Debra Lee, who was the former CEO of BET, is such a strong inspiration for women everywhere!

In her memoir, Lee speaks about her struggles within the corporate world, her own personal struggles and the way she overcame them. It was really interesting to read what SHE did for the network that brought some of the greatest POC shows that has probably ever been on BET.

What set this particular memoir apart for me is that she talks about what a lot of society thinks is impossible! Being a mother while also being in such a demanding work role. Deciding to go through fertility while maintaining an outstanding position and doing things on your own terms is truly admirable!

I would recommend this read even if you have no idea who Debra Lee is.

Debra Lee offers an unfiltered glimpse into her personal as well as her professional life providing the reader a view of her inspiring story of perseverance and success.

While I had seen or heard of Debra Lee & her association with BET. I did not know her full story. Until recently, I didn't know she started as general counsel there very early in her career. Ms. Lee endured a lot during her tenure at BET. In addition, she was significantly underpaid because of some crazy rule Bob Johnson had. After reading this book, I have a renewed respect for Debra Lee. Having watched BET since my teens, I can say I appreciate it more as a result of Debra Lee's vision for the network. Her vision has steered the network in the right direction & made it a force to be reckon with!!! All in all, I enjoyed this book.
