Miranda Rijks is officially on my auto read list. She consistently delivers fast-paced thriller fun and The Concierge is no exception.

Simone is certain there is more to her sister Ally's death than a self-caused car crash. To find out the truth, she infiltrates the home of Goldie and Braun Delucci, the producers of the film Ally was working on, as their personal concierge.

The story is told from the alternating POVs of Simone, Goldie and Rose, Goldie's daughter. This format gave the reader insider information that only certain characters knew and showed the impact of each person's actions. The characters are well-developed and the plot is layered without being messy. Rose is a really interesting character and I would love to see her appear in another book :)

Another great thriller from Miranda Rijks!

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the eARC to read and review.

I really enjoyed the pacing of The Concierge and how it reads like a movie (especially as many of the characters work in film).I found the pacing to be fast with many twists and unexpected developments along the way. I loved most of the characters and how they use their survival instincts while trying to solve how Ally died and being placed in unexpected situations. I found that the multiple POV was well written and efficient.

Thank you to NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this book and finished it in like 5 hours I could not put it down! For the most part I really liked the characters and the multiple POVs. There were a few plot things I didn't love and I felt like the mystery behind Ally's death was sort of overshadowed by all the other things going on which I was actually more invested in.

Really enjoyed this story, I liked tha5 it was told from multiple first person views, and how everything intertwined . The resolution was good, and I thought the final tie up made a good ending.

This book was a 3 star for me, it was a good read, but I was looking for something with a little more depth into its story.

Ally works for an up and coming movie production company - Delucci Productions - while working on a movie, she gets into a car accident. Her sister Simone doesn’t believe that the police report is true, she believes that the Delucci’s have more to do with Ally’s death than what is being told. Simone takes matters into her own hands, and becomes the Delucci’s concierge in order to uncover the truth.

I went into this book blindly, I have not read any other books from Miranda Rijks, but I was just looking for a quick physiological thriller to read, and this book was just that. There are multiple POVs throughout the book, which is why I believe the pacing of the book was a little off for me. I found that the beginning of the book was fairly slow, it took my a while to get fully invested. But as I continued to read the pacing did pick up and I didn’t want to put the book down.

This book has a lot of potential. I really do wish that we got to dive deeper into a lot of the details. I felt like a lot of the important facts - the story behind how Ally died, and the “adventures” of Braun - were glossed over. I personally would’ve liked more background information, and greater detail surrounding the important situations.

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The storyline started when one of the sisters was found dead in a car crash accident and the older sister tries to find the truth by being sort of a spy in the Deluccis Film Production and boom, one by one truth unfolds. However, I did not get the thrill of it except for one person to be exact which I wouldn't say the name of because it might spoil the other readers. I do not expect exactly that certain character which is good because it might give the vibe of a Plot Twist in it. However, it just doesn't write down in a good way and a certain way that makes the readers (me, probably) jump out of wherever I was sitting and said loudly "WHAT? Also, for suspense, crime-thriller story, it wasn't added into my category of this is good enough to read. I honestly like the writing style because it was going well with the flow and is easy to understand which is rare because sometimes when I do not enjoy the writing style, it took me long enough t finish the book and start a new one. I never read another story by this author and probably I should, because maybe my feedback would be increased from the latest rating I gave.

The Characters, it is hard to pick which certain character is your favorite when you don't even get any attachment to certain characters. In the first place, I was looking up to Rose because she was trouble but she is a baby trouble not really fall into my next favorite. Then, there is Tony, but nope. He didn't even have my eyes on him at all. LMAO. However, the characters in this book are sort of troubled in their own way, especially the MC; Rose, Simone, and Goldie. I just dislike the book which contains characters' POV because why author, why should you do that and not let the readers enjoy the mystery for more???

Issues that this book give me:
➊Broken families, luxury living. It's classic and happening nowadays. Not surprising at all when I read this book and get to that conclusion.
➋First born, rebel. Second born, obedient(?) OK, ngl because I see that the firstborn child in this book is a rebel maybe because he/she wants attention from his/her parents because the parents only care about works and themselves. Meanwhile, the second born was more like obedient in an emotional way because he/she was afraid that he/she might be a disgrace like his/her older sibling. Well, the rebel one didn't even get the attention they wanted to be loved and cared for on their own terms; the second born wanted to approach another way but it failed terribly as well. Good enough to point this out in the book
➌Daddy's Issue, one of the MCs attracted a man who was similar to her father and it was some kind of psychological response of I deserve this even though she was held on her ground and made her own way to the world. But, it was a classical way of telling that the past might define who you are now but you are going to choose the path you take in the future.

To Conclude, I enjoy this book as light reading because I love the writing style which is really going with the flow. However, the storyline was quite disappointing, especially regarding the truth about the younger sister. It was almost like, "Ummm..... Is that it?" (not in a good way). Also, maybe the spy thing on one of the MCs needs to be improved because she was horrible to do that. I am not an expert on that sort of thing but it could be written so much more and expanded in detail about the plans. Not just point out the plan and execute them in a few pages. I understand she wanted to learn the truth and she just a normal civilian but maybe need to be improved on how she does a thing. Also, lastly Why the bloody police department did not give a shit about this? — The dead woman is the actress, FFS

A slow burner that takes patience in the beginning. However an enjoyable read and lots of surprises throughout the book.

Goldie and Braun Delucci live in south west London and run a film production company that is successful and time consuming enough for them to require a concierge (glorified nanny).

We meet two women who hold this role. What connection does each of them have with the death of actress Ally who dies in a drug related car accident late at night?

