This is the fourth Sinister Summer book and we continue with them twins and Wil in search of their pate . They end up at the Stein manor still trying to solve all the mysteries they come upon.

The writing is so fanatic and gives me great summer camp vibes. I absolutely love this series and highly recommend all the books so far! Thank you Netgalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I so enjoy these books. The characters are fun, the Sinister-Winterbottoms, the Blood sisters, Edgar, Quincy, and now Henry too. It's a big cast but easy to keep each person straight since everyone is so different and we mostly follow Theo and Alexander on the adventures.

This installment was Frankenstein-themed and we're so close to finding out where the parents went and what exactly is going on. The kids are all working together to piece everything together and I like that they all have individual strengths. There's also a couple of crushes too and it's adorable.

I'm sad there's only one more book, but so excited to see how it all ends!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to Delacorte Press and NetGalley for the copy.

In this, the fourth book in The Sinister Summer Series, the action is somewhat more low-keyed than the three previous books. Things finally seem to be going favorably for the three siblings and their friends until, suddenly, danger rears its head with an unexpected twist, leaving Menacing Manor with a cliffhanger ending. Can't wait to find out what challenges lie ahead for the Sinister-Winterbottom siblings in the upcoming fifth and final book in this series. Knowing this author, I'm sure that something sensational is in the works (those secrets being guarded by her ferocious tortoise, Kimberly, as described in the Author's Note at the end of this novel.)

This series has been so much fun! Unfortunately, I somehow missed the release of book 3 so there were parts that I didn't fully understand. This is definitely a series that requires you to read all the books in order to fully understand the characters and events. I was able to piece together enough from the references to the last book in order to keep up with everything, but I wish I had the whole story to refer back to (I will definitely be going back to read it as soon as I get my hands on a copy). This book continues the theme of recreating horror classics - this time with Frankenstein. What the author has done so well throughout the series is keep you on your toes as to who can be trusted and who is one of the bad guys. You can certainly understand why the kids have so much trouble doing so themselves. I also love how each of the characters brings their own unique talent and expertise to the team. Menacing Manor ends on a cliffhanger that will make you wish you had book 5 available right away.

The fourth Sinister Summer book finds Theo, Alexander, and Wil along with their friends continue their quest to find their missing parents. The end up at the Stein manor with the mysterious Mr. Frank trying to scare them away.

I received an electronic ARC from Random House Children's Publishing through NetGalley.
The adventures continue as the Sinister-Winterbottom children and their friends make it to Science Camp. This fourth book offers a deeper look at the characters and helps readers understand who they are and how they got there. As expected, the new characters are not who they seem to be and danger lurks in the Manor. I appreciate the science knowledge White slips in along with hints of what is to come. She leaves another cliffhanger ending for readers to make their own predictions about the next adventure.

The Sinister-Winterbottom series has become one of my all-time favorites!
Picking up right where we left off in the last book, Theo, Alex, Wil, and Edgar are joined by Mina, Lucy, Henry, and Quincy as they travel to find the Stiens, hoping that V. Stien will hold some answers about all the missing parents.

What they find is a science camp with something fun for everyone, however, Victor is nowhere to be found. Essa a young girl just like them, and Mr. Frank a somewhat scary man who definitely wants them to leave asap. Lots of snooping ensues, along with them actually being able to have some fun, and it seems like it's about time they actually get to enjoy one of their summer adventures. That is until the other shoe drops and they are in danger once again.

This series is so much fun! I love all the crazy adventures that the twins find themselves in the middle of, and I love the friendships they've made. Menacing Manor and all the books in this series are funny, quirky, and heartwarming. It's also full of dangerous situations that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how everything is going to end.

I can't wait to see how everything is going to come together once they find the Siren family! I can't wait for Edgararent, and Fake Mrs. Widow to get what's coming to them!!

** “We’ll be okay, because we’re together.” **

The Sinister-Winterbottom siblings’ enigmatic and intriguing summer continues in Kiersten White’s “Menacing Manor.”

Picking up immediately after the Sinister Summer series’ third installation, Wil and twins Alexander and Theo have just left Camp Creepy, still on the search for their missing parents. Joining forces with their friends Mina and Lucy, Quincy, Henry and Edgar, they arrive at the Stein Manor Science Camp hoping to find their parents … or at least a way to unlock the mysterious family books they have accumulated.

They must also determine whom they can trust — Essa, the young girl running the camp, or Mr. Frank, a crotchety monster-like man who keeps threatening them to leave.

“Menacing Manor” is a zany tale that will appeal to all ages. It’s filled with mystery, humor and suspense. White does a great job of developing really fun characters filled with moxie and determination, as well as some less-than-desirable ones too.

She also includes some great themes, like making sacrifices; don’t judge people, especially just on their appearance; it is OK to be scared; and do what you love.

Due out May 2, fans of series like Lemony Snicket and James Patterson’s “Treasure Hunters” series will love this story and its fun tone.

Five stars out of five.

The penultimate book in this wonderful series was a non-stop read. Just like with the previous books, you’ll want to set aside time to read this in one sitting. They’re way too much fun and addictive to stop reading.

Theo and Alexander as characters have grown so much in a short amount of time. It’s so well done and beautiful to watch happen.

I absolutely love that the extended cast got more page time! I was hoping they would all come back into play, so I’m over the moon about that.

