This graphic novel really explores the pangs of growing up! The wanting to establish yourself, the drifting that can occur between friends, and the strains that can rise between child and parent. It is a great read especially for those who can be absorbed with the navigation of social media! It really shines a light on how "ordinary" doesn't feel enough but can be just what you need.
Picture Day is one of those books we can all relate to. Viv is just your average seventh grader. But she longs to be more. She gets that chance when on picture day, she makes a bold move that suddenly puts her in the spotlight. Driven by social media, she sets out to become an influencer by helping others be brave. While Liv’s intentions are good, she lets the newfound popularity overtake her and she ends up losing the reason why she did it in the first place. Picture Day is good for those who want to break away from the norm and do something brave. Liv shows us that sometimes you just have to do it.
This is good graphic novel about finding yourself and being true to yourself.
I think middle graders will relate to this one and see themselves in the characters.
I liked the illustrations, the characters were very real.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC
It’s picture day at Brinkley Middle School!

Seventh-grader Olivia (who goes by Viv now because there’s so many Olivias) is tired of being ignored by the student body—her two best friends Milo and Al don’t count. When picture day rolls around Viv has had enough with the same braid her mom does for her hair and right before pictures she films herself cutting it all off. Suddenly she’s an influencer overnight helping her classmates with their own big moments, but will she lose herself in the sudden popularity?

We’re read this story before and that’s not a bad thing because we need more books and graphic novels like this in the world. Your students who are fans of the Click series, Svetlana Chmakova’s Awkward series and the Babysitter’s Club will love this one out June 27!
What a great graphic novel! Picture Day is going to be a hit with my students. The illustrations are stunning, and the plot is 100% relatable to every middle level student. I highly recommend this book, and I will be purchasing it for my classroom.
This is one of the first graphic novels I’ve read and it did not disappoint! It was a fun story and great illustrations!!
A sweet little slice of life about finding yourself and re-defining how you look, and feel!
This was a nice quick read! Sweet, well illustrated, and the variety of characters and hobbies they have was a great addition. Perfect way to start off my weekend!
You’ve read this story before. That’s not a bad thing. We need more books of young nerds, queer people, people of color, exploring themselves in a safe environment.
This was cute, I liked the illustration style, and the message was sweet. I think this will be a huge hit for middle grade graphic readers right now!