As ever a racy read from this author told from multiple perspectives. If only the characters spent less time asking themselves questions and more time thinking properly about what might be going on around them, life could be a lot simpler!

Goldie and Braun Delucci run a major film production company. When their star Ally dies in a car crash, her sister Simone is suspicious of the golden couple. When she takes a job working for them, she keeps her identity under wraps so she can investigate the death of her sister. She soon finds out that someone is on to her.

This story does not disappoint. It is fast paced, has well written characters. The plot of the story is told in an amazing way. The subplots do not take away from the main plot of the story. Loved the character development.

I have been a fan of Miranda's work for a while now. I have read and every book that she has released to date. When I heard that she was due to release another book, I knew that I had to read it as soon as I could. Well ladies and gents, Miranda's new book is called 'The Concierge' and it was released on 13th December 2022. The synopsis of 'The Concierge' certainly sounded intriguing and I couldn't wait to dive in. So without further ado, I grabbed my Kindle, grabbed a cup of tea and settled down for an intense afternoon of reading. Oh boy, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Concierge' but more about that in a bit.

Oh my word, as soon as I started reading 'The Concierge', I had serious doubts that I would be able to put the book down. I started reading and I found I couldn't stop! My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. The characters intrigued me and I was curious to find out how they fitted into the story. This was a book that was always on my mind whether I had the Kindle in my hand or not. If I wasn't reading the book then I was thinking about it. If I had to put the book down for any reason then I would immediately look forward to being able to pick the book up again. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. All too quickly I reached the end of 'The Concierge'. I found 'The Concierge' to be a gripping, tense and dramatic read, which certainly kept me guessing and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

'The Concierge' is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Miranda Rijks. Miranda has an easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. For me, the story was a slow burn type of story. The story starts at a gentle pace but the pace gathers momentum as the story continues and races to a tense and dramatic conclusion. The story is divided into chapters with each chapter being narrated by one of the main characters and details events from their point of view. The chapters interlink and the story flows seamlessly as a result. Reading 'The Concierge' felt like being on a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which Miranda makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'The Concierge' and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Miranda's work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

This was a good quick read, multiple narrators and a story about hugely dysfunctional family.

Family issues seem to be a very popular topic at the moment and this book was on the pulse but added nothing new.

Thank you NetGalley & Inkubator Books for this copy of The Concierge in exchange for my honest review.

I would rate it 3.75 stars. I loved the multiple POV’s, the quick pace after about 25% of the story, very detailed characters (even the dog), strong female presence & the family dysfunction. The ending did feel a bit rushed because there was so much detail in the middle (which I loved). While the story started out with Ally’s death, it kind of felt like what was supposed to be the main plot point kind of took a backseat (no pun intended). I did like the twists at the end because they didn’t come out of nowhere. During the last 25% of the book I kept trying to guess what was going to happen.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick paced, psychological thriller who like rich people problems & family dysfunction (like me)!

Pacy Suspense…
What really happened the night that Ally died? Her sister is determined to find out and embarks on a search for the truth in this pacy psychological suspense. Nothing is quite as it seems as this tale of discovery and revenge unfolds. With a well drawn cast, an immersive plot and an edge of dark menace this is a rollercoaster read with a, perhaps, unexpected denouement.

When Simones sister gets killed in a fatal crash, she's determined to get to the bottom of what happened and carries out her own investigations into the production company her sister was an actress with. As always with Miranda, there's a twist I didn't see. A fabulous physiological thriller that I couldn't put down.

WOW! Another mind blowing psychological thriller perfect for those who love a good family drama. Miranda officially became an #autobuyauthor for me after I read Forget Me Not. This is the fifth book I've read of hers and it may be the best one yet! I know, I know ... I said that last time. I continue to love each book for its own uniqueness.

As with her previous books, my favorite part of Miranda's books is her ability to effortlessly weave together a complex storyline while throwing in red herrings to keep the reader guessing. The Concierge is no different, it's filled with complex relationships, dysfunctional dynamics, and intrigue. Just when I thought I figured it out another twist came my way.

This book is fast-paced with well developed characters and an eclectic collection of supporting characters, adding the perfect depth to the story. The descriptions are vivid and I was immersed in the story. So much so, I was sad when it ended. I highly recommend it!

Thank you, NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I’ve been seeing Miranda Rijks’s books popping up on social media, but this is my first time reading one of her books. The Concierge follows three povs Simone, Goldie, and Goldie’s daughter, Rose. Simone infiltrates the Delucci family by posing as a concierge after the mysterious death of her sister, Ally, on the Delucci’s film set. I thought this was a good thriller, but not a great thriller. I would have loved a little more mystery, and for there to be a few more details to round the story out. It is definitely a fast-paced read, and gets exciting at times. I do wish the story focused a bit more on the mystery surrounding the death of Ally. Towards the ending of the book things felt rushed, and I almost felt like I was reading a different book entirely. I give the book 3.5 stars for being entertaining, and it kept me engaged enough to want to read more by Rijks.

This book was so awesome. I enjoyed the whole book. I was so captivated through it all that I didn’t want to put it down. The author really knows how to keep her audience engaged. The story was just so well written.

Thank you NetGalley for the kindle copy in exchange for a honest review. Simone’s actress sister Ally dies in a suspicious car accident following an end of filming party. The Police put it down to a terrible accident after traces of drugs were found in her system. Simone knows her sister doesn’t do drugs and sets out to find out what really happened that night. She takes a job as Concierge to Ally’s bosses Goldie and Braun Delucci to dig into what they are hiding. Yet another outstanding psychological thriller from Miranda Rijks.