We even get to meet a few more quirky characters and we’re seeing more twists, turns and surprises that leave you feeling like “wait whaaaat??”.

I can already tell the final book is going to leave me breathless. I’ll be sad when it’s over but I’ve absolutely loved my time with these books.

Thank you to Random House for sending me an arc of this in exchange for an honest review.

Why is it with this series i'm always left with more questions than answers? i know that is the definite intent to keep me reading but come on! that ending? i need the next installment already. I love that you get more of a found family in this book where everyone we've met has to stick together and the allusion to Victor Frankenstein in middle grade was actually pretty cool.

as always with my reviews on these books. pick them up. you'll love them as much as i do.

I love this series. It's as creepy and twisting as the Series of Unfortunate Events, but with the possibility of a happy ending.. This book ends in a cliffhanger, but without feeling like it's tricking you into buying the next one when it comes out. The characters are believable and fantastic at the same time, and the story is engrossing.

Menacing Manor is the fourth book in the Sinister Summer series by Kiersten White and it’s just as good as the others. I think this is actually the best one since the first one!

This series follows Wil and her twin siblings, Theo and Alexander as they start their summer with one very important thing missing, their parents. While trying to figure out the mystery of the missing parents, the kids end up at a variety of destinations that each get a little more strange as they go.

These books are the perfect mix of A Series of Unfortunate Events and Scooby-Doo with a dash of the aesthetic from Wednesday. I love how each book takes place at a primary location which makes each installment feel very episodic but also, the hijinks that occur at each place are wildly different so it never feels repetitive. The story grows on itself with each installment so you need to read them in order to fully understand everything.

The writing is so witty that I find myself laughing out loud pretty often. There are also jokes that I think would go right over my children’s heads so that is fun too. It makes the books feel like they could be a family reading experience.

I feel like I could go on and on about how fun this series is but if you like middle grade books at all, I feel like these would be a winner. I can’t wait to see where the next book goes as this one ended on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Rating : 5 out of 5
Blurbs :
After escaping from Edgaren't and Dr. Jay, the Sinister-Winterbottoms and their friends arrive at Stein Manor Science Camp. They all work together to distract the friendly teenage camp director so they can explore and look for clues about where their parents might be.

Meanwhile, Theo and Alexander settle on a daring plan. They know exactly where Edgaren't is going to be: coming for them, and the books. This time, they'll be ready. This time, they'll get answers. And this time, they won't trust the adult in charge, which is easy enough when it's enormous, lurking, unfriendly Mr. Frank. But as they get closer to opening the books and their parents' histories, an unexpected foe is watching everything they do. . . .

Fake volcanoes! Real sea caves! Strangely modified frogs! Startling betrayal! And a lightning-struck manor! all combine for the electrifying penultimate Sinister Summer adventure.

Thoughts :
It's so much better than the second and the third book. This book almost as good as the first book.

This is the fourth book in Sinister summer series and we picked up right away after the ending of the third book. It's fun, twsity, witty, and yet sinister till the end. I'm so happy that Aunt Saffronia's back now even though I don't expect that ending. I will follow this series until the end. I don't know if this is a 5 books series or 6 books series or more than that but I'm going to read them anyway. I love Alexander, Theo, Wil, Edgar, Lucy, Mina, Quincy, Henry, and even Mr Frank!

It's so good. I highly recommend this book for anyone out there! Thank you Netgalley and Delacorte Press for the ARC!

Kiersten White has done it once again! Every book of hers I have had the pleasure of reading has been so easy to lose myself in and fly through, dying to know what will happen next. The Sinister Summer series has been no exception. I cannot recommend this series enough, not only to the middle grade readers in your life, but to anyone who likes reading about a scary summer adventure with a pair of 12-year-old twins that are braver than most adults. Menacing Manor is the 4th of 5 installments in the Sinister Summer series, and I’m already counting down to book 5!!

This was such a fun book! I'm loving this series, and this is my favorite installment so far!

I really like how much the characters have grown and learned to trust each other and themselves. This was probably the sweetest of the books (without being sappy). The dynamics of having all the characters together is entertaining too.

Plus, of course, I love the cleverness and wordplay in the narration. It's fun to get lost in the adventure and quirkiness of these stories.

I highly recommend this series and can't wait for the next book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Children's Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've really been enjoying this series. It seems to have the right blend of humor, heart, mystery and just enough spookiness/creepiness. I've enjoy watching the growth of the characters, especially Theo and Alexander. I loved the setting for this book and the new characters that were introduced. It seems that the kids are inching closer towards solving the mystery of their missing parents, but they likely have many (mis)adventures ahead. I look forward to continuing with this series. Readers that enjoy spooky settings, mystery and lots of humor will likely enjoy this book.

I am fully obsessed with this MG series -- White is writing such a fun, warm, thoughtful, clever series that still has a bite to it and plenty of wit. I adore the Sinister-Winterbottoms and their ever-growing gaggle of compatriots, and I find myself more and more compelled by the overarching mystery. THE MENACING MANOR subverts expectations in a fun, fresh way, prompting readers to rethink their assumptions about whom to trust. Yet again, I love White's dedication to gently probing the S-W kids' emotions and fears. I will happily hand these books to anyone -- they're the best!
