help plan a surprise anniversary party for their parents.
I loved the friends to enemies to lovers trope in the book. I would love to see a book from Esther's point of view!
