This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.
Well, I DO love the Tudors and this is an interesting bit of speculative alternative history that asks the question: "what would have happened to England if Anne Boleyn had given birth to a son?" The hypothetical son, Willian, Henry IX is one of the 4 main characters, along Elizabeth I (only Princess Elizabeth here) with two other made up figures: Minuette, a friend and foil to Elizabeth and Dominic, a friend and foil to William. Plenty of court intrigue and some drama and you have a light, enjoyable read.
A different take on Anne Boleyn. She's more of a side character in this story. It focuses on her son, William. All the romance, passion, espionage is still there for Tudor fans.
I was really looking forward to reading this book, and I should have read the description better. I was disappointed that in thus alternative history where Anne Bolyne doesn't die that more of the story didn't focus on her life after giving birth to a male heir. I had hoped to learn if Henry still has an affair with Jane Seymour and there is an Edward, only an illegitimate one. Does Henry continue to be a womanizer? How would his relationship with Anne change? So much I wanted to learn. Instead, this story focuses on a grown son of Anne and Henry. It was an interesting story, though very focused on romance. I wanted something different. My fault for not reading the book description carefully. However, now that I've read this, I will read the sequel with adjusted expectations.
No review as I just couldn't get into it. Despite my two stars, it just wasn't there for me - will not continue with trilogy.
*I never got around to reading and reviewing this title.*
